As a fan of Formula 1 I always try to consume the content that exists of it since it is quite is scarce, whether documentary or film adaptations of the life of the drivers, certain race or even the teams, motivated by the premiere of the fifth season yesterday, I want to make a small review of it, because there is much controversy raised around it.

When "Drive to survive" emerged in 2018 it was quite disruptive because there was no such format for motosport, there was not something beyond YouTube footage and sports broadcasts that will show us the day to day of the riders and this is the same reason why the same becomes so famous, especially in the United States where the sport was not so well known.

The controversy lies in the fact that people say that Netflix misrepresents actions on the track or dialogues in order to create drama, which some consider unnecessary. In fact, Max Verstappen decided not to participate in the 4th season because he felt he had been painted as a villain and that this did not do his image any good, having already seen the fifth season I can say that Netflix did take into account the criticism and did a neater job.

In my opinion, even though yes, yes there is quite a lot of drama to the point that sometimes it is a bit tedious (in seasons 1 to 4), all this is weighed against all the access Netflix has, which is basically unlimited. Well, in the documentary we can see how is the day to day and the reactions in the season not only of the drivers, but of their families, team leaders and even famous journalists of the medium, thanks to this we understand how the signings happen, how the teams work, we hear the things that are said on the radio without the censorship of television and how they feel about certain situations when they are interviewed. Also, the editing they do to show us the races seems very good to me, for the same reason, Netflix has access to things that live broadcasts do not show us and they know how to play with it.

In conclusion, although you have to be careful and be a little informed about what is shown to us, Drive to survive is a very good window to learn about what is the formula 1 and how the sport works. I recommend watching it I give it 3.5/5

Como aficionado a la Fórmula 1 siempre intento consumir el contenido que existe de ella ya que es bastante es escaso, ya sean documentales o adaptaciones cinematográficas de la vida de los pilotos, de determinada carrera o incluso de los equipos, motivado por el estreno de la quinta temporada ayer, quiero hacer un pequeño repaso de la misma, ya que hay mucha polémica levantada a su alrededor.

Cuando surgió "Drive to survive" en 2018 fue bastante disruptivo porque no existía un formato así para el deporte del motor, no había algo más allá de imágenes de YouTube y retransmisiones deportivas que nos mostrarán el día a día de los pilotos y esta es la misma razón por la que el mismo se hace tan famoso, sobre todo en Estados Unidos donde este deporte no era tan conocido.

La polémica radica en que la gente dice que Netflix tergiversa acciones en la pista o diálogos para crear dramatismo, que algunos consideran innecesario. De hecho, Max Verstappen decidió no participar en la cuarta temporada porque sentía que lo habían pintado como un villano y que eso no le hacía bien a su imagen, habiendo visto ya la quinta temporada puedo decir que Netflix sí tomó en cuenta las críticas e hizo un trabajo más pulcro.

En mi opinión, aunque sí, sí hay bastante drama hasta el punto de que a veces es un poco tedioso (en las temporadas 1 a 4), todo esto se sopesa con todo el acceso que tiene Netflix, que es básicamente ilimitado. Pues bien, en el documental podemos ver como es el día a día y las reacciones en la temporada no solo de los pilotos, sino de sus familias, jefes de equipo e incluso periodistas famosos del medio, gracias a esto entendemos como se dan los fichajes, como trabajan los equipos, escuchamos las cosas que se dicen en la radio sin la censura de la televisión y como se sienten ante ciertas situaciones cuando son entrevistados. Además, el montaje que hacen para mostrarnos las carreras me parece muy bueno, por lo mismo, Netflix tiene acceso a cosas que las transmisiones en vivo no nos muestran y saben jugar con ello.

En conclusión, aunque hay que tener cuidado e informarse un poco sobre lo que nos muestran, Drive to survive es una muy buena ventana para aprender sobre lo que es la fórmula 1 y como funciona el deporte. Recomiendo verlo le doy 3.5/5
