Hace algunos días hice un post refiriéndome a lo que pensaba con respecto a "And just like that" que es el spin-off de "Sex and the city" pues ya estábamos a mitad de temporada y teníamos suficiente material para hablar, ya que la serie terminó en este post les cuento mis pensamientos finales. Comencemos:

Lo primero de lo que quiero hablar es de la historia de Miranda, se ha suscitado demasiada crítica en función de cómo se llevo a este personaje, se ha dicho que perdió su esencia, que se volvió un chiste y muchas otras cosas y en mi opinión creo que se logró plasmar perfectamente la situación que ella estaba atravesando y como podría actuar cualquier persona en la misma. Recordemos que ella dejo su trabajo en la firma de abogados para volver a la universidad y estudiar un máster en derechos humanos para volverse activista, también se está divorciando y está descubriendo una nueva parte de su sexualidad que hasta ahora no habría explorado, entonces Miranda está teniendo estos cambios drásticos en su vida y comenzando de cero en muchos aspectos, es lógico que no sepa cómo actuar o que actúe precipitadamente en algunas situaciones.

Otra cosa a la que quiero hacer alusión es que hay algunos personajes secundarios de los cuales tenemos mucho tiempo en pantalla y que en nada ayudan a la trama Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicol Ari Parker) la amiga de Charlotte y Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury), en mi opinión podríamos a ver tenido más participación de Steve y Harry e incluso Brady. En este orden de ideas también tenemos tiempo en pantalla de Shay (Sara Ramírez) que en principio ayuda al carácter development de Miranda pero que de cierta forma hace que la serie se aleje de la trama central que es la amistad de las chicas. Tampoco me gustó que en cierto punto los hicieran parecer ancianos con la sordera de Steve y la operación de cadera de Carrie.

Con Charlotte me gustó mucho lo que hicieron, podemos ver al personaje original lidiando con los desafíos de tener 50, siempre poniendo por delante el bienestar de sus hijas a pesar de que a veces le cueste un poco asimilar algunas cosas debido a sus valores conservadores, esto es bonito porque refleja lo que hoy día viven muchas madres en procesos de aceptación con sus hijos. Con Carrie también me gustó mucho lo que hicieron, a veces es un poco desesperante ver que pasa el tiempo y no supera la muerte de Mr. Big, pero así justamente son los duelos, no tienen hora ni fecha, incluso a veces algunos no los superas solo aprendes a vivir con ello. Fue de cierta forma cómico el hecho de que intentara empezar a salir y que le fuese tan difícil creo que eso también forma parte del proceso del duelo y nos da una muestra de lo mal que lo pasan las personas tratando de súperar perder el amor de su vida. La escena de las cenizas me encantó le da a ella su cierre y lo hacen de la manera más digna para ambos, en su puente y con su vestimenta muy a lo Carrie, porque no podría ser de otra manera.

En mi opinión, a pesar de que hubo algunas cosas que no me gustaron para nada como la muerte de Mr. Big y el excesivo tiempo en pantalla de algunos personajes, "And just like that" logró su cometido y nos dio una buena narrativa de que paso con la vida de las chicas, no siento que sea necesario continuar con la misma en una segunda temporada, sería intentar preservar una franquicia innecesariamente, pero ya veremos qué pasa. A few days ago I made a post referring to what I thought regarding "And just like that" which is the spin-off of Sex and the city post here as we were already half way through the season, since the series ended in this post I tell you my final thoughts. Let's start:

The first thing I want to talk about is Miranda's story, too much criticism has been raised based on how this character was taken, it has been said that she lost her essence, that she became a joke and many other things and in my opinion I think they managed to perfectly capture the situation she was going through and how anyone could act in the same. Let's remember that she left her job at the law firm to go back to college and study a masters in human rights to become an activist, she is also getting divorced and is discovering a new part of her sexuality that until now she would not have explored, so Miranda is having these drastic changes in her life and starting from scratch in many aspects, it is logical that she does not know how to act or that she acts rashly in some situations.

Another thing I want to allude to is that there are some secondary characters of which we have a lot of screen time and that in no way help the plot Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicol Ari Parker) Charlotte's friend and Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury), in my opinion we could have had more participation from Steve and Harry and even Brady. In this order of ideas we also have screen time for Shay (Sara Ramirez) which in principle helps Miranda's character develpment but in a way makes the series move away from the central plot which is the friendship of the girls. I also didn't like that at a certain point they made them seem old with Steve's deafness and Carrie's hip surgery.

With Charlotte I really liked what they did, we can see the original character dealing with the challenges of being 50, always putting the welfare of her daughters first even though sometimes it is hard for her to assimilate some things due to her conservative values, this is nice because it reflects what many mothers live today in the process of acceptance with their children. With Carrie I also liked very much what they did, sometimes it is a bit desperate to see that time passes and she does not get over Mr. Big's death, but that's just how grief is, it has no time or date, sometimes you don't even get over it, you just learn to live with it. It was somewhat comical the fact that he tried to start dating and that it was so difficult for him, I think that is also part of the grieving process and gives us a sample of how bad people have a hard time trying to get over losing the love of their life. The ashes scene I loved gives her closure and they do it in the most dignified way for both of them, on her bridge and in her very Carrie-esque outfit, because it couldn't be any other way.

In my opinion, even though there were some things I didn't like at all like the death of Mr. Big and the excessive screen time of some characters, "And just like that" achieved its purpose and gave us a good narrative of what happened with the girls' lives, I don't feel it's necessary to continue with it in a second season, it would be trying to preserve a franchise unnecessarily, but we'll see what happens.
