The story presents a futuristic world where a person's criminal coefficient can be measured by a psychological scanner, which determines if the person can commit crimes and if he is a possible criminal, our protagonist Akane Tsunemori, inspector recently assigned to "Unit 1" for her high grades at the university and her high IQ allows her to reach the unit and meet Shiya Kōgami who was previously also an inspector (but for mysterious reasons, I will not give spoiler of what happened to him) is demoted from his rank and placed as executor of said unit working together with Akane for the resolution and maintenance of peace in the city, along with the other members of the unit including Inspector Nobuchika Ginoza and executors Tomomi Masaoka, Shusei Kagari and Yayoi Konizuka.

The first season apart from explaining how the rigid psychological scanners work by the "sibyl system" of how this futuristic world is managed, they also present us with certain cases that make the interest of Akane and her subordinate Shinya change and investigate further why the system fails since there is a character with a low crime coefficient but they are potential criminals and causes the city to melt into chaos, then the mission of these heroes changes to catch him, but they have to do it on their own since the system in general reveals itself against them and they do not have the support of the main authorities. The end of the first season leaves a little confusion since Akane along with Shinya discover how the Silby system works and operates, which are pure brains of very intelligent people with a very high IQ which are organized in the main tower of the organization that developed this system, they tell Akane to join them however she rejects it and there ends the first season.

Psycho - Pass is a very underrated anime gem since its premiere apart from being a cyberpunk science fiction story among other currents, is also very well structured, it has influence from other anime and real-life stories and a philosophical message, since in the course of the story Akane is a person who follows the system and agrees with it, however when she gets deeper into it and sees situations that do not seem right to her, she begins to awaken, questioning many, one of them is the fact that people with a zero criminal coefficient which should be exemplary citizens are full of evil and cause havoc in the city being the worst criminals in the world and for this reason the system does not judge them, but there are people who do not have the intention of killing or doing anything wrong, unfortunately they have a high criminal coefficient and therefore are judged, taken to rehabilitation centers or placed as executioners, this was the case of several executioners in unit 1. I found the anime interesting, I only saw the first season, however it has three seasons and without more I Equivoco has two films. Psycho touches on philosophical issues such as justice and the relativity of this concept, what is truly right or wrong apart from many sociological themes that show the different realities that are not exempt from our daily lives, it is also an anime that reflects moral and ethical themes such as the existential crisis that Akane presents when she breaks what for her for so many years was the right thing to do and is on the wrong side of the scale in a system that is so advanced but at the same time full of flaws and double-moralism.

If what you want is to watch an anime to think for a while, make confounding theories, study cool topics of sociology, philosophy and history, Psycho-Pass is for you. The first season left me speechless and I'm waiting to see the second and third seasons, apart from the movies; It is an anime with a lot of lore and enough material to be successful, although for me it is a story that criticizes the system and its flaws and what these flaws can do to individuals in a negative way apart from showing both sides of the same coin, and that not all bad people are objects that do not deserve a second chance and not all people who appear to be good really are, that is why I say that it is an anime that shows the double standards of a system and various perspectives such as Akane's and Inspector Ginoza's who follows the system to the letter not wanting to accept the damage that it can achieve, we are shown psychological and behavioral profiles of attitudes that we can see day by day in topics such as politics where there are people who support a party to the death and do not want to study or observe more than their noses, others who challenge the system and the neutrals who do not care about anything as long as it does not affect them although it clearly will affect them, I think the most present sociological theme here would be the banality of evil and how far they can reach concepts such as ethics, morality and good.

  2. Psycho Pass - Can we punish someone for a crime they might commit ?@memess331d

Psycho pass anime take place in a futuristic version of Japan in which the country is governed by Sibyl an AI system than scan people mental states and rate them. This mental state and rating is making a "crime coefficient" which is a number predicting the probability/possibility that the person commit a crime. If the crime coefficient a certain threshold they can go in prison or be executed without further paperwork.

The anime is very well made and story have a good rhythm, antagonist & protagonist are both really well written.
I won't spoil it to you, but basically a rookie Akana have strong morals and question the system and if it still is justice or just hazardous. In the anime the antagonist is a sir that can commit as much crimes as he want without his psycho pass changing which make him "unbeatable" and will bring the protagonist to question her work.

The story is entertaining and interesting but that's not what we are here for, what i was paying the most attention at while watchin the anime was the core themes of this anime especially something that wouldn't really be concevable in today world, punishing people for crimes they might possibly commit in the future. I don't know for you but if tomorrow we change our current legal system (that is not perfect) for this supposedly perfect legal system i'm unsure if i would still enjoy life/ the way of living the same way. Another thing in this anime society is that every one seem like empty after always doing everything "perfectly" is it not everyday non-planned surprises that make the worth living ?

On a more strictly legal level, how could we know that the system is working correctly and not having any défaillance that send innocent people to prison or to death. What if we use a similar technology to detect "probable criminal" and then bring them to some sort of social help centers in which we understand what the trouble is and "heal" the want to commit a crime without ever punishing before a crime we could still afford to reduce crime but at the price of scanning everyone actions 24h/24 would you like such a system that kinda erase your privacy to reduce the criminality rate.

You can go deeper in the analysis and theorize a bit about how you would setup a similar system.
Last but not least, little meme to end the day : P

    REVIEW

Diving into Psycho Pass felt less like watching fiction and more like staring into a reflection I wasn’t prepared to see. The premise alone shook me: a society where your potential for criminal behavior is quantified and judged before you act. That concept wrapped around my thoughts for days, not because of how foreign it seemed, but because of how easily I could imagine it happening. Technology already predicts what we want to buy or who we might love. How far is it from predicting what we might destroy? I didn’t feel like a distant viewer. I felt like someone being measured, quietly, invisibly, always.

Learning about the Sybil System made me uncomfortable in a way I couldn’t ignore. It wasn’t the cold, futuristic mechanics of it that disturbed me most. It was the calm acceptance from the world around it. People had stopped questioning whether it was right to be watched so closely. They’d traded moral complexity for safety, and it looked peaceful on the outside. But underneath, there was a violence not in blood, but in surrender. That struck me personally. I started wondering how often I silence parts of myself to fit into systems I don’t understand but still obey. I started thinking of all the quiet ways we give up freedom every day, just to feel like we belong.

Cracks in the perfect system showed through the characters more than anything else. Akane’s journey was painful to witness because she never stopped hoping. She didn’t rebel the way I expected. She didn’t burn the world down. She stood in it. She stayed awake. Her strength came from looking into the worst parts of the world and still choosing to think. That hit me hard. I kept asking myself if I would do the same. Could I stay kind in a place that weaponizes fear? Could I stay open in a world where thinking too much might get me flagged? These weren’t just questions about the show. They became questions about me.

Every interaction between Kogami and Makishima felt like a philosophical duel more than a physical one. I watched them not as enemies, but as two broken reflections of justice. Kogami believes in consequences, even if the system is flawed. Makishima believes in chaos as honesty, even if it means harm. I didn’t know who disturbed me more. Part of me wanted Kogami to win. Another part feared that Makishima was right. The fact that I couldn’t find comfort in either side is what made the story powerful. It didn’t give me a hero to follow blindly. It forced me to sit in the gray, with no exit.

Truth is, this show didn’t just tell a story. It asked something of me. It asked me to examine what kind of world I’m helping build, what kind of control I’ve agreed to without realizing it. Watching Psycho Pass was like remembering something I had forgotten on purpose. It didn’t entertain me the way most anime does. It disturbed me into awareness. And in the quiet after the final scene, I wasn’t left with closure. I was left with questions I’ll probably carry for years.

  4. Psycho-Pass: The Movie (2015)@onlyjob531d

AI-governed techno-dystopia spreads democracy "happiness" from Japan to South-East Asia by helping regional tyrant to genocide local population, lying, cheating, betrayal, assassination, mass-murder and even secretly replacing leader of the nation with android, as any means justify expansion of de-humanising dominance of machine over people, depriving people of free will.

The movie is a continuation of propaganda series, with same traits like complete acceptance of "New World Order" by protagonist (as well as almost everyone else), and numerous hints about how you (the viewer) might be enslaved in the future.

Here is a short dialogue (15:05):

    – You're finally getting married! Congratulations! – Thanks. We've got matched-up by the Sibyl System. ... I have to admit, it did a better job at finding me a partner than I ever have. ... It hasn't all been smooth but ups and downs in love - that's just normal. I mean, big picture -- when Sibyl says it's found a perfect man for you, it's like, who am I to argue, right? ... Sibyl not only knows the path to true happiness for every single person in Japan, she sees that path clearer than they could ever hoped to see it themselves. ... One day Sibyl might actually save everyone in the whole world.

    And another (`1:39:20`):

    – (To Sibyl System:) You intervened in a country's domestic affairs. And worse, you conspired with a traitor to assassinate their leader. That's clearly an international crime! – Strictly speaking, there is no such thing as "domestic affairs" in this country any more. ... As of two years ago, [the country] ceased to be recognised as a federal nation. ... You claim that our endeavour here is a crime. However, a crime is a deviation from the law. – The law isn't just some guiding principle. It can't be sustained without full support and consent of the people. You never even tried to get the approval of the citizens, when you swooped in and started governing this place. All you did was con a dictator into doing your bidding. – ... All that we did here, was choose the most effective solution. – Chairman Hang, step down! Hold a free and fair election to let the people choose a new leader, and whether or not to use the Sibyl System. That decision should be theirs and theirs alone. – You honestly believe these people would reject us? That they would ever abandon the security of this utopian city, after actually grasping it in their hands? – The balancing of freedom and security is something that they have to determine for themselves. So that they can embrace the law as a positive force to uphold, rather just a set of rules to be obeyed. – You insist on going through the motions of this charade even though the outcome of the public vote would be entirely obvious. – ... Having a voice in shaping the government that represents you -- people have fought and died to achieve those rights.

(Then Sibyl system goes ahead with political theatre of staged election with pre-determined outcome to legitimise techno-tyranny, as protagonist insisted.)

And another (1:46:00), after victory of AI-controlled "government":

    – So what is all that mean? – It means we might not need our guns anymore.

I mean, filthiness of this cheap "philosophy" and propaganda garbage is over the top and its realism and accuracy makes it even more disgusting...

Apart from propaganda, the show is packed with nice visuals, action, violence, and incompetent hand-to-hand combat. It is entertaining enough to watch.

  5. Psycho Pass 「サイコパス」 (2012, 22 episodes)@onlyjob532d

Clever and entertaining punitive psychiatry dystopia saturated with propaganda and therefore disgusting. How would you like "authorised musician" (i.e. licensed), "anti-social movement of vandals and anarchists", "anti-establishment anarchists who must be eliminated" and the whole foundational concept of automated psychological (no, psychiatric) profiling to determine whether a person should live, or be imprisoned, or be terminated on the spot? Glorified police enforcers fight "crime" to protect society, because such tyrannical oppressive regime would only hunt clever murderers, right? Show makes direct references to Orwell's "1984". Few moral dilemmas are presented but nothing impressive.

In the world portrayed by this show, citizens can be issued a healthcare directive for immediate institutionalisation. People with psycho-pass readings above threshold are imprisoned for life or recruited as headhunters for those with stress level above normal.

In episode 14 a person is slowly murdered with a hammer in the midst of a crowd and people just standing around, filming. Nobody interferes or even reports the crime. We are told that's because people no longer know what the crime is, and what to do about it.

People committing violent crimes calmly, without exceeding psycho-pass threshold, are hunted and "disappeared" quietly and unofficially without due procedure or report, with such cases being classified.

Authors imagined dystopia well but didn't care to present it as something bad or undesirable: all characters accept the system, even the victims.

Police hunt of a serial killer remotely resembles Death Note but without supernatural.

This show is alike "Minority Report (2002)" but worse, because it is based not even upon immoral concept of pre-crimes, but on idea of punishable non-crimes by merely assessing psychological state (with an instrument): got too angry? - off you go to prison to cool down; got very angry? - be terminated on the spot.

Dystopia of this show have another interesting aspect: people are assigned jobs based on their test score, so one character points out that in the old days you'd have to think for yourself what to do in life, and nowadays it is so much easier just to have a job assigned.

Dynamic story full of action and suspense.

  6. Review Psycho-Pass 👮 A Thrilling Dive into Philosophy, Technology, and Justice@alienpunklord533d

Welcome to another art post here in the community.

Stop whatever you're doing and come with me, because today I’m going to talk about an anime that managed to blow my mind in several ways at once. Psycho-Pass. Seriously, if you haven’t watched it yet, you’re missing out on a feast of action, philosophy, and dilemmas.

Alright, let me explain the basics to you.
Imagine we’re in a future somewhat like Black Mirror, where there’s a system called Sibyl that monitors your mind 24/7. Yes, friend, even those darkest thoughts you have at 3 a.m. don’t escape. This system evaluates what they call the Crime Coefficient, a kind of score that determines how likely you are to commit a crime.

    image.png
    image.png

That’s where our protagonist, Akane Tsunemori, comes in a rookie inspector who’s like that coworker who believes in the system a little too much. Akane starts the anime thinking Sibyl is perfect and that everyone should be grateful it’s there to guarantee peace. But as the story unfolds, she realizes things aren’t that simple. In fact, the more she learns about the system, the more she sees it can be just as corrupt as the criminals it’s supposed to control.

Speaking of criminals, I need to mention the Enforcers, who are basically people with a Crime Coefficient too high to live in society but who work for the police as a kind of "hunting dog." And here comes the most badass character in the anime: Shinya Kogami. Kogami is the typical anti-hero you love to watch. He’s smart, full of internal dilemmas, and, despite working for the system, doesn’t trust it for a second.

    image.png
    image.png

Now, if you think this is just another action anime, you’re dead wrong. Psycho-Pass is a philosophy masterclass wrapped in chase scenes and futuristic weapons. Speaking of weapons, I have to highlight the Dominators, which are the main tools of inspectors and enforcers. These weapons have a scanner that reads the target's Crime Coefficient and adjusts the force automatically. If the coefficient is high, it can even kill the person on the spot. Is it brutal? Absolutely. But it’s also fascinating how it reflects society’s blind trust in technology.

What hooked me the most about this anime is how much it makes you think about real life. After all, we’re increasingly surrounded by systems that “know” what’s best for us, whether it’s Instagram algorithms or decisions made by an AI that no one fully understands. What if someone decided to create a real-life Sibyl tomorrow? Would you trust it to make fair decisions?

    image.png

Another strong point is the anime’s visuals. The world of Psycho-Pass is very cyberpunk, full of neon lights, advanced technology, and a dark vibe that perfectly matches the story. Every scene is a visual spectacle, and the soundtrack adds the finishing touch to immerse you in this dystopian future.

And look, I know some people might find the pacing a bit slow at times, but in my opinion, that’s where the anime shines. It gives you time to reflect, connect with the characters, and understand the nuances of the story.

    image.png

If you enjoy plots that challenge your worldview, with complex characters and a good dose of action, Psycho-Pass is for you. Get ready to question everything from the laws we follow to the role of technology in our lives. And the best part? It’s not just an anime; it’s an experience.

  7. Psycho Pass@seki1581d

If i were to say what urged me to start this show I'd say it's something more of a mental pull. I'd just finished writing the post for Haikyuu the dumpster battle and while on YouTube looking for the trailer, I watched an edit which included the scene of Makishima and Kogane fight and that scene stuck with me from there.

After a while, actually jist four days later, I searched and found that the scene actually originated from Psycho Pass and the anime psycho pass was on my list of things to watch. So here we are...

    Psycho Pass

*** ### Plot > It's a dystopian version of of modern Japan. Humans have progressed technology to the point of perfection. The Sibyl system, an AI capable of measuring humans mental capacities and turning them into numbers. These numbers are called their psycho pass. The psycho pass is the range at which the AI uses to join a citizen's possibility of being a criminal. Akane Tsunemori is a novice inspector assigned to the CID, the enforcers of the Sibyl 's will. Yet as she begins to grow more experienced, she's forced to realize that the perfect AI isn't as perfect as it's made to be. *** When talking about psychological anime shows, there's no list that wouldn't include psychopass, I for one have come across the name numerous times in the CBR ranking blogs.

There are loads of reasons to love this show. If not for the plot then maybe for the animation style which is able to blend dark and mild creepy elements to futuristic tech elements.

If not that you could be interested in the character development that they managed to include in just twenty two episodes of the first season.

The backstory of all major characters or even the huge revelation drop about Sibyl that'll make you nod your head in content of how unspeakably bizarre and peak and unexpected it is.

Yes... Those are all major reasons to love and really appreciate this series. Yet why I truly love this series is for none other than the major antagonist Makishima Shogou.

I've found myself being interested in insanely talented and smart evil geniuses and Makishima Shogou is a profile example. Yet another reason is because I empathize and support his claim amd ideal of Sibyl making humans lose their humanity.

What even impressed me the most is his distinct display of his claims and how true it was in his war against Sibyl arc.

Just one man capable of so much damage is the ideal criminal mastermind.

His chemistry with the hunting dog Kogane was great too. Their battle of wits and skills were cooly coordinated and animated. A true show of genuine human skills and it was a perfect break away for me from a fight of superhumans or insane powers.

Just a cop and a criminal going at it.

Despite Makishima, this show is a lovely one that'll make you really think about the potential future of AI and humans, it's also one that may pique your interest psychologically. I give this show a 9/10 and I recommend it to all...

  8. Psycho-Pass: The Movie Review@workaholic6661372d

    source

    Introduction

Hello, friends of The Anime Realm community, meet me again @workaholic666 who likes to discuss interesting anime and of course, I recommend it to friends who are interested, in this post I will do a review of the anime I just finished watching after finishing the previous season. You guys can read my previous post, which reviewed the first and second Psycho-Pass Anime Seasons:

This post is a continuation of the Second Season which is packaged in the form of a Movie with the title Psycho-Pass: The Movie which made me like all the aspects in it compared to the previous season.

    Psycho-Pass: The Movie

**Psycho-Pass: The Movie** was released by **Production I.G** in **2015** it is the first film from this Anime which has released two seasons with a different number of episodes in each season. The story begins when Japan is infiltrated by immigrant terrorists who want to carry out certain missions, the terrorist group looks very well trained in carrying out its actions, Inspector from the 1st Division **Tsunemori Akane** is assigned to catch the terrorists and manages to silence them all by being tried by the **Dominator**.

Sybil System is the original technology belonging to the Japanese government, for the first time the system was exported to a country in Southeast Asia that was at war between community groups, one of the areas in the country called Shambala Float was used as a place for the operation of the Sybil System which contained people - people who have low Psycho-Pass scores and live safely in the area.

Inspector Akane is assigned to go to Shambala Float to investigate the Sybil System being developed in the area while tracing the case of an immigrant terrorist group that previously attacked Japan. As the story progresses, while on patrol with the Shambala Float military, they are suddenly attacked by a terrorist group, and Inspector Akane gets out of the patrol car to investigate on his own, that's where he meets an old figure that Akane always thinks about.

Kougami Shinya reappears in Psycho-Pass: The Movie which makes Akane very surprised to see him.

    My Thought

The first time I saw the cover of **Psycho-Pass: The Movie** featuring the long lost character **Kougami Shinya** made me really interested to watch it as soon as I finished **Season two**. **Kougami** didn't appear in **Psycho-Pass 2** after he last appeared in the first season, it made me wonder why a character as important as **Kougami** didn't appear in the second season, suddenly in **Psycho-Pass: The Movie**, the reunion moment between **Akane** and **Kougami** gave me goosebumps when seeing the action of the two against the ***Shambala Float*** army with very clear and sharp visuals provides an unforgettable viewing sensation.

As I said in a previous post, all Psycho-Pass Anime is very suitable to watch today, even though it was released a few years ago, it is still not inferior to the anime released this year. Both in terms of visuals and stories, they cannot be distinguished because they are of the same quality and Psycho-Pass: The Movie provides visuals that in my opinion, are better than the second season of Psycho-Pass.

The duration of which is only two hours, in my opinion, is very uncomfortable because this film feels very short to enjoy because every moment is all fascinating and not boring for me, for a film it might be reasonable with a duration of two hours and I initially hoped if it was made per episode of the story in Shambala Float will be more interesting to watch.

    [source](https://gfycat.com/vibrantclassicaffenpinscher)

Kougami's actions in Psycho-Pass: The Movie are very memorable, when he first met Akane, then when he fought the mercenaries one by one he was hit with a capable martial technique. The moment when Kougami and Ginoza met, it really touched me when they both worked together to defeat their enemies.

    Conlusion

Psycho-Pass: The Movie managed to astonish me when I watched it, all the aspects in it make me want to always watch every sequel because the story that always manages to make the audience surprised and full of emotion makes us as viewers always remember the epic moments in this film also stunning and capable visuals from Production I.G very thumbs up.

  9. Psycho Pass: Cyberpunk Mystery Anime at I'ts Finest@workaholic6661399d

    source

Hello friends, all members of The Anime Realm community. In this post, I want to share an anime that I just finished watching, even though this anime was released more than five years ago but I am still excited to share it with all of you because I highly recommend this anime even though it is quite an old school. The anime I'm discussing this time is Psycho-Pass.

I accidentally found this Anime when I saw shows on social media that discussed several Anime titles that were released a few years but are still very worth watching this year because, in terms of visuals and stories that are presented, they can be compared with the Anime that was released recently.

    Storyline

This Pyscho Pass Anime aired on TV in 2012 with the Cyberpunk, Psychological Thriller, and Crime Action genres whose visuals are so futuristic even if you watch it this time. This anime is set in the future era, where technology that can measure a person's personality, and mental state with a system called Sybil, this system can measure the value of a person's Crime Coefficient which if the value exceeds the provisions it will be considered a criminal act which must be acted upon so as not to endanger society.

Sybil system uses supercomputer technology that functions as a justice system in enforcing the law and deciding whether someone's behaviour is right or wrong by measuring the Pyscho Pass value. Those who have a criminal coefficient value that exceeds the limit will be arrested by the Police from the Criminal Investigation Department Unit to be rehabilitated or even eliminated so as not to create a crime in society.

The story begins with a character named Tsunemori Akane coming to the scene of a kidnapping case carried out by a person with a criminal coefficient that exceeds the limit. Akane is a police officer who has just been appointed Inspector Unit 1 of the Criminal Investigation Department and immediately joins into the field to solve the case because it is needed.

    source

**Akane** guided by her senior named **Inspector Ginoza**, who is accompanied by a latent criminal who is assigned to the **Enforcement** team to help the Inspectors catch people who have a **Psycho-Pass** value that exceeds the limit. **Inspectors** and **Enforcers** are equipped with a weapon called the **Dominator**, a special weapon from the **Criminal Investment Department** in which a system is embedded to prosecute someone who has a high criminal coefficient.

**Division 1** is divided into 2 groups, each group is led by an Inspector and two Enforcers, at the beginning of the story Inspector **Akane** is accompanied by Mediators **Kougami Shinya** and **Masaoka**, and the next group is led by Inspector Ginoza with Enforcers **Kunizuka** and **Kagari**.

Whenever a case occurs, the Inspectors can change the Enforcer who is accompanying them according to their needs.

In the first case for Inspector Tsunemori Akane was hard for her to try the kidnap suspect with the Dominator because his Psycho-Pass indicated that the person must be exterminated. Akane didn't have the heart to do it and waited for the suspect's Psycho-Pass to drop to the non-lethal paralyzing level, unable to stand the attitude that Akane had made, Enforcer Kougami want to prosecute the suspect with his Dominator, and Akane instead aimed the Dominator at Kougami and shot him with a non-lethal paralysis level.

Kougami fell, and Akane felt guilty at that time, long story short, Inspector Tsunemori Akane's first case was finished, and the suspect was caught without killing him.

    source

After that, this Anime story focuses on Division 1 Inspectors and Enforcers in dealing with other criminal cases, the Sybil system becomes the main topic of the story as the episode progresses because there are many irregularities in the system that make crimes measured by the value of a person's Psycho-Pass not as perfect as said by Head of the Security Department.

Then as the story continues, the criminal cases faced by Division 1 of the Criminal Investigation Department are increasingly dangerous, and the mastermind behind all the crimes that occur appears. The figure named is **Makishima Shougo**, he is a criminal who cannot be prosecuted by the Sybil system, nor can the **Dominator** weapon be used against him. When the Inspector points the Dominator at **Makishima**, the Dominator cannot be prosecuted because Makishima's **Psycho-Pass** value is below 100, and Sybil's system does not consider it a crime.

    My Thought

I don't really like anime with a future setting, at the beginning of the episode, I watched it without excessive expectations because, before that, I didn't find out anything about this anime and just watched it. As the story progressed, I began to like the storyline that was presented, the plot that made the audience think critically and how humans were made submissive by the Sybil system which kept a lot of mysteries about how it worked.

The character Tsunemori Akane here, in my opinion, is very suitable to be juxtaposed with Kougami Shinya, who has the instinct to detect the way the criminal is doing to carry out his actions. Several times Kougami managed to get into the traps that Makishima arranged very complexly. My emotions mixed up as the story continues.

I just finished watching the first season of Psycho-Pass and the rating I can give is 9/10, I enjoy the visuals presented by this Anime, and so unpredictable, an enigmatic storyline in each episode makes the audience feel very emotional.

Disclaimer: I don't mean to spoiler and this is purely my personal opinion after watching this anime.

  10. Psycho Pass: The Movie | [(ENG)-(ESP)]@jjdrax1722d

Psycho Pass is a story that from its beginnings has shown us an overflowing talent. With a quite original plot, the film takes us further into the history of this science fiction Universe where politics, technology and war are of the utmost importance.

It is the year 2116 and in Japan they use a technology called SYBIL to detect something they call crime coefficient, this to prevent crime in an automated way in citizens. Apparently in Japan it was a success and the other world powers wanted to implement it as well.

SEaun is a collision of a Southeast Asian country that buys this technology from the Japanese. On the other hand, in Japan there are terrorist attacks and the government suspects that Kougami Shinya (a deserter from the system) is behind all this, located in Seaun. Of course, the SEaun government opens the doors to Japanese intelligence so that they can investigate this subject more closely.

Akane Tsunemori is in charge of investigating this case and is soon heading to this territory. During his stay in that place he begins to notice things that are not right and he realizes the chaos that reigns in the place due to a civil war. With this argument begins the Pycho Pass movie, an anime that will leave you speechless if you are a fan of animated science fiction. Here you can find elements of action, police investigation, war and also a psychological thriller although less elaborate than in the first season of the series. The action scenes next to the soundtrack are exciting, producing the necessary tension to get hooked watching the movie. However, the first part of this animation gradually reveals all the mysteries that happen in SEaun until reaching a chaotic climax that I honestly did not expect.

I had watched the Psycho Pass series a long time ago and had vague memories when watching the movie but you can say with complete confidence that it is not necessary to have to be aware of what happened in the series. The film does its own work and despite not being a completely exclusive plot of the series, there will be no problem if you have not seen the first season of the series.

Something a bit criticized about the series is that they have a cast of voices that must speak in English but the Japanese accent is so strong that it leaves much to be desired. I do not understand how difficult it was to contact a native of English to be able to dub these characters but the fact is that this was a real disaster and the bad work of the voices that try to emulate an American accent but cannot do it is very noticeable.

Focusing now on the plot, I consider this to be a very well crafted dystocia that follows one of the pillars of science fiction, "Brave New World." This is a cyberpunk story that is not decadent but on the contrary, technology complies with a perfect order at the cost of taking away the privacy and freedom of its citizens.

Things similar to this can be seen today and of course to a lesser extent in countries like China, where a huge network of security cameras monitoring every aspect of its citizens. Despite all this, most of the Chinese population says they agree with these measures since the crime rate has dropped considerably.

The truth is that Psycho Pass is not far from being a possible future somewhere on our planet. Governments are increasingly interested in invading our privacy and punishing subversive people who do not wish to fulfill their objectives. I agree that punishing crime is necessary and enforcing the law but as long as that law is democratized and an election of a majority. When the law is only of a few, it falls into the terrain of autocracy and authoritarianism, which unleashes a tyranny.

Nor do I believe that violating privacy in every aspect of our life is the best way to achieve peace. In addition, there will always be people capable of tampering with any code, any technology and any system in order to achieve their misdeeds. Evil and goodness are a choice and intrinsic parts of what it is to be human, it is more important to create a value system and a high education at an early age in order to raise awareness among the population.

In a world where scientism and addiction to technology is everything, values and ethics little by little go unnoticed, forming a fracture in our society. I have always thought that learning about this from a young age could help us a lot to grow in a better way, however invasion and power are much easier than education and awareness of human beings.

    Review in English
    Crítica en Español

It has been several months since the last time I saw Psycho-Pass and I was getting kind of thirsty for more of its content. I binge-watched all of Psycho-Pass except the First Inspector back when I began to watch this series and eventually I wanted to watch a different kind of anime, so I put this anime aside to focus on others such as Steins;Gate and Serial Experiments Lain. Now that I have finished watching those some time ago, I figured it was a good time to get back to Psycho-Pass.

Psycho-Pass takes place in a futuristic Japan, where thanks to technological innovations, the police has a tool that can instantly analyze any person and determine how prone is that person to commit a crime. Those that are determined to possess violent tendencies can be treated as criminals even if they are completely innocent.

First Inspector is divided into 3 different parts, each of them lasting around 45 minutes. The story begins with a massive attack using very advanced technology against an important and huge government building causing major chaos and massive deaths. The security forces are taken by surprise because they weren't expecting such a sophisticated attack and are forced to deal with extremely challenging circumstances.

As is usually the case with Psycho-Pass, the villain is a very intelligent person who always seems to be one step ahead of those trying to stop him, however, the good guys will slowly catch up to him as the story advances, not without suffering important losses first of course. We will only learn about his real goal in the third part of this story. At the beginning, he just appears as a bloodthirsty terrorist.

We will see cool action scenes involving robots and other types of futuristic technology, but when it comes to the plot I have grown tired of Psycho-Pass. There are always people that hate the Sibyl system and want to take extreme measures to change something about it, and this time is not the exception. After watching so many stories taking place in this world, the novelty of this futuristic Japan begins to disappear and sadly, First Inspector wasn't entertaining enough for me. The visuals were better than ever though, and there is a clear difference for the better between the first season of Psycho Pass and its latests productions.

I still recommend watching Psycho Pass but maybe not all of its content. The series has clearly been overmilked by a lot, and it is harder and harder for the creators to come up with new interesting ideas to explore in this world. People who enjoy scifi should at least watch season 1 and season 2. I don't think I will continue watching more Psycho Pass in the future, but I can say with confidence that it provided with a lot of entertainment at the beginning.

Have in mind the main characters in Psycho Pass change with time, this isn't an anthology per se, but the events in the first seasons are almost completely unrelated with the events in the latest productions. And the main characters also change, although some of them appear again as secondary characters from time to time. All in all, I recommend watching Psycho Pass, but not all of its content.

  12. Psycho-Pass Season 1 (8/10) - “I wonder what sort of criteria you use to divide people into good and evil.”@dedicatedguy2051d

    image.png

    Source

This is a Japanese anime series with a very futuristic take where they have developed the technology to instantly assess if a person is a potential criminal or just a peaceful citizen. The Sibyl system, which is the name they give to this powerful tool, is so precise in its assessments that the police weapons can only shoot if the person they're pointing the weapon at is a potential criminal.

Innocent until proven guilty is of no use in this futuristic and potentially dystopic Japanese society. What the Sibyl system says goes and it might not be such a perfect and exemplary system as most people believe. The system uses a crime coefficient which is displayed as a number and above a certain threshold, the person will have problems even if they haven't committed anything wrong.

The series is about a team of detectives and their subordinates who are called executors. These executors are potential criminals that are allowed to live mostly as normal humans just because they work with the police and do the dirty work for them.

    1.jpg

    Source

The crime coefficient isn't like the IQ that pretty much stays the same throughout the person's life. The crime coefficient can change if the person goes through very traumatic experiences. If the effects of the traumas are too much, the person has the risk of being permanently considered a potential criminal for life.

Every villain in the first season is a murderer but the main one is a very special person. Incredibly smart, ideologically against the control of the Sibyl System, and willing to combine all of his skills to bring it all down. He might have good reasons to be against the Sibyl system but his methods are maybe too radical.

If you enjoy scifi anime with a cyberpunk touch this would be an excellent watch. The universe has a lot of content to offer there are several seasons already produced as well as some movies so I expect a lot of ramifications to be explored. The season has several surprises and twists and the biggest one will be to see what is exactly the Sibyl system and how it was created. This is a very promising show and I will begin watching season 2 soon enough.

    The best

    • Very interesting concept even though it might be far fetched and sometimes impractical.
    • The setting provides room for many more stories and I am looking forward to seeing season 2.

    The worst

    • The weapons were too slow to release the trigger which could be risky for the police and executors.
    • The true face of the Sibyl system looked very impractical. The creators tried to make it look like a sophisticated place but with so many moving parts it looked as if something was about to break at any given time.

  13. Psycho-Pass The Movie@dlstudios2376d

    image.png

So I went into this movie thinking it would fill in the blanks between seasons two and three of Psycho-Pass. I was wrong, there is no connection at all. Still, though, I enjoyed the movie and it was a fun watch, so I'll still talk about it. Just look at it like most anime films that connect to a series, it's not important. I am also going to assume you have made it through season two of Psycho-Pass since it takes place after and things I need to talk about will be spoilers. And you really should watch Psycho-Pass, it's a great anime.

The movie takes place after season two and has our main character, Inspector Akane Tsunimori, investigating a terrorist cell outside the boundaries of Japan. The entire series takes place in Japan as it's Isolated itself from the world under control of the Sybil System, so it's interesting to see the system attempting to reach its hands outside of the borders of Japan, as well as seeing the state of the outside world. It adds a bit of context as to why a society may be okay living under the Big Brother that the Sybil system is portrayed as.

After it is revealed that former enforcer Kogami, who escaped Japan after the events of season one, might be working with the rebel forces, and wasn't seen throughout season two. From the audience's perspective, it's a treat because he was the main character throughout season one, and from a narrative point of view, it's great to see the two of them come together again due to their history.

    image.png

Beyond that, I would say this feels a lot like an extended episode of the anime. It holds all the same themes of the show, that being the ever-moving line between liberty and security, as well as Akane's fascinating relationship she has with the Sybil System itself.

The main bit of mystery surrounding the plot is there seems to be a misapplication of the Sybil System in the area, as one of the local military factions had made a deal with Japan to export the Sybil System to maintain order. The problem being any would-be dictator should, by default, register a high Psycho-Pass and thus be deemed a target. The situation gets a great reveal and fits in line with anything we know about the operations of Sybil as well as expanding on what we know.

The issue comes in with the mercenaries that get hired to eliminate Kogami and Akane, as the leader of them is involved in the shows action climax. The problem is his motivation and issues with Kogami are rather unrelated to Sybil, or for that matter the conflict going on at all, Kogami just doesn't like him. Don't get me wrong, the fights involving him and the animations are fantastic, but it feels largely disconnected from what we are watching the movie for.

    image.png

If you have seen the anime, you'll already know if you are going to like the movie or not, and if you haven't seen the anime you are going to be missing out on all the context you would need to grasp what's going on. You'll follow the plot just fine, but considering the movie does nothing to explain what Criminally Asymmetric means, or the truth behind how Sybil operates and Akane being the only person that understands it, a lot of what happens wouldn't have the same impact. The movie is a great watch for fans of the series, but for anyone who hasn't watched the show already, there isn't much here for you.

Also, don't forget I am running a Fan Art contest with 35 Steem in prizes, the theme being Fan Art of any games that made my Top Ten of the Year. 14. Psycho-Pass, Ego, Sanity and The Origins of My STEEM Name + OSHO@vimukthi2881d

I found this comment on a YouTube video on Psycho-Pass which is one of my favorite anime ever made. If you are wondering where my name comes from, it is from this masterpiece which also had two amazing (but lesser quality) sequels (a movie and a series). I use @vimukthi as my account name and it means "liberation" and it is used in a more positive sense than a term like anarchy and it also has a more spiritual and non-violent touch (except for the occasions where commies hijack the definition). I'm with Makishima Shougo on most points except for the violation of the NAP. I'm a massive supporter of Libertarianism/ Anarcho-capitalism. So my STEEM name isn't exactly anything even close to random.

__I love this guy so much, I agree with pretty much all of his view points (though I do question his methods). Books(I love reading), society(I have no liking for it), people(sheep, narrow minded persons that focus to much on intellect and pretty much not any on wisdom), I love almost everything about him. I don't even have I problem with him being insane, since really being insane isn't an actual problem, him being a psycho path is the problem (though I do admit that I like him as a psycho path). I also have a theory about being crazy and sane, though I'm not going to go into details with it other than saying this. My theory is that there is no being crazy or sane or to put another way being crazy is being or having a personality that is different, and being sane is having a personality that is just like every other human. If anyone sees this comment and wants me to go into a deep explanation with this theory let me know. P.S I hate that Makishima is dead, they should have kept him as an antagonist. Somehow.__

__Okay, I'm willing to go into it if you're interested, though I can't promise that I'll explain it well. And if there is anything that you disagree with tell me. I will start with this question. What is insanity? And I'm not talking about the official definition of the word. I'm talking about the context that almost everyone uses when calling someone crazy. I believe the answer is when someone acts differently from anyone else. I'm not saying that these people are not a danger to others in a number of cases. But there are lots of cases where we call that person insane because they act a certain way from everyone else. Why should this be a bad thing? We treat it like it is. In some cases yes, that person may have brain damage or a tumor, or something like that making them act the way they do. But there are lots of cases where they act the way they do because it's who they are. We label them with "Disorders" but really it's not a disorder, it's simply the way they think. It's almost like society is afraid of individuality. In fact I think it is, It's afraid of anything disrupting the flow of what they call normal. In essence, it's them herding sheep, but that's a completely different discussion. But that, in essence, is what I based my theory off. Apologies if this is not an adequate explanation and if you have an argument of otherwise please tell me.__

Ego - The False Center by OSHO

Instead of adding much of my own comments, I ask you to try give the above piece of writing a good read. Maybe you'll need few reads to fully grasp things. That's okay. It's far better that perfectly understanding books worth of drivel. Here is a more relevant quote from the OSHO's writing:

They are not concerned with you.

They are concerned with the society.

Society is concerned with itself, and that's how it should be.

They are not concerned that you should become a self-knower. They are concerned that you should become an efficient part in the mechanism of the society. You should fit into the pattern. So they are trying to give you an ego that fits with the society. They teach you morality. Morality means giving you an ego which will fit with the society. If you are immoral, you will always be a misfit somewhere or other. That's why we put criminals in the prisons - not that they have done something wrong, not that by putting them in the prisons we are going to improve them, no. They simply don't fit. They are troublemakers. They have certain types of egos of which the society doesn't approve. If the society approves, everything is good.

One man kills somebody - he is a murderer.

And the same man in wartime kills thousands - he becomes a great hero. The society is not bothered by a murder, but the murder should be commited for the society - then it is okay. The society doesn't bother about morality.

Morality means only that you should fit with the society.

If the society is at war, then the morality changes.

If the society is at peace, then there is a different morality.

Morality is a social politics. It is diplomacy. And each child has to be brought up in such a way that he fits into the society, that's all. Because society is interested in efficient members. Society is not interested that you should attain to self-knowledge.

The society creates an ego because the ego can be controlled and manipulated. The self can never be controlled or manipulated. Nobody has ever heard of the society controlling a self - not possible.

This is what idiosyncrasy liberate you from. This is the key to Makishima and the Sybil system. Give it some thought. I might actually end up writing a Anime Theory post on this in the future. So keep following for more :-)

  15. Opinión del anime: psycho Pass.@huesos3030d

    (wallpaper realizado por mí)

Año: 2012– Genero: Drama, misterio, cyberpunk, psicológico, investigación. –Duración: 22 episodios.

    Sinopsis:

    Makishima Shogo 20170916_215726.jpg

Hi everyone! I haven't seen anyone drawing the characters from this anime here...I'm hoping that someone will recognize him... Psycho-pass is a crime thriller anime...very violent. I wouldn't enjoy this kind of very dark and mind twisting show if it was live action but I enjoy it as an anime. I drew this back in February this year. It's drawn with parallele hatching.
