Bring up a child in the way he should grow has been a saying coming from decades, and this implies that parents should always guide their wards towards what is good and bad through every stage of their growth.
Although, we could say times are changing things where kids and minors are exposed to things they are not supposed to see, watch or know, but it stills boils down to the foundation lay down by parents or guardians where you have to let a child 👧 or minor know when exceeding limits. This is very important, especially in this era where we have seen how smart children are becoming.
Should A Minor Be Tried Like An Adult When They Commit A Crime?
A minor we all know are children below the age of 18 years . This means that any one from zero age is a minor, and should be under the care and direction of their parents. But the issue is that kids of this days are doing what is above them, that most don’t listen to what their parents are saying. Many others are influenced too by their peers and environment, exceedingly involving in crimes of all sorts. This can also be linked to how the 21st century brought so much awareness, with internet, technology and lack of parents cautioning their children properly
A minor from the ages of 10 years to 17 years is already aware of what is good and what is bad. At this age range, a 10 year old boy would know that a gun with a bullet in it will kill anyone the gun is directed at once the trigger is pulled. This is so because a child of 10 years in this current times knows more than we think. And because of the schools they attend, the movie 🎥 they watch and probably, the awareness created by their parents. So, they can not be hiding as minors and be committing crimes, believing to go free. In my opinion, minors should be punished with certain kinds of punishment that might be lower than that of adult when crime is committed.
The era we are in now is changing lots of things. Have you seen this kids discussing disgusting things? Have you seen a boy of 15 - 17 year old threatening another of his peer, of how he can kill him if gets in his way in any situation that warrants power measure? These are those regarded as minors, but most of them challenge their parents because they lack good upbringing. Should we say parents are not putting enough time where their wards are? Or maybe they get tired at some point, seeing how terrible the child has become?
Recently, I watched a video where a boy of about 13 years was fighting his mother. He was continually kicking his mother and making some hand blows. His mother was also kicking him as if she wants to kill him. Although, the video was from overseas, showing you how this children can not be controlled. I think the mother was the one who set her phone secretly to record that video because she said that the very incident has continued for a while anytime she tries to beat the boy for doing something bad. And in the video said she is planning to send the boy back to Nigeria 🇳🇬 to make him develop properly.
These kids are doing more than expected, having it mind to go free from the law. They secretly do drugs, steal things, harassing their peers and terrorizing their girl peers . And from things like these, they go harder to associate with those that will teach them to commit other crimes with the notion of being a minor. The society can not allow things like this to happen because it will turn into a serious danger.
For me, minors should have a set lay down rules and punishments that will be apply to anyone within that age of a minor who committed any serious crime, especially that of rape, killing and robbery. With this in place, every minor will know their place in the society. Change is constant, so minors laws should also be looked into for upgrading.
