Hello,my friends! Today we're cooking a simple cod and potato dish. The cod (or pollock or haddock) will be placed on potatoes partially immersed in boiling water. Essentially, the fish and potatoes in this recipe are steamed rather than fried. All this goodness will be generously seasoned with butter and green onions. Let's go, it's cod time!

Ingredients: ● 1 kg of cod (0.6-1 kg) ● 8 potatoes (800 g) ● 70 g of butter ● 2 cups of water ● 1 bunch of green onions ● Salt and black pepper - to taste
1.Take frozen cod (if you have chilled cod, I'm happy for you, but you're unlikely to have that luck; stores often pass off frozen cod as "chilled" as "regularly defrosted") and defrost it. It's best to defrost the fish overnight in the refrigerator; this is the most gentle defrosting method. Rinse the cod to remove any blood or black spots and cut into pieces. I had a small cod, so I chopped it into 5 pieces.

2.Peel the potatoes and cut them into large chunks. Pour water into a deep frying pan and bring to a boil. Add a pinch of salt and about 30 grams of butter. Then place the potato pieces in the boiling water and cover the pan with a lid.

3.Reduce the heat slightly to medium and simmer the potatoes for 15 minutes in the boiling water until they're almost cooked through. They're essentially steamed, not boiled. Sprinkle the potatoes with ground black pepper.

4.Place the cod pieces on top of the potatoes. Season the fish with salt and pepper. Chop the green onions and place them on top of the cod. Cover the pan with a lid and simmer for another 20 minutes, until the cod is cooked through.

5.Now everything's ready, just add another knob of butter. You can swirl it over the fish to coat it.

6.Place the potatoes on a plate and top with the cod and onions. You can pour the pan juices over the fish and potatoes. It seems like a simple dish, but it's so delicious!

Shall we cook it?
