Mending My Favourite Red Shoes with Micro Crochet

Funny how attached we can get to our favourite things. I didn’t realise just how much I loved these red shoes until I thought I might have to say goodbye to them.

I accidentally made a hole in it today after tripping over a sharp twig. I’m quite attached to them and wasn’t ready to let them go, so I decided to repair them instead. ❤️

I thought micro-crochet would be the best way to repair the hole, so I decided to give it a try.

I picked up my tiniest crochet hook, a 0.60 mm one, and some sewing thread.

Luckily, I had some leftover thread that matched the colour of my shoes perfectly!

It’s been a while since I last did micro-crochet, but it’s amazing how we don’t forget the skills we’ve learned.

I made a couple of tiny patches to mend the hole.

Then I carefully sewed them over the damaged area, making sure they were securely attached.

I made sure they are well secured.

I’m so happy that I can wear my favourite red shoes again! And the repair is hardly noticeable!

Have a lovely day, Mariah 💕

Ooooh, I LOVE this kind of repair, dear Mariah! I fixed a pair of similar sports shoes for Vincent's nephew, and it was much less elegant, but worked very well (maybe a bit easier, because they were black)... I really like how your patches become an additional feature, even: perfection! 💕💐

I admire how resourceful you are. It's not easy to let go of things we love using, especially when we can still find ways to repair them and make them last longer.

that 0.60 mm hook sounds tiny to work with. finding thread that exact shade of red was definitely a lucky break. 💐
