[ESP-ING] My moments of true rest

My moments of true rest_20260928_220516_0000.png

ENGLISH

Greetings, dear community! This week, our friend @ifarmgirl has brought us some really great questions for the weekly contest, but I’m going with number two 2️⃣: What does true rest (downtime) look like for you? How can you give yourself more of it without feeling guilty? I found this to be an interesting question because, as women, we often have very little time for rest or downtime.

We women are always busy with so many activities, and at home, there’s never an end to the to-do list. Add a job outside the home to that, and there are even more demands. Taking some time to unwind can sometimes make us feel guilty because time flies by so quickly that we might view it as mere leisure—but that’s not the case, and we don’t realize that we deserve that rest time.

I always try to make time for rest. After lunch, I always set aside some time to relax and recover from the morning—we need to recharge. For example, 15 minutes can make all the difference, and even though this isn’t true rest, for me, it’s a good place to start. My rest time begins there: lying down, drifting off into a peaceful sleep, and doing absolutely nothing.

Getting a good rest is necessary for the body to regain its vitality, but it’s also necessary to rest the mind—and then watch a show or something on TV, while I lose myself in the big screen, staying there without thinking about anything. For me, taking my mind off things is important, no question about it. Without having to get up to do anything else, it can also be a time for reading and sleeping; I think sleeping is so important that I don’t mind lying in bed, doing things, and going back to sleep without feeling guilty.

One of the things that makes me feel guilty about overdoing it with rest and being inactive is that on those days I don’t do anything—especially in the afternoon. I free myself from cooking and from any household responsibilities. Sometimes I think I should go do something, but then I remember that I need it; we need to rest and clear our minds every once in a while—that’s very healthy.

It’s something I recommend—at least once a week or once a month, we should disconnect and enjoy some much-needed time just for ourselves, without guilt.

Love how you give yourself some downtime without feeling guilty, even when there is still work to be done. A few minutes' nap is good, especially when your mind switches off from many things that tend to bother people (e.g., responsibilities, chores, work). I agree; we should give ourselves time to pause, not only to recharge our physical bodies, but also our mental batteries. !LADY
