Why sell when you can delegate?

Without considering the possibility of withdrawing / selling HIVE due to some specific need that needs to be met in the real world, sometimes I find myself thinking about the possibility of delegating HIVE POWER to other larger accounts. I don't know if this is a common activity around here, or if this has even ever been done... But it seems quite logical to me to make this kind of move, thinking about a long-term reward (without losing your rewards).

At least for those users who for some reason do not intend to remain active for some time (obviously leaving their respective accounts without any activity), making this “migration” of power tends to bring some benefits later on. Basically, because the rewards will continue to come in even if these users have chosen to be inactive. In the simplest scenario, that's how things happen... But rules need to be established. Each user has their own demands outside the digital realm.

If the HIVE POWER delegation is made to the accounts of projects that regularly distribute rewards at certain periods, the receiving process is automated and there is no need to perform regular checks. Of course, I am only considering known and trustworthy projects. In the case of delegations made to individual users' accounts, there needs to be an agreement between whoever makes the delegation and whoever is receiving this opportunity.

This second option will require a greater commitment from both parties, with more attention and dedication. Especially on the part of whoever will receive the delegation; because it will be necessary to pass the rewards on to whoever made the delegation (without the involvement of some kind of automation process, so to speak). Although the delegation can be reversed at any time... What is gained from it (in the case of being in other people's hands) is “lost”.

Therefore, the people involved in this type of “financial transaction” need to have mutual trust. Around here, this remains a difficult mission considering some traps that are scattered around. Under no circumstances should this decision be made based on frivolous considerations. Always weigh all possible scenarios before doing something of this nature, because although it is profitable (where you do not lose what you have already earned) there is still moderate risk.

Hive Power delegation helps concentrating the value for more meaningful curation. But indeed trust needs to be there, otherwise the curation might get gamed in the end.

Well, I believe that the reason someone might "withdraw" their money from Hive out of necessity is simply because they believe they "have no other alternative" and see that some HIVEs-which they will not receive instantly but over a long period of many weeks-can help them with their expenses or emergencies. People who do this either don't see HP/Hive as a long-term savings source or simply don't know the enormous potential they have by maintaining and growing it.

This is mostly due to a lack of information, communities or users with limited resources who are simply looking for financial alternatives to support themselves. I live in the third world, in the worst country in Latin America in terms of economy, so I consider Hive a pretty useful alternative. However, this does not change the fact that I am going to withdraw all the money I have saved in my account to buy what I need right now.

First, you need to be well-informed; that's the starting point. Then, explore alternatives, seek out contacts, or connect with users or projects that offer loan services or savings options. Over a year ago, I met a great user on Hive who has a small community, a business that has been around for many years, and who has been here since before Hive was founded. He's someone I can trust, and I've done business with him and he's helped me tremendously with tips, guides and recommendations for how to grow here at Hive.

He works with and supports different communities through her small project and has plans to grow and help others grow as well. His commitment to Hive and what he plans to do motivated me to entrust a good part of my HP to him alone, since he is someone who knows how to use voting power impartially.

    Good post.

I delegate about 50% of my HP to projects I "know, like and trust" which also offer some nice dividends every day or week. The rest I keep for my curation activity. Check my wallet to see the projects I favour! 😎 !ALIVE !BBH
