This is a film framed within what is a psychological and erotic thriller based on the novel of the same name by Patricia Highsmith, with a screenplay by Zach Helm and Sam Levinson and directed by Adrian Lyne who was nominated for an Oscar as best director in 1988 for the film Fatal Attraction starring Glenn Close, Michael Douglas and Anne Archer.
The plot revolves around a dysfunctional marriage who to avoid the mess of divorce he allows her to have any number of lovers as long as she does not abandon her family.

This brings fatal consequences to the people around them and accentuates his psychopathic condition, who will gradually give free rein to his darkest desires until reaching an unsuspected end.
Ben Affleck, with an extensive career as an actor, director, producer and screenwriter, who won an Oscar in 1997 for Best Original Screenplay for the film Good Will Hunting, plays Vic Van Allen, Melinda's husband, played by Ana de Armas.

They are joined by a fine cast which includes: Tracy Letts, Pulitzer Prize winner for his play August: Osage County as Lionel, Rachel Blanchard as Maggie, Lil Rel Howery as Miles, Finn Wittrock as Tony, Jacob Elordi as Ricky, Kristen Connolly as Kelly, Dash Mihok as Tom, Jade Fernandez as Jennifer, Michael Braun as Jeff Peterson and Michael Scialabba as Kevin Washington.
The film was released on March 18, 2022, after several delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, earning good reviews from moviegoers and mixed reviews from academics who considered it somewhat superficial.
