Scent of a Woman (1992)

The extraordinary performance of Al Pacino as a blind war veteran with problems of bad past decisions and in contrast the role of Chris O Donell as a low-income student with the classic dilemmas of adolescence, make this film a compendium of feelings and situations that catch the viewer.

For those twists of life and destiny both men meet and begin a relationship that swings between the friendship of the boy who feels admiration for the man and the sudden outbursts of despair that are common in the old lieutenant colonel, which even lead him to want to commit suicide, however the boy demonstrating extreme patience manages to be a fundamental part in the decisions of the man who in the end becomes his temporary tutor and faces the university pack of those who try to expel the young man for not telling on his classmates.

After an aggressive speech full of truths and experiences, Frank Slade, the name of Pacino's character, manages to convince the Academic Council of the innocence of Charles, played by O Donell, and he is exonerated of guilt.

It is a film where emotions are masterfully handled and where we can see Pacino dancing tango, a scene that turns out to be the most widespread of this one.

It was directed by Martin Brest and was nominated for an Oscar in four different categories, with Pacino being singled out as the best actor, he also repeated in that category at the Golden Globes, and the film was selected as the winner of the latter as best drama film and best screenplay, Chris O Donell was selected as a promising actor at the CFCA awards and this performance opened the door to other productions such as playing Dartañan in The Three Musketeers, Robin in Batman Fiorever and Batman and Robin, and Ernest Hemingway in Passion of War.

Undoubtedly, "Scent of a Woman" is one of those films that one can watch several times and not lose the charm of the situations or the emotion of the events.
