I've listened to the first 20 minutes so far and my observations are thus;
Dan is an excellent speaker and obviously genuine advocate for Hive and particularly HBD. I agree with what he says, we all know the advantages of our blockchain. Superfast, normal account names and fee-less and leveraging this should be a no brainer.
There are two fundamental issues, though.
Why isn't the initial focus and investment in getting HBD listed on more exchanges. Why isn't it listed already? Why does it not get the love from the exchanges?
It's basically being pegged at a dollar by one bloke and a DHF proposal. This is not exactly stable and something that any serious investor is going to throw money into. It's a huge red flag.
Im also interested to know why it was decided to set up a whole new ecosystem rather than getting the ball rolling by jumping onto the coattails of one of the currently existing payment cards that can be loaded with crypto.

Thanks for this ! I'm already a huge fan of #SpendHBD. The UK is a tough place to crack when it comes to anything crypto, so there's nowhere near me yet (I'll keep trying....).

The SpendHBD project is a laudable project. Sincerely speaking, if a lot of people happen to understand how this works and the innumerable benefits inherent in it, they'll lobby to get their businesses listed in the Distriator.
Indeed, the cashback is crazy.

Well explained, everyone who listens will understand it clearly, People still swap Hive for USDt and sell and nobody makes noise. It answers many questions I have had, though I am still unsure how it is going to scale, but I am sure you guys are thinking ahead on it. My biggest concern prior was that this was just another project with good intentions getting leeched.
Going back years we (old timers) have talked about ways to use HBD more effectively, and this might be a good step in that direction, at least as an experiment and an awareness that it is possible.
I am interested in the proximity pay card thing too, as I reckon the might be a good way for the businesses to offer "loyalty programs" to customers, where for instance, the kickback is 5% if they spend above x, 10% if they spend y, and 15% for z amount in a month at the same store, or group of stores. This could also encourage the formation of local co-ops that prefer to trade in HBD. And, it could be accompanied with an app for the consumer that tracks all their purchase records and account info, similar to what the supermarket chains do.
As Dan said about grassroots, I get that this is going to also be a little trial and error. At the moment, the majority of transactions seem to be spread among developing nations - does it scale with bigger spends?
Gives me some things to think about on this and I will talk to some of the others I know with questions also, and link them the video. I will also recommend not to DV the SpendHBD posts, but as you know, each user does as they do with their stake.
What I think would help the cause a bit is if the "review" was more of an actual review, at least sometimes. I think I saw Starkerz using @worldmappin, so perhaps they could add a filter view for their map to find businesses that take HBD in a given area, and connect the business to the reviews of the store.
I really do appreciate you both taking the time to explain this in idiot terms, as that is what I need to understand!
Now that I dug more into HBD and how it works, I also understand the value of HBD adoption, so I get to appreciate initiatives to increase adoption for HBD. Nice!
I've been with this project for a while, but this is the most comprehensive and complete value proposition of SpendHBD project. The points presented and supported with proof shows what is possible if the Hive community shows more love for this awesome innovation.
The benefits are huge from creating a circular economy where HBD is mostly bought and spent across the ecosystem, micro-funding for genuine small businesses, bringing outside investment when businesses buy and stake Hive, onboarding new people to crypto without saying it's crypto, the network effect where thousands of shoppers, perhaps millions start spending HBD, it's just endless the huge potential this project brings.
Anyone with an open mind and genuine interest for the growth of Hive will never fault this project, regardless of any obvious lapses or setbacks inherent in experimental projects like this.
I am fired to do more and have just found in this video additional motivation to push harder and get more done!!!!!
