Buenos días, comunidad de Street Art. Hoy les traigo este bonito mural sobre un perrito que fue muy famoso en todo mi país, Bolivia.
Así que empezaré mostrándoles el mural que le hicieron en su honor y por todo lo que hizo durante una época bastante problemática en la ciudad de Potosí, en el año 2015.

Para entender mejor este mural debo contarles la vida de este perrito y por qué se hizo tan famoso.
En julio de 2015, el Comité Cívico Potosinista (Comcipo) organizó una caminata de más de 500 kilómetros desde Potosí hasta La Paz para exigir al presidente de ese entonces (Evo Morales) mayor atención y desarrollo regional.
Durante esta caminata, el perrito se unió a los manifestantes en el camino, se encariñó con ellos y decidió caminar todo el trayecto a pesar del frío del altiplano. Además, el perrito resistió todo tipo de agresiones, como gasificaciones, chorros de agua y el estallido de cartuchos de dinamita.
Este perrito no huyó por nada del mundo ante los petardos, y eso fue lo que motivó a los marchistas a bautizarlo como “Petardo”. Su valentía y lealtad salieron en portadas de periódicos, canales de televisión y la BBC, lo que lo convirtió en un héroe popular de Potosí y de toda Bolivia Esa es la historia de este perrito. La verdad fue muy aclamado por la gente, creo que hasta desfiló por las calles y le hicieron una estatua en Potosí.
Luego de haber terminado todo este problema, Petardo vivió adoptado y cuidado en un hogar tranquilo junto a otros animales rescatados, hasta que falleció el 26 de agosto de 2025, a los 10 años de edad, debido a complicaciones de salud derivadas de su avanzada edad.
Ahora sí, si nos ponemos a analizar el mural, podemos entenderlo mejor. El perrito lleva un casco de minero y una bandana con los colores de la bandera de Potosí.
Detrás de él podemos ver que hay un grupo de manifestantes que están saliendo de las minas, con sus cascos y banderas de Bolivia. Más atrás también se ven las montañas que, imagino, representan algunas de las zonas mineras de donde se extraen varios minerales importantes.
Como pudieron observar, este mural tiene un gran impacto y una historia muy importante detrás. Por eso era importante contarles un poco de la historia de Petardo.

To better understand this mural, I must tell you the story of this little dog and why he became so famous.
In July 2015, the Civic Committee of Potosí (Comcipo) organized a walk of more than 500 kilometers from Potosí to La Paz to demand greater attention and regional development from the then-president (Evo Morales).
During this march, the little dog joined the protesters on the way, grew fond of them, and decided to walk the entire route despite the cold of the highlands. Moreover, the little dog endured all kinds of assaults, such as gas attacks, water jets, and the explosion of dynamite cartridges.
This little dog didn't run away from the firecrackers for anything in the world, and that was what motivated the marchers to name him "Petardo." His bravery and loyalty made headlines in newspapers, television channels, and the BBC, turning him into a popular hero of Potosí and all of Bolivia.
That is the story of this little dog. The truth is, he was very acclaimed by the people, I think he even paraded through the streets and they made a statue of him in Potosí.
After all this problem was resolved, Petardo lived adopted and cared for in a quiet home alongside other rescued animals, until he passed away on August 26, 2025, at the age of 10, due to health complications arising from his advanced age.
Now, if we start analyzing the mural, we can understand it better. The little dog is wearing a miner's helmet and a bandana with the colors of the Potosí flag.
Behind him, we can see a group of protesters coming out of the mines, with their helmets and Bolivian flags. Further back, you can also see the mountains which, I imagine, represent some of the mining areas where various important minerals are extracted.
As you could see, this mural has a great impact and a very important story behind it. That's why it was important to tell you a bit about the history of Petardo.
