Today I share with you another movie recommendation, which seems to me not far from reality in some respects, even though the reasons are different.
Kimi is a technology very similar to Amazon's Alexa, Apple's Siri and so on... It executes what you tell it with your voice. The film bears its name and it is because due to this technology it is possible to discover something that happened.
The protagonist of this film is Angela Child, an employee of this technology company. But Angela has a peculiarity and that is that she never leaves her house, she avoids it as much as she can because she suffers from agoraphobia.
Angela's life seems like a comfortable confinement and all her interactions with the outside world are virtual, it should also be noted that this film simulates that environment during the covid but even so this was not exactly the reason why Angela did not leave the house.
Angela's job is to check for errors in Kimi's voice commands. Angela usually hears brief sections of people's voices, the moment together where the person tells Kimi the command to be executed, if there is any communication failure Angela solves it by adjusting some codes so that Kimi has a most perfect and complete answer.
One day Angela listens to something that seemed strange to her and she decides to listen carefully and it seemed to be a crime what she was hearing from the scant fragment of the recording. She decides to report it to someone who takes special care within the company but for this they ask her to visit the office... Oh no, that requires Angela to leave her home.
Really, the situation for Angela seems to be very serious that she even decides to take courage and cling to any wall that allows her to leave her house, but for her this will only be the beginning of the conflict.
This reminded me of that time where there were comments all over the internet about Alexa and that they recorded all of us and could listen to us. I imagine that many when they see or when they see these scenes will move to that moment, which generates a lot of collective hysteria. Although in the film this particular fact is used for justice by its moderator.

Even this movie which is objectively bad compared to Candyman has a higher score on IMDb.... those scores long ago stopped being a real benchmark for the quality of movies and series, and this is one more example of that; anyway, this wasn't the way I intended or wanted to start this review, but that's the way things are and I couldn't mention it. I wanted to see Kimi just because of Zoë Kravitz, plus. since I wasn't so aware of its plot, I didn't have so many expectations when I saw it, I just knew I was going to like it and I did, I'll tell you why later.
There is a big problem with this movie and that problem is the trailer, the worst trailer they could have made for this movie. In the trailer, we see a movie practically about cyberterrorism where through Kimi, a Siri or Alexa type AI, listens to everything people do when they interact with the device, and thanks to that they discover a possible murder, so Angela, our beloved Zoë, will do everything she can to make the truth come out, even if it puts her life at risk. That completely sums up the trailer, and the second part of the movie, because the first part, which was the one I enjoyed the most, is entirely about Angela, and the fact that they hid that just annoys me, plus it's a cheat for those who might get interested in watching the movie.

I perfectly understand that they wanted to see the film as a sample of what is happening today with all the devices that practically serve as a door to our privacy, and for that reason, it was called Kimi, the name of the AI that was becoming increasingly popular, so it was the perfect example, plus it served for the name, but no, Kimi is the least essential thing in the movie, and it makes me laugh, because it is, but at the same time no, I hope you understand, because Kimi's relevance is very pointed, specific, and in the grand scheme of things, Kimi is insignificant in the movie, and all of that serves as an excuse for me to say that the film should be called Angela and not Kimi.
Why should it be called Angela? Because everything revolves around her, end of the review. I loved the construction of Angela's character, it's my favorite thing about the movie, her, nothing else, the rest can go on sabbatical and I wouldn't mind. Angela is a woman who doesn't leave the house, not just because of the covid, which surprised me that they included it in such a relaxed way in the film, but because she was a victim in a situation that they will never get to explain to us, and such is the trauma she has, that her anxiety makes it impossible for her to leave the house, plus all the routine she has to do things. Watching Angela exist within four walls for almost the entire first half of the film was something that relaxed me to unsuspected levels, I loved it.

I repeat it now in a different way, during almost the entire first half of the movie we will only see Angela existing in her apartment, eating, sleeping, working, making phone calls, and even having sex, which made me laugh a lot, but I'm not the one to criticize what others do. This first half is going to be slow, very slow, common, simple, and I could say boring, but there are elements out of Angela's routine that is going to be awakening our interest little by little, so I won't say it's boring. All this can be the summary of the first half of the movie, something that never comes out in the trailer, and that's why half the world can hate the movie when in the trailer they sell you one thing, and the reality is something very different.
Something to keep in mind when watching the film is that it is impossible to like it, to be interested in it, to finish watching it, if we do not empathize with Angela, if we do not like her, we simply waste our time watching the film, because she is practically the reason for the existence of the film, and if we do not manage to ingratiate ourselves with her, it will be useless to watch it, it is that simple, the film is slow, the first half is common, and the second half is not that much better, but it can become a little more attractive, it still has its flaws, but I will not talk about those.

I didn't like the ending, I could destroy it with all the inconsistencies and nonsense they did, but no, although if we take into account the general context of the film and Angela, it is understandable that it ended like that, but I still didn't like it, Angela deserves something better, much better. Something that I liked is how they tried and managed to show the pressure that Angela felt when leaving the apartment, which is no longer a secret that she gets to leave, the abrupt camera movements, and the forced angles from where we will see her as out of place and uncomfortable, all that gave it extra points, they did it well, very well.
Don't watch the trailer, watch the movie directly, the trailer will give you an idea of the movie when the movie has a completely different development, so it's going to create an almost instant aversion the moment you start watching the movie; or don't watch the movie and that's it because it's a perfect generic movie to watch and not pay attention to you. you know, have it in the background while playing or talking to someone, that's the kind of movie Kimi is, and nothing is going to change it. I liked it, it relaxed me too much, I did enjoy it a lot, that's why I know that more than half the world considers it a bad movie.

Siempre me he preguntado… ¿realmente tenemos privacidad?

I've always wondered ... do we really have privacy? In a technological world where applications that use our personal data are more frequent, how do we know if we are spied for hidden? That question is really difficult to answer, although the indications suggest that, as my grandmother would say, today the walls have more ears than ever. Obviously they are only my ideas, not paranoid, but have had their origin in a film. His name: Kimi, a story where the suspense comes to life from the hand of a girl with mental disorders.
Surely you have heard of Siri or even Google's personal assistant. For those who are not familiar with these terms, both applications function as tools that help us in many of our digital tasks, both to create playlist of our favorite singers and to organize our own agenda. For this we must only activate these tools with our voice, and the future is at the palm of our hand! Kimi is the fictitious version of these assistants, and the trigger for a murder that arrives, through electronic commands, to the computer of Angela Childs ...
She is the girl who will have to overcome her fear to leave home to highlight both the murder and the company that tries to keep everything secret. This corporation, called Amonala, has been the precursor of the Kimi application in North America, however, the dark secret behind the violated privacy of its clients. It is curious that this rape of the parameters has been able to reveal a woman's dead ... how? Let's talk more about the context of history.
Angela Childs works as a Kimi moderator and her task consists in attending the audios of users who have not been validated by the assistant. That is, she is responsible for generating new functionalities to the Kimi tool through the errors in the application database. That means that Angela must trace the algorithm, go to the source and, in a nutshell, listen to what she should not hear. There is a background problem: she suffers from agoraphobia, a condition that forces her to remain in her house for fear of non -existent dangers.
One night, while she makes her ordinary work routine, she listens to what seems to be a bloody murder recorded by the victim from Kimi application. From here Angela must face her own fears to highlight the crime, at the expense of an organization that wishes to see her dead before the truth behind Kimi comes to light ... Will she achieve it? This is the transcendental matter of the feature film.
Kimi is a closed movie, that is, the details only focus on the vision of its protagonist, without concentrating on secondary frames or third -party characters. Angela does not depart from the camera from the beginning to the end, because everything revolves around her fears and her insecurities. Much of this movie reminded me of the classic thriller, where the eyes turn only to a handful of stages. It is a short film, with just an hour and twenty minutes of extension, something that is usually striking as long as the suspense is maintained ...
Kimi keeps the suspense?
I wondered the same as I watched the movie. It turns out that the feature films that are usually short must be handled intelligently, because otherwise the facts that pass can fall into the spectator's disagreement. This according to my humble criteria, of course, and in this sense Kimi can imitate the reflection of its own protagonist. It is a work that does not maintain the same rhythm, and that can be even slow and something clumsy. The reason? Perhaps that there is not so much depth in the argument, and we see characters that appear and disappear from the shots only to contribute to the advance of the story. I did not like this in particular.
That is, speaking from the writer's perspective, a story hooks by the depth of his characters and the implosion of the scenarios, that we call "action", not gender, but what is defined (according to me, xD) like that that makes a story advance. Kimi in this aspect is a very linear, very simple work. Of course, this defect will depend on who can analyze the film from the technical vision. The rescueable thing about history is its murky atmosphere, synthesized in a woman upset by a painful past. Unprecedented trauma ...
And what better than actress Zoe Kravistz to personify it?
Here if I have no doubt about Zoe's quality to make us eat the story. If I must say something, it is the most rescued of the whole movie. This actress is very good for her traumatic roles, perhaps because she knows how to personify them with amazing complexity. She had already seen her work in other stories such as Big Little Lies and fantastic animals. In Kimi we see her as a classic modern woman, with colored hair and a remarkably anti-dotellist clothing. I am fascinated by her role as a strong woman! This characteristic was what attracted me the most of the film.
As I said before, Kimi is a feature film that contains his argument in a cluster of little recurring characters, including the one that stars Mexican actor Jaime Camil, another that surprised me not for his performance, but for the role he played in the film. That is, Camil is a very representative comedian, even I remember his work in the Mexican remake of Betty La Fea. For me it was impossible to swallow the story of a Jaime Camil with a dark and frivolous character, even his gestures caused me some laugh. Maybe it's my things, after all the same happens to Eugenio Derbez, Lol.
In general aspects, Kimi is a film that manages to be entertaining to some extent. It is not a ten -star feature film, but at least strives to maintain an attractive plot along the scenes. There is also the matter that implies technology and our personal lives ... and all the mess with respect to the privacy behind. I can only tell you that I no longer see the Google assistant with the same eyes, Lol.
Beyond the entire background problem, the feature film has a lot of the essence of suspense. I think the most highlight is the way we can adhere to Angela's character, and even pity it. I only have to say that sometimes it is good that the walls listen, because only like that, in case of a dangerous unforeseen, we will have the testimony of someone who, like us, wants to do justice.

Official Trailer
Agoraphobia is a fear of being in situations where escape might be difficult or that help wouldn't be available if things go wrong. source
[source](https://www.themoviedb.org/t/p/w500_and_h282_face/wFLYxP5wbWNoiHbJacZC2uNnBz4.jpg)A person who has been raped and is judged by others and society develops a fear of going out. He/she feels safe only at home and does not leave home for whatever reason.
Managing your work from home, having your toothache examined on the screen; treatment at home, shopping online and bringing it home, and similar side effects. The main purpose in all this; not to go out of the house!
Developing technology does not hesitate to take over our homes and lives. Although all endeavours are marketed as making life easier for mankind, everything is for more money and the power that money will provide.
[source](https://www.themoviedb.org/t/p/w500_and_h282_face/e5yBUFUTNcHFijOpZ2WNfiYkxTQ.jpg)It would be inevitable for someone who is constantly locked up at home to create a fake life on the internet, given the fear he/she is experiencing. Being anonymous and remaining anonymous in the virtual world is a way that most people prefer and it is acceptable. However, there is a difference between being anonymous and creating a fake profile. It requires a separate skill to maintain the life of a person who does not exist at all. The people deceived, the lies told and the lives affected in the process cannot be explained only by the security problem.
A single room, vertical and horizontal screens connected to the internet, a fridge just behind it, a bed in the corner of the room is the ideal lifestyle for staying at home. When the work needed to sustain life is met by working from home, everything is fine for the character Angela Childs, played by Zoë Kravitz.
[source](https://www.themoviedb.org/t/p/w500_and_h282_face/oZPIxWRtyRUOWjkStp2VTylbHhK.jpg)A technology company called Amygdala develops a product called Kimi and the targeted figures are to earn millions of dollars. Kimi is a home assistant and does everything as instructed. At the same time, it records everything in the house if desired. Angela is an employee of the company Amygdala and her job is to repair reported error codes in the Kimi product. One day, her whole life changes with a recording sent by Kimi.
The film Kimi, in which I think Zoë Kravitz showed a very good acting performance, was released in 2022 and directed by Steven Soderbergh. The screenwriter of the film is David Koepp.
[source](https://www.themoviedb.org/t/p/w500_and_h282_face/eoL5LwAQuaw3RS5ADABA0CJvyNE.jpg)Whether we want it or not, we are progressing rapidly in the age of technology. Every product that facilitates our work has always had and will continue to have negative sides. The technology we have today offers enough opportunities to continue our lives without leaving home. Paying bills, buying online products, selling products on the internet and working online are some of them and their usage numbers are increasing day by day.
While it is possible to see similar scenes in the film titled Kimi, it is also possible to get caught up in the charm of easy life. The film, which deals with a simple subject, is very successful in reflecting the tension, and I must repeat that Zoë Kravitz has a big share in this.
Finally, I had read a few articles that the COVID process we experienced was effective in the development of agoraphobia. It was explained that the difficulties experienced by people who were confined to their homes for a while and then had difficulties in going out were both mentally and physically challenging. I cannot speculate about mental difficulty, but I have witnessed people over a certain age who had physical difficulties. When they lived a life with limited movements at home for months, they had difficulty walking outside and it took time to overcome.

An agoraphobic Seattle tech worker uncovers evidence of a potentially violent crime thanks to AI software Kimi.

Kimi is pretty much the same as Amazon's Alexa. This intelligent and useful AI is able to assist with many tasks. Too lazy to turn on your own music? Kimi can do that and so much more for you.
One reason that Kimi continually gets better is that there are thousands of employees who have the job of analyzing data and fixing issues. This is what Angela Childs (Zoë Kravitz) does for a living from the comfort of her home. She has a long list of voice recordings each day that she must listen to and correct mistakes that Kimi makes.
Angela enjoys working from home since her agoraphobia (fear of going places) is now even worse since COVID started. Yes, this movie manages to take the most annoying thing about our reality and forces it into a movie. Luckily this provides some comedic relief since I often get a few laughs at people who are over-dramatic about protecting their health.
Angela hears a possible violent crime on one of her tasked recordings and she cannot help but become obsessed with solving the mystery after she has listened to the recording. This might just be what gets her to finally leave her nice apartment and venture out into the world again.
Angela discovers that the company she works for has way more user data than they let off, no surprise there. This allows her to figure out exactly what has happened and this shows her that Kimi is very far from perfect.
I can't say that this is the most action-packed, funny, or interesting film ever. I did somehow manage to still enjoy it a decent bit though. Angela has so many odd habits and it is quite comical to witness all of them happening. It is also very intriguing to see just how invasive some of this new teach like Kimi/Alexa actually is. Do you feel comfortable having every single conversation that you have possibly been listened to? The sad truth is, if you use any bit of technology, then it is likely to have happened at least once already.
It's quite clear that movies like this are trying their hardest to condition the minds of our population to become normalized with things like wearing a mask and being afraid to leave our own homes. This part of the movie annoys me in the worst way. There is still some good to be had with Kimi though. Check out the trailer below and leave a comment if you have already taken the time to watch this one.
