Come di consueto oggi vi porto dentro una nuova Anteprima di un articolo che fra qualche giorno o settimana vedrete Nella Mente di un SerialFiller, il mio blog interamente incentrato sul mondo delle serie tv e di cui, da qualche mese, ho deciso di regalarvi costantemente, in anticipo su quello che pubblicherò, gran parte dei post che vedrete su www.serialfiller.org.

Siete sempre stati curiosi di scoprire cosa si celasse dietro il grande circo della F1?
Vi piacciono le "rosse"?
Drive to survive è una docuserie che oramai da qualche anno ci accompagna su Netflix alla scoperta delle stagioni più recenti vissute sulle piste di formula 1 di tutto il mondo. La serie Netflix è un furbo e meraviglioso dietro le quinte del campionato di Formula 1 appena concluso (anno dopo anno), che ci mostra cosa si celi dietro i successi, e gli insuccessi, delle varie scuderie che compongono il circus più famoso al mondo. Poche soddisfazioni per la Ferrari negli ultimi anni (sperando che questo sia l'anno giusto) ma ciò non toglie la potenza nel vedere compiersi, ed a volte fallire, le strategie di ingegneri e visionari dietro il rombo di motori che da decenni fa impazzire gli appassionati.
Una cosa devo confessarla subito. Ai tempi del mitico Schumy adoravo la formula 1. La soddisfazione di vedere la Ferrari trionfare anno dopo anno, dopo tante sofferenze, era tantissima. Finita l'era di Schumacher, ed arrivati ad un'epoca molto poco "umana" e tanto elettronica per la Formula 1, mi sono progressivamente disinnamorato di questo sport, fino a quasi abbandonarlo. Ero arrivato al punto di limitarmi a verificare chi avesse vinto il Gran Premio di turno e scorrere verso la prossima news. Poi è arrivata Drive To Survive ed, episodio dopo episodio, ho ricominciato a respirare Formula 1 e vivere di Formula 1. Il miracolo era avvenuto. Il motivo principale di questo ritorno di fiamma è stato dettato dal ritrovato interesse verso quei motori ruggenti che la serie di Netflix è riuscita a far riaffiorare. Il come è forse l'elemento più interessante in quanto la serie non si limita a mostrarci come sono andate le cose ma come siano stati costruiti ed immaginati quei risultati, senza focalizzarsi troppo e solo sui vincenti ma dando largo spazio anche ai delusi ed i "losers". Questo aspetto ha contribuito ad ampliare la conoscenza di tutte le scuderie, di tutti i piloti e di tutte le vicende legate alle prospettive ed i retroscena dei personaggi che compongono il circus.
Conoscere la storia della Haas, fanalino di coda degli ultimi campionati, potrà risultare, dopo la visione di questa serie, non meno interessante che conoscere quella della Mercedes. Vivere la voglia di riscatto e rinascita della gloriosa McLaren potrà portare in dote non pochi elementi di novità rispetto a come una scuderia finita nelle retrovie sia riuscita, pian piano a rientrare in top 5 e poi in top 3. Addentrarsi nella frustrazione dei tecnici Ferrari potrà appagare tanto quanto vedere le facce sorridenti dei piloti al loro primo podio. Incontrare da vicino tutti i piloti del circus, scoprire che aspirazioni abbiano, che sensazioni vivano prima della partenza, che sacrifici facciano (conditi da decine di milioni di dollari), sperimentare le nuove piste, rivivere incidenti terrificanti. Drive to Survive ha permesso di scoprire questi piccoli aspetti che prima ignoravo, o che forse avevo dimenticato. Se amate le storie di sport e siete armati di tanta curiosità, questa docuserie potrebbe sorprendervi. Di serie e docuserie migliori ne è pieno il mondo ma Drive to Survive è fatta apposta per chi ama la formula 1 e per chi, come me, la amava in tempi non sospetti, salvo poi far appassire quell'interesse nel corso del tempo. Pronti a partire?

Drive to survive is a docuseries that has been taking us on Netflix for a few years now to discover the most recent seasons experienced on formula 1 tracks around the world. The Netflix series is a sly and wonderful behind-the-scenes look at the recently concluded Formula 1 championship (year after year), showing us what lies behind the successes, and failures, of the various teams that make up the world's most famous circus. Few satisfactions for Ferrari in recent years (hoping this is the year), but that does not detract from the power of seeing the strategies of engineers and visionaries behind the roar of engines that has been driving fans crazy for decades come to fruition, and sometimes fail.

The main reason for this revival was dictated by the newfound interest in those roaring engines that the Netflix series managed to resurface. The how is perhaps the most interesting element in that the series does not just show us how things went but how those results were built and imagined, without focusing too much and only on the winners but giving ample space to the disappointments and "losers" as well. This aspect helped to broaden the knowledge of all the stables, all the drivers and all the events related to the perspectives and backgrounds of the characters that make up the circus.
Knowing the history of Haas, the tail end of the last championships, may be, after watching this series, no less interesting than knowing that of Mercedes. Experiencing the desire for redemption and rebirth of the glorious McLaren will be able to bring in not a few new elements with respect to how a stable that ended up in the rear managed, slowly, to get back into the top 5 and then the top 3. Delving into the frustration of Ferrari's engineers will be as satisfying as seeing the smiling faces of the drivers on their first podium. Meeting all the drivers of the circus up close, finding out what aspirations they have, what feelings they experience before the start, what sacrifices they make (topped by tens of millions of dollars), experiencing the new tracks, reliving terrifying accidents. Drive to Survive allowed me to discover these small aspects that I had previously ignored, or perhaps forgotten. If you love sports stories and are armed with a lot of curiosity, this docuseries might surprise you. There are plenty of better series and docuseries in the world, but Drive to Survive is made especially for those who love formula 1 and for those who, like me, loved it in the early days, only to have that interest wither over time.
