Greetings, @Family&Friends community…

On Monday the 21st, I celebrated my 30th birthday—yes, I’ve hit the big three-oh. Time has truly flown by. Despite the ups and downs of the past year, I am grateful to be alive and healthy; life has taught me that physical and mental well-being is the greatest gift of all. Even amidst the low points, anxiety, or moments of sadness, I have found strength in my family—including my four-legged babies. Sadly, one of them couldn't share this year with me, but I keep him close in my heart always.

I didn't really do much that day—partly because it was a Monday and we all had work, and also because, given my mom's condition, I wasn't really up for partying or long outings. Still, I didn't hesitate to treat myself; two days earlier, I had ordered a cake called "Angel's Kiss" from a friend. I wanted to support her small business, but I also really loved the cake when I first tried it—she’s truly talented at baking, and I hope she feels motivated to keep going and grow the business. In the end, she only charged me for the ingredients and gave me the labor for free; she really went above and beyond, making the cake even bigger than I’d asked for because she wanted to do it right and ensure everyone got a generous slice. I was so grateful—it was a solid 1000/10: moist and incredibly fresh.

That day, the power went out in the afternoon and didn't come back until nightfall—just imagine the unbearable heat. A cousin stopped by briefly to drop off a small gift, but they didn't stay long because her husband had to work. Many relatives sent their best wishes, and a neighbor gave me a gift as well; I shared some cake with her, and she devoured it in no time flat—it really made me laugh, because as we chatted, she kept eating until not a crumb was left, even though I had given her a generous portion.

In the end, I sang "Happy Birthday" with my dad, my sister, and my nephew (I didn't take photos with my sister because she was working); I had a great time. Plus, I managed to do something I thought was impossible: get photos with Angela and Oddie together—meaning my two dogs actually managed to pose with me, and the shots turned out really cute. It wasn't a huge celebration, but the fact that they took the time to wish me a happy birthday means the world to me. I am grateful for another year of life—even though I still haven't quite gotten used to being 30—while always holding fast to God's hand.
