Greetings, @topfamily community! Today I’m joining the #TBTThursday contest and inviting @irenenavarroart to take part as well.
A beautiful and magical place.
One of the things I’d love to do again is visit Colonia Tovar—my goodness, that place is beautiful! I had such a wonderful experience there; the houses, the atmosphere—everything is incredibly relaxing. Colonia Tovar is a corner of Venezuela where you can get a taste of German culture, as it was founded by German immigrants. I was struck by how deeply rooted their customs still were—though I say "were" because it’s been many years since I last visited. When we went, we stayed in a cabin, and I remember my dad didn’t take a shower because it was freezing cold and there was no water heater. Since he’s someone who really struggles with the cold, taking a dip in icy water definitely wasn’t on his agenda—my mom even teased him, calling him a "slob."
That cabin was located right next to a small river—or perhaps a waterfall; it was more like a large, flowing spring. It was truly beautiful—magical, like something out of a fairy tale. We took a few photos there; some of them—the ones featuring my aunt, my mom, my cousin, and my sister—turned out a bit blurry, but this particular shot came out nicely, even with my messy, wild hair! At night, the place is stunning; beautiful lamps light up, casting a warm glow over everything. It’s definitely a must-visit tourist destination—much like Angel Falls, Mount Roraima, and various other spots. By the way, I also need to revisit Cubiro—though that’s a story for another time (provided I can find the photos!). There’s actually a rather traumatic reason why we never went back—not because of the place itself, but because of an accident. Still, it remains on my list, just like the "Cascada del Vino" (Waterfall of Wine). Tell me, what places are still on your travel bucket list?
