Review Psycho-Pass ๐Ÿ‘ฎ A Thrilling Dive into Philosophy, Technology, and Justice

Review by @alienpunklord ยท 579d ยท of Psycho-Pass

Welcome to another art post here in the community.

Stop whatever you're doing and come with me, because today Iโ€™m going to talk about an anime that managed to blow my mind in several ways at once. Psycho-Pass. Seriously, if you havenโ€™t watched it yet, youโ€™re missing out on a feast of action, philosophy, and dilemmas.

Alright, let me explain the basics to you.
Imagine weโ€™re in a future somewhat like Black Mirror, where thereโ€™s a system called Sibyl that monitors your mind 24/7. Yes, friend, even those darkest thoughts you have at 3 a.m. donโ€™t escape. This system evaluates what they call the Crime Coefficient, a kind of score that determines how likely you are to commit a crime.

Thatโ€™s where our protagonist, Akane Tsunemori, comes in a rookie inspector whoโ€™s like that coworker who believes in the system a little too much. Akane starts the anime thinking Sibyl is perfect and that everyone should be grateful itโ€™s there to guarantee peace. But as the story unfolds, she realizes things arenโ€™t that simple. In fact, the more she learns about the system, the more she sees it can be just as corrupt as the criminals itโ€™s supposed to control.

Speaking of criminals, I need to mention the Enforcers, who are basically people with a Crime Coefficient too high to live in society but who work for the police as a kind of "hunting dog." And here comes the most badass character in the anime: Shinya Kogami. Kogami is the typical anti-hero you love to watch. Heโ€™s smart, full of internal dilemmas, and, despite working for the system, doesnโ€™t trust it for a second.

Now, if you think this is just another action anime, youโ€™re dead wrong. Psycho-Pass is a philosophy masterclass wrapped in chase scenes and futuristic weapons. Speaking of weapons, I have to highlight the Dominators, which are the main tools of inspectors and enforcers. These weapons have a scanner that reads the target's Crime Coefficient and adjusts the force automatically. If the coefficient is high, it can even kill the person on the spot. Is it brutal? Absolutely. But itโ€™s also fascinating how it reflects societyโ€™s blind trust in technology.

What hooked me the most about this anime is how much it makes you think about real life. After all, weโ€™re increasingly surrounded by systems that โ€œknowโ€ whatโ€™s best for us, whether itโ€™s Instagram algorithms or decisions made by an AI that no one fully understands. What if someone decided to create a real-life Sibyl tomorrow? Would you trust it to make fair decisions?

Another strong point is the animeโ€™s visuals. The world of Psycho-Pass is very cyberpunk, full of neon lights, advanced technology, and a dark vibe that perfectly matches the story. Every scene is a visual spectacle, and the soundtrack adds the finishing touch to immerse you in this dystopian future.

And look, I know some people might find the pacing a bit slow at times, but in my opinion, thatโ€™s where the anime shines. It gives you time to reflect, connect with the characters, and understand the nuances of the story.

If you enjoy plots that challenge your worldview, with complex characters and a good dose of action, Psycho-Pass is for you. Get ready to question everything from the laws we follow to the role of technology in our lives. And the best part? Itโ€™s not just an anime; itโ€™s an experience.

I love this series, it hits you where it hurts most. Whenever a friend says something very gory I tell her "your psycho pass is so shady" haha great post btw

Now I felt attacked ahahaha... this anime has been sitting for quite a long time in my to-watch list and I almost have forgotten about this one. The concept of a system that monitors minds was really intriguingโ€”so maybe one of these days I can give this a try. Thanks for sharing!

I always wanted to watch this anime, but never got to do it haha maybe because at that time it was not the style I used to watch, but now maybe I can understand and enjoy it, I like the design ๐Ÿ˜Š
