This film combines black comedy with horror, where gourmet food prepared by a famous chef is the protagonist of the plot.

A select group of wealthy or high-ranking business people are the ones who can enjoy these delicacies and for that they must embark on the ship Hawthorne who takes them to a private island where the story unfolds.

However, Tyler, played by Nicholas Hoult, an actor with an outstanding career in film and television, is accompanied on this trip by a woman who provides escort services to gentlemen named Margot Mills, played by Anya Tylor-Hoy, winner of several awards, among them for the film "The Witch" and the miniseries "The Queen's Gambit", who for script reasons becomes one of the main characters.

Different and exotic dishes are served in the exclusive dining room, all creations of chef Julian Slowik, who is played by actor Ralph Fiennes, known for his work in the films "Schindler's List" and "The English Patient", as well as other films, and every time the round is finished, unexpected events occur.

The evening turns terrifying and the interactions between Margot and the chef break his schemes and produce unexpected reactions since she has entered impersonating another participant.

The screenplay written by Seth Reiss and Will Tracy is good and leads to scenes where suspense backed by Colin Stetson's music keeps the sighted moviegoer's attention as the film unfolds.

The direction was in charge of Mark Mylod, who reappeared in the cinema with this film since his last work had been in the "What's Your Number?" dedicating the following years to television.

It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 10, 2022, and the critics were favorable, highlighting the script, direction, production design and performances of the cast.

It had a cost of $30 million and to date has grossed $75 million, winning the Audience Award at Fantastic Fest and being nominated in others where it did not get the expected results and are pending decision.

Undoubtedly this is a film that leaves the good taste of the great ones and one that should be among the best of its genre.
