It is not known who created National Saxophone Day or when it was established. We believe it originated around 2015, but at the moment, we cannot state this with certainty. What we do know about this observance is that it is celebrated on November 6th, as that is Adolphe Sax’s birthday.
Adolphe Sax, born in 1814 the man who invented the instrument registered his new invention, the saxophone, in 1846. The saxophone actually belongs to the woodwind family, as it uses a single vibrating reed to produce sound.
- Within the saxophone family, there are eight different sizes of saxophones.
- These include the sopranino and soprano saxophones, which have a high pitch; the alto and tenor saxophones, which have a medium pitch; and the lower pitched saxophones: the contrabass, Baritone, and bass saxophones.
- Many jazz musicians were initially resistant to using the saxophone when it was first introduced, preferring the clarinet instead.
- Saxophones can be made not only from brass, but also from plastic, copper, sterling silver, and even polycarbonate.
- The soprillo is the smallest saxophone, measuring only 30 centimeters (12 inches) in length.
Family Time!
Well hey there, did ya miss us? We missed you! So much, in fact, that we have rescheduled our 'Family Time' to Fridays and we hope to see you there! Join our lovely band of outcasts, normies, goofballs, pimps, degenerates, professionals and all things within and without and betwixt and between starting 6 pm CST/ 7 pm EST. We always try to have a little fun and and if you're paying attention, a few smiles might just be shared. We like to smile. We like to laugh. We realize that life isn't all about the important things like #politics, #religion and #sex, no, it's about the time spent, the experiences had and memories made. Memories get passed on, experiences are shared and time - time is the currency we spend to acquire them.
It just may be worth your time to visit the Castle and come check us out. Unlike the 'Addams Family' shows, all of this is live, unrehearsed and not recorded before any audience. Funny things happen. Sad things happen. Smiles and tears get shared. Worries and hopes are passed around. Sometimes, we even eat #pizza, cake and ice cream. Sometimes, we watch movies. Sometimes, giant insects attack the microphones and we have to get out our silly swatters and smack 'em up so we have something to snack on because the popcorn got eaten already by little slugs that left slimy trails everywhere and made the sidewalks slippery so that the pancakes didn't get enough traction on our canoes to steer the spaceships. Exactly.
Suceden cosas divertidas. Suceden cosas tristes. Se comparten sonrisas y lágrimas. Se transmiten preocupaciones y esperanzas. A veces, incluso comemos #pizza, tarta y helado. A veces vemos películas. Exactamente.
