One trending topic we have in our country now, is Peller and Jarvis announcing that they are expecting their first child. Why it is trending now is because when they had their wedding on August 1st, people were already saying she looked pregnant. Blah blah... the comments were everywhere, but she came out to say she had too much to eat and that people should stop bad-mouthing her. She even mentioned eating much Eba at a point and that was how the whole thing continued until just two days ago when they announced that they were actually expecting their first child.
So I love the fact that they are expecting, see I am a sucker for love. I'm genuinely happy for them.
I have followed their story from when they were dating through their ups and downs to their engagement and wedding now seeing them prepare to become parents is beautiful to me. I know they are not the first couple to get married and announce a pregnancy, and they certainly won't be the last but there is something about watching two people move from being lovers to becoming husband and wife and now preparing to welcome a child that makes me happy.
Beyond my excitement there is something else I have observed from the whole situation and that is how people can be so quick to draw conclusions about other peoples lives.
Imagine someone getting married and instead of allowing them to enjoy their moment, people are already analysing their body checking their stomach and making assumptions about whether they are pregnant.. When she explained herself people still had something to say, now that the news is official, everybody is congratulating them, honestly the internet can be funny sometimes.
This is one thing social media has taught me, people will always have something to say whether you explain yourself or not, sometimes you can tell people the truth, they will still believe what they want to believe, some times they may be right about something but that doesn't mean they were entitled to know it before you were ready to share it.
I think we should learn to allow people to announce their good news in their own time, whether pregnancy, marriage, relationships and family matters are things, just because someone is a public figure doesn't mean every detail of their life belongs to the public.
Honestly I think the most beautiful part of this whole thing is that Peller and Jarvis now have a new chapter to look forward to, having a child is a responsibility and beyond all the congratulations and beautiful pictures , I do hope they enjoy the journey, support each other and prepare themselves for the reality of parenthood.
As someone who's a sucker for love, I will always celebrate people finding happiness and building something together, I know relationships are not always rosy, I am not saying every couple we see online has a perfect relationship, we only get to see what people choose to share with us, when something beautiful happens I think it is okay to be happy for them without looking for something negative to say.
So what has this trend taught me far? Love and happiness are worth celebrating, People's privacy is worth respecting too, we can congratulate people without investigating their lives, we can be happy for them without turning every personal decision into a public debate.
For now congratulations to Peller and Jarvis..... I wish them a safe pregnancy, a baby and a beautiful journey, into parenthood.
Please let Jarvis enjoy her Eba in peace ..,. We have seen the result of that investigation already.
