  1. F1: Drive to survive... Is it worth it? [ENG/ESP]@andr3apat1no1219d

    ENGLISH

As a fan of Formula 1 I always try to consume the content that exists of it since it is quite is scarce, whether documentary or film adaptations of the life of the drivers, certain race or even the teams, motivated by the premiere of the fifth season yesterday, I want to make a small review of it, because there is much controversy raised around it.

When "Drive to survive" emerged in 2018 it was quite disruptive because there was no such format for motosport, there was not something beyond YouTube footage and sports broadcasts that will show us the day to day of the riders and this is the same reason why the same becomes so famous, especially in the United States where the sport was not so well known.

The controversy lies in the fact that people say that Netflix misrepresents actions on the track or dialogues in order to create drama, which some consider unnecessary. In fact, Max Verstappen decided not to participate in the 4th season because he felt he had been painted as a villain and that this did not do his image any good, having already seen the fifth season I can say that Netflix did take into account the criticism and did a neater job.

In my opinion, even though yes, yes there is quite a lot of drama to the point that sometimes it is a bit tedious (in seasons 1 to 4), all this is weighed against all the access Netflix has, which is basically unlimited. Well, in the documentary we can see how is the day to day and the reactions in the season not only of the drivers, but of their families, team leaders and even famous journalists of the medium, thanks to this we understand how the signings happen, how the teams work, we hear the things that are said on the radio without the censorship of television and how they feel about certain situations when they are interviewed. Also, the editing they do to show us the races seems very good to me, for the same reason, Netflix has access to things that live broadcasts do not show us and they know how to play with it.

In conclusion, although you have to be careful and be a little informed about what is shown to us, Drive to survive is a very good window to learn about what is the formula 1 and how the sport works. I recommend watching it I give it 3.5/5

  2. Anteprima - Rombano i motori della formula 1 su Netflix@serialfiller1470d

    https://www.serialfiller.org/post/

Pronti a partire?

This is the future link to the post that I am inviting you to read in the coming days at www.serialfiller.org and which is previewed here

As usual today I am bringing you inside a new Preview of an article that in a few days or weeks you will see In the Mind of a SerialFiller, my blog entirely focused on the world of TV series and of which, for the past few months, I have decided to constantly give you, in advance of what I will publish, most of the posts you will see on www.serialfiller.org.

    Formula 1 fans?

Have you always been curious to find out what was behind the great F1 circus?

    Do you like the "reds"?

Drive to survive is a docuseries that has been taking us on Netflix for a few years now to discover the most recent seasons experienced on formula 1 tracks around the world. The Netflix series is a sly and wonderful behind-the-scenes look at the recently concluded Formula 1 championship (year after year), showing us what lies behind the successes, and failures, of the various teams that make up the world's most famous circus. Few satisfactions for Ferrari in recent years (hoping this is the year), but that does not detract from the power of seeing the strategies of engineers and visionaries behind the roar of engines that has been driving fans crazy for decades come to fruition, and sometimes fail.

One thing I must confess right away. In the days of the legendary Schumy, I loved formula 1. The satisfaction of seeing Ferrari triumph year after year, after so much suffering, was so much. Once the Schumacher era was over, and we arrived at a very un "human" and very electronic era for Formula 1, I gradually became disenchanted with the sport, to the point of almost abandoning it. I had gotten to the point where I would just check out who had won the current Grand Prix and scroll to the next news item. Then came Drive To Survive and, episode after episode, I began to breathe Formula 1 and live Formula 1 again. The miracle had happened. The main reason for this revival was dictated by the newfound interest in those roaring engines that the Netflix series managed to resurface. The how is perhaps the most interesting element in that the series does not just show us how things went but how those results were built and imagined, without focusing too much and only on the winners but giving ample space to the disappointments and "losers" as well. This aspect helped to broaden the knowledge of all the stables, all the drivers and all the events related to the perspectives and backgrounds of the characters that make up the circus.

Knowing the history of Haas, the tail end of the last championships, may be, after watching this series, no less interesting than knowing that of Mercedes. Experiencing the desire for redemption and rebirth of the glorious McLaren will be able to bring in not a few new elements with respect to how a stable that ended up in the rear managed, slowly, to get back into the top 5 and then the top 3. Delving into the frustration of Ferrari's engineers will be as satisfying as seeing the smiling faces of the drivers on their first podium. Meeting all the drivers of the circus up close, finding out what aspirations they have, what feelings they experience before the start, what sacrifices they make (topped by tens of millions of dollars), experiencing the new tracks, reliving terrifying accidents. Drive to Survive allowed me to discover these small aspects that I had previously ignored, or perhaps forgotten. If you love sports stories and are armed with a lot of curiosity, this docuseries might surprise you. There are plenty of better series and docuseries in the world, but Drive to Survive is made especially for those who love formula 1 and for those who, like me, loved it in the early days, only to have that interest wither over time.
