Kimi es una película de suspenso, crimen y drama, dirigida por Steven Soderbergh y escrita y producida por David Koepp. Esta protagonizada por Zoë Kravitz, fue lanzada en la plataforma de HBO MAX en febrero de 2022, con criticas favorables. La historia sigue a Angela una chica agorafobica que trabaja desde casa para una empresa de tecnología. Un día, en uno de sus análisis descubre un crimen y ahora tendrá que enfrentar su miedo para hacer justicia.
Contexto
Un sujeto llamado Bradley Hasling, CEO de una empresa de tecnología en ascenso, da una entrevista por el nuevo producto a la venta, Kimi, un asistente personal, lo que seria un altavoz inteligente, cuyo algoritmo usa personas reales, empleados de Amygdala, para mejorare constantemente, todo bajo el anonimato del cliente claro, y pronto harán una oferta publica, lo que significa mucho dinero en juego. Después de terminar va a ver a su esposa, y le informa el nuevo costo de las acciones, poco antes de ir a ver a su hijo , recibe un llamada, un sujeto cobrando una deuda.
Una chica despierta en la mañana y toma su café mientras observa la ventana, sus vecinos hacen sus vidas ante sus ojos, al fijarse de la hora sigue con el resto de su rutina diaria acompañada de Kimi, su altavoz inteligente, hasta que nuevamente regresa a la ventana, alli ve a Terry, su novio y vecino, este se prepara para el trabajo, así que Angela le propone encontrarse en el carro de comidas frente al edificio, esto sorprende a Terry, que acepta. La chica hace todas sus cosas para salir. Sin embargo antes de abrir la puerta se arrepiente, no puede salir de su apartamento, tiene un ataque de pánico con la idea, al reponerse ve que Terry ya no la espera, así que continua con su trabajo. Ella es empleada de Amygdala y se encarga de monitorear flujo de datos en los dispositivos Kimi, además de corregir los errores que encuentre, esta trabaja en su casa debido a su ansiedad socia y su agorafobia, producto a un ataque y que empeoro con la pandemia.
El apartamento sobre el suyo esta en remodelación, por lo que se queja con el contratista por el ruido, luego se toma un descanso para hablar con su mama por video llamada, quería comentarle su intento de salir, aunque esta no ve la acción de su hija como un avance real. Angela desmotivada sigue adelante además se ve que un vecino a espía. Ya de noche habla con Darius, un sujeto con habilidades informáticas, que no conoce en persona pero le ayuda en ocasiones, luego le manda un mensaje a Terry para que pase por su hogar, ambos tiene sexo. Sin embargo cuando Terry presionan a Angela con el tema de salir, terminan discutiendo asi que ella lo corre del lugar, ya cansada procura terminar con su trabajo hasta que llega a una grabación ruidosa, donde la música que no le permite escuchar lo que pasa, aunque reconoce unos gritos de dolor, por lo que usa todo sus recursos para aislar las voces y descubre que se trata de una agresión a una mujer. Alarmada le manda un correo a su jefe para tomar medidas en el asunto.
Después de negarse a salir al dentista por el dolor de muelas, su medico le receta algo para eso, aunque no resuelva su problema. Su jefe la llama para hablar sobre el correo, este niega que haya forma de hacer algo pero la remite con Natalie Chowdhury, una ejecutiva de Amygdala que se encarga de esos casos, además le insiste en no dejar correos o mensaje que puedan vincularla a algo, ya que podría traerle problemas. Angela llama constantemente al equipo para hablar con la jefa, hasta que aceden a una reunión en la oficina, ella al saberlo se niega.
Angela busca a Darius por respuestas este, algo molesto, le ayuda a hackear el dispositivo que grabó el incidente, en el proceso le corta la sesión a su terapeuta, ella baja todos los archivos y los escucha, se trata de un mujer llamada Samantha, al inicio son los de un cliente normal hasta que comienza a relatar la historia de una mujer que fue violada y luego asesinada para evitar que hable. Esto conmociona a Angela, que tiene una crisis de pánico, todo lo ocurrido se siente muy personal para ella, justo en ese momento la ejecutiva la llama para una reunión, le promete que ambas escucharan todo y llamaran al FBI, esta vez Angela acepta y no duda en salir por la puerta, no sin antes hacer un respaldo de todas las grabaciones.
En otra parte de la cuidad, el CEO de la compañía, recibe una llamada, del mismo numero que la otra ocasión, le informan que el trabajo fue completado, Bradley Hasling, es quien violo a Samantha y la mando a matar para evitar que lo denuncie, Sin embargo, no sabia que el dispositivo Kimi, que este le regalo para espiarla había grabado su ataque y mucho menos que una empleada había resuelto el crimen, por ello el sicario que contrato pide mas dinero para arreglar el nuevo problema.
El caos de las calles no ayudan a su ansiedad pero Angela logra llegar a la reunión, Natalie la recibe algo sospechosa y poco amena con a situación, luego se coloca a hablar del pasado de Angela y su enfermedad, lo que la coloca muy incomoda. Natalie sale de la oficina y la deja alli, Angela recibe un mensaje de Darius, alguien borro todo el contenido de Samantha del servidor luego ella ve como unos tipos sospechosos se aceran a ella asi huye del lugar. Rivas, el sicario, le pide mas dinero a Bradley ya que la chica escapo y necesitara de otros medio para encontrarla. Angela corre por la cuidada sin saber que su teléfono esta siendo rastreado, los asesinos dan con ella y la tratan de secuestrar en frente de una protesta. Sin embargo, la gente lo nota y la salvan, ya casi llegando a su casa Angela es capturada por los sujetos.
Cuando estos planean ingresarla al apartamento para fingir un robo que salió mal, Kevin, el vecino que espía todos los días a Angela, la salva y la ayuda a escapar, esta logra encerrarse en el apartamento pero ya Rivas esta dentro y la atrapa. Angela y Kevin, que esta herido, son retenidos en el lugar, Rivas quiere encontrar todas las copias que haya de las grabaciones, en eso Angela su ingenio para escapar usando a Kimi, ella llega al piso superior por un conducto, alli encuentra una pistola de clavos que usa para matar a sus captores, después calmada recibe a Terry que venia de visita esa noche y llama a la policía. La noticias hablan del arresto del CEO de Amygdala y vemos que Angela supero su agorafobia.
Análisis y Opinión
La película es un conflicto para mi, creo que inicialmente me gusto, su principio y gran parte del desarrollo me atraparon. Sin embargo el clímax y el final, ya no me agradaron tanto, la sentí anticlimática, como si me hubieran preparado para un gran golpe y este nunca llego, quería drama, crudeza humana que la ayudara a superar sus miedos y que la proyección que la protagonista estaba haciendo con Samantha fuera mas trascendental. Claro vivir esa experiencia la ayudo, pero no fue algo desgarrador sino simple. Es como si terminara con el helado de vainilla después de prometerte un sabor súper exótico, no me quejo de la vainilla, me gusta ese sabor, aunque decepciona si te lo dan asi.
Zoë Kravitz me parece una buena actriz, últimamente a trabajado en grandes producciones, además también soy mas consciente de sus actuaciones por alguna razón, ella me parece interesante, tiene un atractivo seductor que creo muchos han notado, asi que eso le da puntos a la película, al menos para mi.
La historia me hace reflexionar, soy mujer entiendo perfectamente lo que muchas mujeres enfrentan cada día con el tema de las agresiones o el acoso. También como un trauma escala a mayores, el tema de la agorafobia me es familiar y al igual que muchos la pandemia ayudo a debilitar mis reservas para socializar, cosa que complica mas la vida, asi que son mensajes y temas serios los que trata. Otra cosa seria que habla es sobre la intimidad de los usuarios y como grandes empresas toman esa información a través de nuestros dispositivos favoritos, para su bien.
Algo que no me gusto fueron los villano, no esperaba que los sicarios fueran sacados de una película de acción pero tampoco quería los de comedia que colocaron, parecían salidos de Home Alone [Mi pobre angelito en Latinoamérica] hasta la escena donde la protagonista los enfrenta con la pistola de clavos, parecía una parte sacada de esa película, claro sin la muerte de por medio, es que no solo eran torpes sino también poco inteligentes, porque intentaron secuestrar a alguien frente a un grupo de manifestantes, cosa que no pasa tan desapercibida como ellos pensaban, hay que ser algo tonto para no ver que eso fallaría y que los colocaría en riesgo de ser arrestados. Otro hecho que de verdad llama mi atención es saber porque Angela fue enjuiciada en vez de su atacante, entiendo que el sistema falla y las cosas terminan asi en ocasiones, pero al ver como mata a esos tipos tranquilamente, me hace pensar que tal vez no es la primera vez que mata.
En fin, creo que la recomendaría, tal vez no me gusto el final pero puede ser muy entretenida y atrapante, claro para cualquiera que la vea le aconsejo ser sensibles con los tema que trata.

Analysis and Opinion
The film is a conflict for me, I think I initially liked it, its beginning and much of the development caught me. However the climax and the end, I did not like it so much, I felt it anticlimactic, as if I had been prepared for a big blow and this never came, I wanted drama, human rawness to help her overcome her fears and that the projection that the protagonist was doing with Samantha was more transcendental. Of course, living that experience helped her, but it wasn't heartbreaking, it was simple. It's as if it ended with vanilla ice cream after promising you a super exotic flavor, I'm not complaining about vanilla, I like that flavor, although it's disappointing if you get it that way.
Zoë Kravitz seems to me a good actress, lately she has worked in big productions, plus I am also more aware of her performances for some reason, she seems interesting to me, she has a seductive appeal that I think many have noticed, so that gives points to the movie, at least for me.
The story makes me reflect, I am a woman, I understand perfectly well what many women face every day with the issue of aggressions or harassment. Something I didn't like were the villains, I didn't expect the hitmen to be taken from an action movie but I didn't want the comedy ones either, they looked like they came out of Home Alone [Mi pobre angelito in Latin America] even the scene where the protagonist confronts them with a nail gun, it looked like a part taken from that movie, Of course without death in the middle, they were not only clumsy but also unintelligent, because they tried to kidnap someone in front of a group of demonstrators, something that does not go as unnoticed as they thought, you have to be a fool not to see that this would fail and that would put them at risk of being arrested. Another fact that really catches my attention is to know why Angela was prosecuted instead of her attacker, I understand that the system fails and things end up like that sometimes, but seeing how she kills those guys calmly, makes me think that maybe it's not the first time she kills.
Anyway, I think I would recommend it, maybe I didn't like the ending but it can be very entertaining and catching, of course for anyone who sees it I advise you to be sensitive to the issues it deals with.
