[ESP-ING] A Road Trip Through Aragua and Guárico

photostudio_1792812231134.jpg

ENGLISH

Many of Venezuela’s roads look alike. This time, I’m taking you on a short tour through Aragua state and part of Guárico state. We started out with a short drive along the Bella Vista Highway. Even though it was a pretty busy day—one doesn’t usually see many cars on that road— we found very few of them and hardly any traffic on the road. The sun was shining brightly—it’s a really beautiful route with those green mountains you can make out in the distance.

One of the things I love about taking photos along the road—besides seeing the green mountains—is watching the clouds, like fluffy, radiant cotton balls in the sky. We always enjoy life by chatting and listening to a little music, and right now we were listening to gaitas, since gaitas are very representative of Christmas for us, and December is just around the corner.

On the drive from here to Guárico, there aren’t many trees, but as you get closer to Guárico, you start to see trees along the road or on the streets—just a few houses, little rural cottages—that remind you of those little towns you leave behind as you travel from one place to another. I love seeing the little houses along the side of the road.

Then, once we arrive in Guárico State, there are lots of trees along the road—small paths lined with trees on both sides—which provide plenty of shade and make the landscape feel cooler. Although the sun is still out, the shade from the trees brings a refreshing coolness and allows us to enjoy a more beautiful landscape and take even prettier photos.

The trip back was also beautiful, with the sun setting and evening falling, reminding us that it’s time to go home to be with our loved ones and enjoy a well-deserved rest. After all the hustle and bustle of the day, the sun sets and treats us to a beautiful sunset—who doesn’t recall God’s greatness in all His splendor? He is the greatest painter of all, for He paints us a marvelous sky.

Unfortunately, sometimes outings—not all of them—end well for us personally. We witnessed an accident involving a motorcyclist who was riding with another person; right on the highway, someone hit them, and apparently one person died. We had to witness that accident, and it was truly very sad. But otherwise, the whole trip was wonderful—a tour through parts of Aragua and Guárico.

Hearing gaitas while driving sounds like such a cozy way to get into the holiday spirit early. Those stretches of road where the trees meet overhead always make for the best shady drives too.
