   Welcome my dear futuristic travelers of the internet and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, on several occasions I have heard about this retro film as one of the best cyberpunk works, recently I accidentally came across it while looking for another film and decided Don't put it off any longer and watch “Ghost in the Shell.” Without further ado, get ready to interact with cyborgs because we are about to begin.

   Ghost in the Shell is a Japanese animation released in 1995, it is based on the eponymous manga by Masamune Shirow, directed by Mamoru Oshii, produced by Production I.G, Kōdansha, among others, and has a duration of 1 hour and 22 minutes.    I find the animation extremely beautiful, it is full of details and extremely amazing moments that excellently represent the futuristic world in which the events unfold, it has a very good level of fluidity that is perfect for the different action sequences that houses.

   The soundtrack accompanies the different interesting moments of the film in a very good way, on more than one occasion they make the various scenes come to life and the feelings that are present in them gain more strength, in addition, it adapts perfectly to the various situations that occur throughout the film.

   The world building is excellent, throughout the film various elements are shown that make it clear that everything takes place in the future, this is achieved by introducing subtle elements in the scenery that help build the futuristic context, for example. On the other hand, the different brief glimpses given to society are pleasant, as they fleetingly show the life of the average citizen, which makes the setting even more enriched. The society it establishes is interesting, the above is because at the political level innovations play a fundamental role both at the diplomatic and espionage levels, this is a success because it maintains that feeling that it is a humanity that has evolved, ergo , the different social environments evolved in one way or another.

   La construcción de mundo es excelente, a lo largo del filme se van mostrando diversos elementos que dejan claro que todo se desarrolla en el futuro, lo anterior lo logra mediante la introducción de elementos sutiles en la escenografía que ayudan a construir el contexto futurista, por otro lado, es agradable los diferentes breves vistazos que se le dan a la sociedad siendo que muestran de forma fugaz la vida del ciudadano promedio lo que produce que su ambientación se enriquezca aún más. La sociedad que establece es interesante, lo anterior se debe a que a nivel político las innovaciones juegan un papel fundamental tanto a nivel diplomático como de espionaje, esto es un acierto debido a que mantiene ese sentimiento de que es una humanidad que ha evolucionado, ergo, los diferentes ambientes sociales evolucionaron de una u otra forma.

Although all these questions are steeped in the futuristic theme, they are still interesting because of the different perspectives they can have; The above is captivating but unfortunately the film does not delve deeper into the subject as much as I would have liked. The duration is well used, each minute is used intelligently to expand the world or to advance the plot, this means that it does not have boring moments, I would even dare to say that all the concepts it has could allow the duration of the animation to be extended further.

   La trama es sumamente interesante, a lo largo de esta se van mostrando momentos reflexivos y de acción por igual, lo que hace que en todo momento la animación tenga algo que llame la atención, un elemento que considero un acierto es el hecho de que no explica punto por punto todo lo que pasa, sino que va mostrando y aportando los datos necesarios para poder entender, esto hace que el desarrollo de la premisa se sienta muy orgánico y natural. Narrativamente es complejo pese a que tiene momentos violentos, sin embargo estos no acaparan un exceso de tiempo en pantalla, parte del tiempo se invierte en cierto debate filosófico sobre ¿Qué nos hace humanos? ¿Puede un ser inorgánico considerarse vivo? ¿Hasta qué punto un cyborg es humano? Si bien todas esas interrogantes se encuentran empapadas de la temática futurista siguen siendo interesantes por las diferentes perspectivas que pueden llegar a tener; lo anterior es atrapante pero desgraciadamente el filme no ahonda más en el tema tanto como me hubiese gustado. La duración se encuentra bien utilizada, cada minuto es utilizado inteligentemente para expandir el mundo o para avanzar la trama, esto hace que no tenga momentos aburridos, incluso me atrevería a decir que todos los conceptos que tiene podían permitir extender más la duración de la animación.

   The characters individually do not have much to contribute, however, they are very interesting conceptually speaking, this is because through them the debate that I mentioned previously is represented, although this dilemma is captivating, it is a mistake that the characters are not truly affected by said philosophical question, I consider it a waste of potential because it could have been the cornerstone to give them a certain degree of depth. The villain suffers from exactly the same thing, conceptually he is a rock star but when you analyze him individually he lacks many elements that make him feel like a truly complex character. Broadly speaking, they are good, although in general they could have been much better.

   Los personajes individualmente no tienen mucho que aportar, no obstante estos son muy interesantes conceptualmente hablando, esto se debe a que mediante estos es que se representa el debate que mencione previamente, si bien esta disyuntiva es atrapante es un desacierto el hecho de que los personajes no se vean verdaderamente afectados por dicha cuestión filosófica, considero que fue un desperdicio de potencial debido a que pudo haber sido la piedra angular para darles cierto grado de profundidad. El villano sufre exactamente de lo mismo, conceptualmente es una estrella de rock pero cuando lo analizas individualmente carece de muchos elementos que lo hagan sentir como un verdadero personaje complejo. A grandes rasgos están bien aunque pudieron en general ser muchísimo mejores.

   
   

   

   Ghost in the Shell is exactly what I imagine when I think of cyberpunk, a world that is constantly changing due to the innovations reflected by a society that is inevitably involved, it is nice that it introduces the debate about consciousness and what It means being alive, they are generally good elements, the only bad thing is that all the potential they had was not exploited. It is for all of the above that it deserves 4.5 stars out of 7, although it has some errors, it is still an animation that teaches about what it means to create a dystopian future.

   No es la primera vez que comento que me encanta ir al cine, disfruto ir sentarme y ver una película, me olvido de todo a mi alrededor y saboreo al máximo, considero ese rato solo mío y por ello, si tengo que ir sola a ver la película, pues es genial porque no deseo que me interrumpan; como es de imaginarse, además es algo lógico con el tema Covid-19 no he podido disfrutar de esto, pero ahora con Netflix en casa he podido ver unas cuantas películas y series que he en su mayoría he disfrutado y que me permiten además tener material para subir publicaciones acá en #HIVE, así que genial. mi publicación de hoy gira en torno de una película de ciencia ficción protagonizada por Scarlett Johansson.

My post today revolves around a sci-fi movie starring Scarlett Johansson.

   Lo primero que diré es que esta es una adaptación de un manga, que también fue llevado al anime, el cual no he leído ni visto, pero ahora esta en mi lista de pendientes, esta adaptación o versión cinematográfica no fue muy bien recibida por la critica y el público, pero en mi opinión es una película para entretener un rato viendo tele, ya que ese es el propósito final de las películas y series, entretener.

   The first thing I will say is that this is an adaptation of a manga, which was also taken to anime, which I have not read or seen, but now is on my to watch list, this adaptation or film version was not very well received by critics and the public, but in my opinion is a movie to entertain a while watching TV, since that is the ultimate purpose of movies and series, to entertain.

   Ahora bien, la película comienza con unas personas que transportan una persona al parecer herida de gravedad, se escucha cuando indican que realizan un rescate cerebral para insertarlo en un cuerpo artificial, luego de un año la chica resultado de este experimento está en el techo de un edificio comunicándose por radio con el resto de su equipo, ella es la mayor Mira Killian, un híbrido de cyborg y humana único en su especie, o eso se creía, quien forma parte de un grupo de élite de operaciones especiales llamado Sección 9 en un Japón futurista.

   Sobre esto último, es interesante ese Japón futurista que nos muestran ya que conserva partes de la civilización actual, pero con avances y parte de decadencia, hay implantes o mejoras de todo tipo para humanos, además de damas de compañía tanto humanas como mejoradas, ósea toda una mezcolanza, además de robots que cumplen determinadas funciones, es una composición interesante.

   I admit that I was not a fan of this story and / or game in the past. That is not to say that I wouldn't have been but I was just never exposed to it. I think many of the people who saw this in theaters probably were unfamiliar with the manga and perhaps we looked at the film differently than long-time fans.

   With an absolutely massive budget of 110 million dollars, it should come as no surprise that the visuals and action sequences in the film are incredible. From the very start of the film we are drawn in by the magnificent effects. I found the battle with the spider geisha to be particularly awesome.

   This ominous start gives us a quick introduction to the Section 9 counter-terrorism group and also to "Major" who is played by Scarlett Johansson. In the future it seems as though most humans have some sort of cybernetic enhancements, and Major is an extreme example of this.

   One part of this movie that irritated me was the Chief Daisuke Aramaki - the leader of Section 9, speaks Japanese exclusively to everyone and everyone understands all of what he says but never speaks Japanese back to him. It seems a bit dumb to do this but I suppose they had their reasons.

   The lack of character development or any real kind of story was disappointing because what is going on is confusing enough and this is made worse by it not really being explained at any point. Despite the constant on-screen eye candy that made almost every scene visually appealing I found the film to be devoid of any sort of actual sentiment towards the characters. At least Euron Greyjoy was in this one though. It was nice to see him not be completely all powerful the way he is in Game of Thrones.

   I can't say I really enjoyed this movie beyond the special effects and that is unfortunate because although I never got on board the original source material it is my understanding that it is actually quite legendary among fans, particularly in Japan. The movie made a modest profit but nothing that really impressed the studios. I for one am surprised they green-lit so much money for the production in the first place.

   On a scale of "Urgh!" to "Wowsers!" I give Ghost in the Shell the overall score of....

   There are special movies, difficult to overcome or at least equal. The 1995 film, Ghost in the Shell, animated and created by Mamoru Oshii from the homonymous manga created by Masamune Shirow is one of these examples.

   For those who do not know Ghost in the shell in any of its variants: manga, animated films, video games, etc. I have to say that the adaptation directed by Rupert Sanders and Scarlett Johansson as a protagonist is a fall from his previous works, which may be admissible. But for those who know the work previously done, it is very likely that this film leaves them with a bad taste in the mouth.

   Johansson gets into the skin of the police cyborg known as The Major Motoko Kusanagi and complies with his action, in a very attractive film in general. It is important to distance oneself from and be aware that the animated cinematographic language and the real image, even though they are sometimes comparable, present different characteristics. The only way in which Ghost in the Shell is positively qualified, is if we imagine that there is no previous work on this same universe.

   The futuristic Japan that is shown is amazing, with excellent visual care. And on the other Juliette Binoche gets into the skin of a scientist with principles where the duality man / machine is beyond doubt and where for her humanity is beyond a simple fact of life.

   Lovers of films like The Matrix or Blade Runner can take a new adventurous journey through futuristic universes with robotic backgrounds and some good action sequences. Another thing is that the adoration they have for the original animated saga makes them see the film in a bad way. Comparing both films, there is not much to do because Mamoru Oshii's anime is unsurpassed.

   I guess it's impossible to ignore the original material but Ghost in the Shell should work by itself. For me, it does not work. I do not think it's a bad movie, it's visually appealing and it has powerful scenes, it's not long and the issues it touches are interesting, even if it's raised very superficially. It could be said that this adaptation reduces the density, the complexity of the original work, to make it more affordable, and thus make a more commercial product.

   In general, the high expectations to see Scarlett Johansson are covered and meet the mentioned above, although it is also nice to see the brief appearance of Michael Pitt in one of his most memorable works. It is moderately recommended, but it does not even come close to the original.
