Mono Monday a few recent edits from walks around New Bedford MA

Mono Monday a few recent edits from walks around New Bedford MA

Good Morning, I hope you had a good weekend, mine was nice and quiet.

As usual I am starting the week with a few recent Mono edits I did this morning

Starting inside Grace Episcopal Church here in New Bedford. I was fortunate to be invited inside by the Pastor to take some photos, and decided to go with a mono edit for this one which is a shame for the cool stained glass windows not to stand out, but I think it gives a more timeless, historic feel to this beautiful church.

And while talking about churches, I remember when growing up the church doors were open 24/7 and you could go in anytime; such a shame times have changed, and they have to be locked up other than for services for the most part these days.

Mind you with this church's history and in 1987 some kids went in, I am not sure if it was locked and they broke in or not and started a fire which damaged so much of the church. It makes sense that they lock it up after that if no one is in there.

Next up at the port, A view I often take a photo of but seldom edit in Monochrome, but I feel for this one it worked out nicely

and still at the port, to be honest in color I didn't like this photo and I wasn't planning on editing it, but I accidentally hit the B&W button in lightroom and kind of liked it, so took it into photoshop nd came up with this edit

And this is the Roosevelt apartments building; apparently, back in the day it was very upscale, and perhaps not so much these days.

and to finish off, back in St. Grace's Church, this Baptismal Font, fell through the floor in the fire I mentioned earlier, but it was undamaged and was able to be reset as they refurbished the church.

  • I like the B&W edits in the church. But the second edit of the port is really cool. Looks otherworldly. Very cool.

Bzzz, that baptismal font surviving the fire and being reset is such a touching detail. 🐝 The monochrome really does give Grace Episcopal Church a timeless feel, even without the stained glass colors — and those Belgian block streets look wonderful in mono too. Lovely walk to start the week!

it is wild that the baptismal font survived falling through the floor during that fire. monochrome really suits the interior of the church even if you lose the stained glass colors

Oh wow, what a beautiful old building. I can't wait to see more photos from inside!

How are you, dear friend @tattoodjay?

It’s true, times have changed a lot, and as you rightly say, it’s a shame that church doors remain closed.

    What beautiful shots.

Have a happy and prosperous week.
