I just finished watching FRIENDLY FOE on Sonia Uche TV and I have to say, this movie really touched me. It is not just another Nollywood love story, it has a deep message.

Friendly Foe tells the story of Jite, played by Daniel Etim Effiong. He is a hardworking man, a good man, but he loves his career too much. Because of work, he slowly created a gap between him, his wife Gracie, and their little daughter. Many married people will relate to this.

Tragedy strikes when Gracie dies in an accident. That one moment changed everything. Jite was left to face grief, career problems, and the big responsibility of raising his young daughter alone. Daniel acted that pain so well, you will feel it.

But the problem did not end there. After his wife died, her mother, Georgina Doyle, came for him. She saw him as an opportunist and she was ready to take her granddaughter away from him completely. The fight for custody was intense.

Then there is May, played by Sonia Uche. At first, she was on Georgina's side. But as the story goes, she starts to see the truth. She becomes Jite's only support, and later, she falls in love with him. Their chemistry was natural and calm.

One scene I didn't really enjoy was when Jite came back home and saw 51 missed calls. He was shocked, he rushed out shouting his wife's name. The tension was building so well, I expected something bigger to happen in that moment........... But the way they handled that scene felt a bit rushed. They could have built more suspense there.

Apart from that small part, the movie was excellent. The picture quality from Premium Pictures Studio was clean, the acting was top, and the story teaches a big lesson.

What I learned:

  1. Career is important, but family is more important. Don't wait until you lose someone before you show love.
  2. Grief does not have a formula. Everyone heals differently.
  3. Sometimes your enemy today can become your biggest helper tomorrow. That's the real meaning of Friendly Foe.

My rating: 8.5 / 10. It is a family movie you can watch with everyone.

Have you watched Friendly Foe? What was your favorite part? Let me know in the comments.
