Star Wars Trilogy Arcade was created by Sega and used their Model 3 arcade hardware which limited home options almost as much as the licensing costs would have. That is not stopping a fan from creating a home version for the Sega Dreamcast though.
Bringing the Arcade Experience Home
Itch.io user, toastedgreedo, has been working on bringing the full Star Wars Trilogy Arcade experience home. The demo available features only two scenes – a duel with Boba Fett and the Yavin mission.
There is a lot more planned to be added, not just original arcade content but, if possible, at least one completely original stage for this port.
Playable in Emulators and on Real Hardware Thanks to A.I.
I am slipping in the use of A.I. on purpose. Many people dislike A.I. being used for anything and will refuse to support anything that uses it. Well, if you fall in that camp, you will want to stop reading now and move onto another article about another game.
Claude Code, Sonnet 5, and Opus 5 were all involved in assisting the actual programming stages of this port for Sega’s Star Wars game. The developer does state that A.I. was NOT used for anything outside as a programming aid and they themselves checked and corrected the final code used.
For me, I don’t really care if A.I. is used or not but I point it out because I understand there are readers that do not like it and wish to steer clear of supporting it.
Currently there is no timeframe for completion of this project. Hopefully they get more done before Disney’s lawyers find out about it and shut it down.
