Kimi is a thriller directed by Steven Soderbergh, known for having won the Oscar Award for Best Director in 2000 for the film Traffic, a crime drama film that tells several stories of the world of drugs and drug trafficking between Mexico and the United States.

The screenplay is by David Koepp, known for having played the same role in successful films such as Jurassic Park (1993), Carlito's Way (1993), Mission: Impossible (1996), Spider-Man (2002), War of the Worlds (2005) and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008), among others.

The plot revolves around Angela Childs, an employee of a technology company called Amygdala who suffers from agoraphobia and who, while monitoring the incoming data streams from Kimi devices and making corrections to the software, discovers a crime and tries to alert her superiors.

Kimi is a smart speakerphone that uses human monitoring to improve the search algorithm and is in a testing state and has not been released to the public.

The events take place in Seattle during the Covid 19 pandemic and she, who also suffers from anxiety as a result of a previous assault, must face her worst fear, leaving the city and going to the company to take the tests, but she meets with bureaucratic resistance and a scenario she never imagined.

Zoë Kravitz plays the lead role, she rose to fame playing Christina in The Divergent Series and won the 2015 Milan International Film Festival Award for Best Supporting Actress for the film The Road Within, in addition to other awards and nominations for her performances,

It was released in February 2002 by the HBO Max platform obtaining good reviews and highlighting the minimalist style of the same with simple approach and scenes that exacerbate the suspense and unexpected twists.

Its production budget was only 3 and a half million dollars.

Personally, I found that it meets the requirements of the genre and that it has a solid plot that traps the viewer.
