How Someone’s Kindness Inspired Mine

Whenever I see an act of kindness around me, it stays in my mind for a long time. Was I like this from the beginning? Obviously not. Because no one is perfect from the start. In the process of growing up we learn from our surroundings and the same thing happened with me. Incidents kept happening and I learned from it slowly.

Well, one Monday, our school had just ended earlier and I was standing and waiting for my dad because my mom was busy with some household work so she couldn't come. There at that time I was with my classmates. Then I looked back and saw a younger girl who is 4 years younger than me. She was from another class, she was sitting on the stairs and looked tired and worried. At first, I couldn't understand what she was doing as she kept looking at her tiffin box.

I stepped forward and asked if she needed something. She replied that her lunchbox had fallen and her food also fell out of the box on the floor. So, she was hungry since since morning. I asked why she didn't tell someone about it then she said she was too shy to ask for help, I couldn't say much to her as she wasn't wrong from her side.

I was thinking of giving her the money that mom had given me for the tiffin but, one of my classmates whom I barely knew he walked over. He took out his tiffin box from his bag and gave the girl half of the sandwich he had saved for later. He simply smiled and said to the little girl, “You can have it. I was not planning to eat it anyway.” He had done it so naturally, as if it wasn't a big deal. I have never seen boys doing such gesture specially of my classes and I was feeling good about it. Because I was getting positive vibes from him.

A few days later, when I saw him struggling with a project. So, no one was free and he was not feeling confident enough to ask for anyone's help so he was sitting all alone. And, I thought I should be helping him this time.

I talked to him personally and told him wait after the school because I wanted to help him finish his project. Then when our school ended, I taught him everything step by step just like one could teach a kid. I was doing it, because I felt that if he could be kind to a stranger without any expectations, I could also do the same as well. I wanted to feel the feeling of helping someone.

Since then, I have been helpful towards others. Even on Hive people had confusion about something, if I was knowledgeable about it then I would have gladly help. I don't care if they are grateful or not, I just like to help people whenever I can, I have no expectations in return.

In real life, if I ever saw someone was absent from the class then I would give them the notes which they had missed. I would save a seat for someone new because I don't mind sitting with strangers, also I love to meet new people. Sometimes, I would help our class captain to carry books to the library. If someone is thirsty I would give them my water bottle, if someone lost their pen I would give one of mine because I always carry 5-8 pens, hehe ( I always seem to lose my pens). Anyway, these things may seem very small but I now believe kindness does not have to be something big.

That one sandwich created a chain in my life. What happened here was, that I saw someone being kind and that inspired me to be kind towards that person because he is a kind person and he deserves it and later I started to spread this kindness for other people as well. I don't know what I just said, hopefully it's understandable, hehe. To be honest, it feels different when you help someone, like it can't be described in words. In conclusion, small actions can quietly inspire the next person.

Like they say, giving is not about waiting till you have abundance of everything, it is about willing to help no matter how little. The boy is indeed a natural giver, he might even be hungry too but he choose to prioritize the girl's need over his own.

How beautiful. This is amazing that he showed kindness towards a girl and offered lunch box. And in turn it also softens your heart. It's beautiful how small acts of kindness can make an impact on our lives and makes us act kindly and soothes us.

That's why it is said, if you want to change the world, first change yourself. fixing your own flaws and habits before trying to fix others is what gradually change the entire world. Your friend did something good that inspired you, and in the same way, something good you do will inspire someone else. 😊

Such a powerful lesson or experience I'll say. Sometimes, it takes just that one to affect us or our mindset about some things in life. It's good to see how that has impacted you and left you doing good for others as well. Keep the good chain going.
