To be completely honest I only decided to see this movie because of Taylor Swift's song for the soundtrack, I had no idea about the cast or what it was about, but I was pleasantly surprised: I really liked the movie. In this post I will give you a little review.

Let's start with the plot: the movie is about the trial of Kya Clark who is charged with the murder of a young man who was her boyfriend. But this does not stop there, through the film we know the life of the girl who has been extremely difficult because her father was abusive, which led to be left alone because her mother and brothers were gradually leaving home, at a certain point Kya who was a girl is left alone and must learn to survive with the things she has in the swamp surrounding her house. This situation is decisive for all the relationships she will forge throughout her life.

The film stars Daisy Edgar Jones, whom we know from "Normal People", who plays an incredible role. To see how she changes, how Kya "adapts" as she is introduced into society is incredible, Daisy makes it all very organic. The cast also includes Taylor Smith Johnson, Harris Dickinson and David Strathairn who plays Tom Milton who is Kya's lawyer, and who also gives us an excellent update, trying to prove the girl's innocence.

I think one of the things that contributes the most to the narration of the story is the photography, which is set in North Carolina: the swamps, the beaches, the pipes that lead to Kya's house, everything is very well calculated to support the story, the fauna of the place also has an important role in the film. The film has a very good pace, there is always something going on, so you don't get bored and I don't feel that there are unnecessary subplots that make watching the film tedious.

I'm still surprised by how much I liked the movie, I recommend watching it. I give it a 4/5

Para ser completamente honesta solo decidí ver esta pelicula por la canción que Taylor Swift para su banda sonora, no tenía idea del elenco ni de sobre que trataba, pero me lleve una muy grata sorpresa: la película me gustó mucho. En este post les haré una pequeña reseña.

Empecemos por el plot: la película trata sobre el juicio de Kya Clark a quien le imputan el asesinato de un joven quien fue su novio. Pero esto no se queda ahí, a través de la película conocemos la vida de la chica que ha sido en extremo difícil ya que su padre era abusivo, lo que llevo a que se quedará sola pues su madre y sus hermanos poco a poco se fueron marchando se su hogar, en cierto punto Kya que era una niña se queda sola y debe aprender a subsistir con las cosas que tiene en el pantano que rodea su casa. Esta situación es determinante para todas las relaciones que forjara a lo largo de su vida.

La película está protagonizada por Daisy Edgar Jones a quien conocemos por "Normal People", que hace un papel increíble. Ver cómo va cambiando, como se va "adaptando" Kya a medida que se introduce en la sociedad es increíble, Daisy hace que todo sea muy organico. El elenco también cuenta con Taylor Smith Johnson, Harris Dickinson y David Strathairn quién representa a Tom Milton que es el abogado de Kya, y quien también nos entrega una actualización excelente, tratando de probar la inocencia de la chica.

Creo que una de las cosas que más contribuye a la narración de la historia es la fotografía, que es ambientada en North Carolina: Los pantanos, las playas, los caños que llevan a la casa de Kya, todo está muy bien calculado para que apoye la historia, la fauna del lugar también tiene un papel importante en la película. El film cuenta con muy buen ritmo, siempre está pasando algo, por lo que no te aburres y tampoco siento que haya subtramas innecesarias que hagan que ver la película sea tedioso.

Sigo sorprendida por lo mucho que me gustó la película, recomiendo verla. Le doy un 4/5
