Every vegetable we sell carries a part of our hard work, even the work done after harvest.
Hello Hivers! I hope you are all doing well.
When people talk about farming, they think about planting and harvesting. But in our family, there is another part of farming that I also do. I help prepare our vegetables before they are delivered to the market.
One of the crops we grow is radish. After around 40 days of planting, we can already harvest it, depending on its growth. For us, radish is a good crop because it grows fast and is easy to sell.
After harvesting the radish, we bring them home for washing. This is where I become hands-on. I am the one who washes the radishes and removes the soil left on them.
While washing, I sometimes think about how much work goes into producing the vegetables we sell. Before they reach the buyers, we still need to clean and prepare them. It look like a simple task, but it takes time, especially when we have many radish to wash.
I enjoy doing this work because I know I am helping our family earn from farming. As a woman in our family, I do not need to do every task in the field to be part of our farm business. I can help in my own way.
After washing, we let the radish drain for about 30 minutes. Then, we put them in cellophane bags. Once packed, they are ready for delivery to the market.
Our experience with radish I realize that growing vegetables is only one part of farming. We also need to prepare our harvest and find buyers who will purchase our products.
As a farmer's daughter and a woman who helps in our family farm, I see how each task matters. From planting to washing and packing, every step helps bring our products to the market. In this time of living everything we need hardwork.
farming is not just about the crops growing in the field. It is also about the work we do together as a family to earn a living. I am proud of our harvest beaches I believe this is our hard work and I sell it all I can buy our needs and my children can get what they want like snacks and food and need in school.
I am happy to share it with you because these everyday experiences are part of my story.
