Mission 7: Finalization. PURE GORE in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2

Hey gamers, how's it going? I hope you're playing a lot and everything's going great. I'm still pushing forward through the PvE missions, and this time around we tackle the mission called Finalization.

Eliminating all the Tyranids and their swarm

The Tyranid conduits have completely infected Kadaku and are ready to consume the planet's biomass. So our mission this time is to wipe them all out and destroy the conduits in what's genuinely an unprecedented operation across the entire planet of Kadaku. From the moment this mission starts, you can tell the scale of it is massive, this isn't just clearing out one infested area, it's a full-on assault meant to cripple the Tyranid presence across the whole region.

The setting for this planet is a jungle completely overrun by Tyranids, mixing humid swampland with thick, muddy vegetation everywhere you look. It's honestly one of the most atmospheric environments I've come across in this game so far. Everything feels damp, oppressive, and alive in the worst possible way, with Tyranid biomass creeping over roots, rocks, and ruins alike, like the whole jungle itself has been infected rather than just occupied. Visibility gets tricky in some areas too, with thick fog and overgrown vegetation hiding enemies until they're practically on top of you, which keeps the tension high throughout the entire mission.

Waking up the consoles and eliminating the biological threats

As we push through, we have to eliminate the biological threats infesting the area while working alongside the machine spirit to bring a console back from its reset state. This part ties in nicely with that machine spirit concept I mentioned way back in my post about shutting down the reactor, it's cool to see that lore thread continue showing up across different missions, reinforcing just how deeply this belief is woven into how the Imperium interacts with its technology.

Clearing out the biological threats here isn't a simple task either. The jungle setting means enemies can come from pretty much any angle, crawling out of the undergrowth, dropping from overhead vines, or bursting out of infested pods scattered around the area. Combine that with needing to focus on reactivating the console at the same time, and you get another one of those great multitasking sequences this game loves to throw at you, where you're never just doing one thing at a time, you're constantly balancing the objective with staying alive against whatever the jungle throws your way.

A deadly battle against the Carnifex

During the mission we also run into a deadly battle against a Carnifex, which we get to finish off in a genuinely majestic slaughter. For anyone who hasn't run into one of these before, the Carnifex is one of those massive, heavily armored Tyranid bio-titans built almost entirely for brute force, and fighting one feels exactly like that, a brutal test of endurance and precision rather than a quick skirmish.

This fight ramps up the intensity considerably. The Carnifex hits like an absolute truck, and dodging its attacks requires constant attention, since getting caught by one of its charges or swipes can chip away a massive chunk of your health in an instant. What makes this encounter so satisfying, though, is the execution finisher once you've worn it down enough. Watching your Space Marine tear into this massive creature in one of those over-the-top finishing moves this game is known for feels incredibly rewarding after everything you just went through to bring it down.

Eliminating the Hierophant Bio-Titan

And then we reach the true final boss of this mission, the Hierophant Bio-Titan, which we have to take down using super cannons linked up with our Bolter Rifle's scope while defending our position alongside our squadmates. Eliminating this Bio-Titan is simply brutal, dodging its corrosive acid attacks while simultaneously battling other Tyranids swarming the platform, all while helping your teammates get the engines back online so you can keep hammering away at the Titan and its conduits.

This fight might be one of the best examples yet of this game's ability to juggle multiple layers of chaos at once without ever feeling unfair or overwhelming in a bad way. You've got the Hierophant itself, a genuinely terrifying, massive creature looming over the entire battlefield, spitting corrosive acid that forces you to constantly reposition. At the same time, you've got waves of smaller Tyranids trying to overrun your position, and on top of all that, there's the added objective of keeping those engines running so your team can keep landing hits on the Titan with the super cannons.

The spectacle of this fight is honestly on another level compared to some of the other boss encounters I've written about so far. Watching those super cannons connect with the Hierophant, tearing into its armored hide while acid rains down around the platform and smaller Tyranids keep swarming in from every direction, creates this incredible sense of scale and chaos that perfectly caps off everything this mission builds toward. By the time the Bio-Titan finally goes down, there's this massive sense of relief mixed with pure satisfaction, like you and your squad just took down something that genuinely felt unstoppable just moments before.

So, gamers, as you can see, this has been a brutal mission packed with tons of gore and action. This game genuinely keeps surprising me more and more every day. Between the atmospheric jungle setting, the Carnifex execution, and that absolutely massive Hierophant fight at the end, this mission easily ranks among the best PvE experiences I've had in this game so far. I can't wait to see what's still waiting for me in the missions ahead. Also, something I'm really looking forward to is the entire roadmap, how the game will evolve in the next year since they expect to keep it going until 2027-2028. I mentioned this in my last post about the launch of the new battle pass, now that the game is three years old. I don't feel like I'm late to the party; I think I still have time to get some enjoyment out of the game despite it being three years old. I'm really trying to play it every day with a new mission, so I hope to progress as quickly as possible. See you in a next post!
