We survive 15 waves in SIEGE mode, beating our personal record in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2

How's it going gamers? I'm still deep into Warhammer, and this time I decided to jump back into SIEGE mode in PvE, since it's a mode that really helps evolve your character, and it's one I still haven't fully completed, all 5 sectors waiting to be liberated. Yesterday we managed to reach the third sector but couldn't push past that, so let's get into today's run.

Siege mode is a horde mode, but with intermediate objectives

One of the things I appreciate the most about Siege is that it's not just a straightforward horde mode where you stand around shooting endless waves of enemies. It actually throws intermediate objectives at you during the hordes themselves, which adds a layer of strategy on top of the usual chaos. Completing these objectives isn't always feasible, and it's not mandatory to progress either, but it does give you extra rewards if you manage to pull it off.

I say it's not always feasible because if your teammates are only focused on racking up kills, it becomes really difficult to handle the objectives on your own while also keeping the horde off your back. This is where teamwork really becomes essential. You basically need at least one person splitting their attention toward the objective while the rest of the squad holds the line and keeps the enemies from overwhelming whoever's trying to get it done. When it clicks and everyone's on the same page, it feels great, but when your squad's scattered doing their own thing, those objectives can slip right through your fingers no matter how hard you try to juggle both.

Unlocking blessings for each sector

I touched on this a bit in my first post about Siege, but back then I honestly didn't fully understand how it worked. Now it makes a lot more sense. Blessings are basically a kind of perk or modifier that shows up before each sector, and whichever one you pick will influence the rest of the hordes you face throughout that entire sector. The catch is you can only choose this once per sector, right at the very start, so there's no changing your mind halfway through if the horde composition ends up being different from what you expected.

This adds a nice bit of planning to the whole run, since you have to think ahead based on what you already know about that sector or what your playstyle tends to lean toward. Pick wrong, or pick something that doesn't synergize well with how your squad is playing, and you could be stuck dealing with a rougher stretch of enemies than you bargained for. It's a small decision point, but it carries weight for the whole sector, so I've started paying a lot more attention to what each blessing actually does instead of just grabbing whatever sounds flashy.

What should you buy at the terminal?

This is another really interesting point you need to understand well, knowing what to actually buy at the Requisition Terminal. In my case, I've noticed that the best perks you can get here are the enemy soldier hordes and the elite soldier summon for 5 minutes. Both of these help a ton when things get hectic. Having an Ammo Stash available at all times is also something you should never skip, since running dry mid-wave is one of the fastest ways to lose a sector you were otherwise handling just fine.

What I've learned after a few runs is that it's not just about grabbing whatever's cheapest or whatever's available first, it's about thinking ahead to what the next couple of waves are likely to throw at you. If I know a tougher wave with armored enemies is coming up, I'll prioritize whatever gives me more firepower or crowd control instead of just stacking ammo for the sake of it. Managing your tokens wisely at the terminal really does separate a smooth sector clear from a scramble where you're out of resources halfway through a wave with enemies still pouring in.

Is it possible to unlock all 5 sectors?

Yes, it is, but it's also pretty difficult. At least on Medium difficulty, the third sector gets genuinely intense, and in our case, that's as far as we got, we couldn't push into the fourth or fifth sector this run. This also depends a lot on what your teammates decide once a sector wraps up, since you get the choice to either head back to base or keep pushing forward. In our case, once we cleared sector 3, my teammates decided not to continue, so that's where our run ended for the day.

I get it though, by that point everyone's resources are usually stretched thin, ammo's running low, blessings have already been used up, and the thought of pushing into an even harder sector without fully restocking can feel risky. Still, part of me really wanted to keep going, just to see how much further we could've made it with 15 waves already under our belt as a new personal record. That's honestly a solid milestone compared to where we started, and it shows how much this mode rewards you for sticking together as a team and managing your resources properly instead of just running in guns blazing every single wave.

I'm really hoping that in a future run we manage to reach all five sectors and see what's waiting at the very end. Something tells me the later sectors are going to throw some genuinely nasty surprises at us, especially if the jump in difficulty from sector 2 to sector 3 was already this noticeable. So, gamers, as always, it's been a pleasure sharing this with you, and I'll see you in a next post.

I love how Siege combines intense combat with strategic objectives, which makes the game even more interesting. I really enjoyed your presentation of the game
