Hello everyone! December has arrived, when TV screens will start showing Christmas themed movies.
This time I want to write about Christmas movies that were set well in 2004, with very sophisticated technology to create an animated film. The Polar Express is a movie that I thought was really cool in 2004, using motion capture technology. This technology allows animation to look very real with the real world.
As we know, this movie got a world record as the first animated movie in the world that uses motion capture technology. Honestly, this animated movie for me is the best Christmas themed movie that really gets my attention. The most impressive thing in this movie is the use of motion capture technology which looks very real, even though for that era, this movie looks scary.
At that time, I thought, this movie looks like a porcelain doll that comes to life like a human being moved by something. Apart from that, The Polar Express provides a sense of gloom with its visuals, but also with its storyline. It looks magical but looks very quiet, try watching it again and feel the atmosphere on offer. Moreover, the train had arrived at the north pole, it felt very strange and lonely. In addition, The Polar Express presents a strange character, namely The Hobo who turns out to be a ghost, then all of the characters in the film also don't have names.
As I mentioned earlier, we don't recognize their names through the film. We can recognize them through the credit title after the film is finished. At least there are some characters written like The Hero Boy, The Hero Girl, Billy, Conductor, and The Hobo or the tramp. Tells about The Polar Epress which is a train that goes to The North Pole.
Synopsis
During the trip, they always stop in front of the house to pick up the children, like a boy from The Hero Boy. The hero boy is a little boy who does not believe in the presence of Santa Claus, he thinks that it is just a children's fairy tale. And miraculously, a train "The Polar Express" came to his house, the conductor said that this train will go to the north pole to meet Santa Claus. At first he was hesitant, but in the end he went along with the train which turned out to have carried many other children. Then while on the train he got a lot of amazing experiences.

One of the characters that raises a lot of questions is the Hobo. The first time we saw this man under the train carriage, the appearance of this character really surprised us. Then we will meet the homeless man when the hero boy gets on the train carriage, it seems that the homeless person is like an ordinary person who is illegal to get on the train. But it turns out that the tramp is a ghost figure who lives in the train.
What makes it interesting is that the voice of the Hobo is the same as the Conductor, but it turns out that their voice is filled by the famous actor, namely Tom Hanks. In addition, as you know, the point of view of this movie is taken from The Hero Boy when he is an adult, and it turns out that the voice of The Hero Boys is the same as the Conductor and the Hobo. So there are 3 different characters filled with the same voice, namely The Hero Boy, The Homeless and The Conductor.
The Hero Boy, The Conductor and The Hobo..

There are many theories that say that The Hero Boy, The Hobo and The Conductor are one and the same character. The Hero Boy is a representation of the Conductor and the Hobo when they grow up. At the beginning of the film, it is said that The Hero Boy is very doubtful about the presence of Santa Claus and he also feels that Christmas is not something magical anymore. Well, if this happened to him into the future, he would end up like the tramp. So, this bum also doubts the presence of Santa Claus, Christmas and so on, so if the hero boy still has doubts, he will have the same fate as the poor bum. It's different if he believes in Christmas, Santa Claus and so on, he will be the conductor in the future, becoming an important person, helpful and blessed by the power of Christmas.
So the two figures, The Conductor and The Hobo are future versions of The Hero Boy. Depends on what he chooses, whether to believe in Christmas or not, but at the end of the film we will find out that The Hero boy will choose to believe and he will not be like the tramp who is marked by the bum's waving hand and then disappears.
It Just a Dream..
The Polar Express is completely a dream. This theory can be seen by the scene at the beginning of the film, before the hero boy boarded the polar express, he seemed to fall asleep and then the sound of the train came then he got up and headed for the train, then it can also be seen that the clock ticking was still heard and was disguised by the sound coming train. This shows that the hero boy has entered the subconscious. Another evidence that can show that everything is a dream is the jacket worn by the hero boy, he pulled his jacket torn and dropped some marbles from his jacket pocket, but when in the ending scene of the film, the hero boy woke up from his sleep and then he ran until pulled his jacket to shreds. So his ripped jacket at the start of the film suggests that never happened and that it was part of his dream.

However, this theory can be refuted, with a scene where the hero boy receives a gift from Mr. C whose contents are a bell given by Santa Klaus while at The North Pole. Seen in the scene, that the gift of the bell was given by the Conductor who wrote that the conductor found the bell in the chair occupied by the hero boy. Okay, that's my theory and review about the polar express film. See you in the next film review!
