At Farmatodo Playa el Angel, looking for my favourite gelato 🍦🥶 [Eng/Esp]

I hope you’re all well. Lately, where I am, it’s been scorching hot at times – the sort of heat that sets you alight the moment you step outside – and at other times it’s been raining really heavily, making it feel quite chilly. But the heat is more consistent, so I felt that called for something cold.

A while back on TikTok, I saw some girls talking about a new brand of gelato that had arrived in the country and was apparently only sold at Farmatodo, and it looked so delicious that I couldn’t resist and went to buy some. To my surprise, there were so many flavours that I didn’t know which one to choose, but in the end I went for the Italian tiramisu and the salted caramel with truffles – and I can say: what divine treats!

So, with the dreadful heat and the fact that we had some shopping to do, I persuaded my mum to pop into Farmatodo to buy some. This time we went specifically to the Farmatodo on Playa in Ángel because it was the one closest to us at the time. So as soon as we arrived, we went straight to the frozen foods section and I picked up the salted caramel with truffles again because I love it. I thought about giving another flavour a go 😝, but decided to save that for another time; my mum picked that one up too.

After picking out the gelatos, I grabbed a bag of those log-shaped chocolates that I love. So, once I’d finished picking out all the sweets I wanted to eat, we went to look for some creams and personal care products we needed, which we paid for at the self-checkout.

One thing to clarify is that you might think ice cream and gelato are the same thing, but the reality is that gelato is made with milk and is less cold than ice cream, as well as having less fat, so it’s smoother to eat. Whereas ice cream is made with cream, is colder and has more fat.

This gelato, which is from a brand called Talenti, comes in layers of flavours, so the idea is always to dig your spoon right to the bottom to get all the flavours. In my case, my favourite – salted caramel with truffles – features a layer of chocolate and coffee gelato, salted caramel, vanilla gelato, plus truffles coated in more salted caramel.

Next time, I’m going to try another flavour because, to be honest, there’s a huge variety: from pistachio, biscuits and cream, cheesecake, one called Alphonso Mango and a pecan one, amongst others. If you get the chance to try this gelato, do give it a go because, honestly, it’s really good.

Espero que se encuentren bien. Últimamente, en mi lado del mundo hace por momentos un calor abrasador de esos que te incendian apenas sales y por otros momentos llueve muy fuerte, que empieza a hacer mucho frío. Pero es más constante el calor, así que sentí que eso ameritaba algo frío.

Hace un tiempo en TikTok vi a unas chicas hablando de una nueva marca de gelato que había llegado al país y que solo se vendía aparentemente en Farmatodo, y se veía tan rico que no resistí y fui a comprarme uno. Mi sorpresa fue que había un monto de sabores que no sabía cuál agarrar, pero al final me decidí por el de tiramisú italiano y el de caramelo salado con trufas y puedo decir: qué cosas más divinas de la vida.

Por lo que, con el calor horrible que hacía y el hecho de que teníamos que hacer unas compras, convencí a mi mamá de ir a Farmatodo a comprar unos. Esta vez fuimos especialmente al Farmatodo de Playa en Ángel porque era el que en ese momento nos quedaba más cerca. Así que apenas llegamos, fuimos directamente a la sección de congelados y agarré otra vez el de caramelo salado con trufas porque lo amo. Pensé darle la oportunidad a otro sabor 😝, pero decidí que sería en otro momento; mi mamá también agarró de ese.

Después de agarrar los gelatos, agarré una bolsa de lo que son como unos chocolates en forma de tronco que me encantan. Así que, una vez terminado de agarrar todos los dulces que quería comer, fuimos a buscar unas cremas y productos personales que necesitábamos, los cuales fuimos a pagar en el autopago.

Algo que aclarar es que se puede pensar que el helado y el gelato son lo mismo, pero la realidad es que el gelato se hace con leche y es menos frío que el helado, además de que tiene menos grasas, por lo que es más suave para comer. Mientras que el helado es con crema, más frío y tiene más grasa.

Este gelato, que como tal es de una marca llamada Talenti, viene por capas de sabores, por lo que la idea es siempre meter la cuchara hasta el fondo para agarrar todos los sabores. En mi caso, mi favorito, que es el de caramelo salado con trufas, trae una capa de gelato de chocolate con café, caramelo salado, gelato de vainilla más trufas bañadas en más caramelo salado.

La próxima vez, voy a probar otro sabor porque, la verdad, hay mucha variedad: desde pistacho, galletas con crema, cheesecake, uno llamado Alphonso Mango y uno de nueces pecanas, entre otros. Si tienen la oportunidad de probar este gelato, háganlo porque la verdad son muy buenos.
