ABOUT THE MOVIE

The First purge is the third and probably last installment of “The Purge” franchise. The purge follows the common theme of the first prequels. People talk about making sacrifices and fixing issues like overpopulation, poverty and hunger but what would you do if you found yourself in The Purge? The movie is about a special day set out in America where every type of crime is permitted.

The movie, titled “The First Purge”, directed by Gerard McMurray was based on the first-ever purge in Staten Island. According to the founding fathers, based on the plot, the plan was to facilitate the growth of American society through these events. This led to lead Psychologist, Dr. May(played by Marisa Tomei) to sanction the orchestration of an experimental purge .

If you enjoy pointless violence and a few boring jokes here and there, then this movie is for you. Reduce your expectations though, because it is even worse than the two prequels. The chain of events that ensued proved that the purge wasn’t going to achieve its result and instead, caused the start of a conspiracy against the government.

This movie, focused on lead characters Dmitri(Y'lan Noel), Nya(Lex Scott Davis) and her brother Isaiah(Joivan Wade), who signed up to be paid to purge. The movie can be classified as a horror/Action movie.

Observation

This movie had some annoying Hollywood Cliches. The scene where the boy could have just showed that psycho guy but instead runs away comes to mind.
The few funny scenes were labored and seemed boring. XXX tired to be funny but most times sounded off and annoying.
People could have easily left the town but chose to stay, as evident in the statement XXX made to XXX when she assumed he had left town.
Also, why are they whining about being purged? They could have all easily gone out of town too
Isn’t it just convenient that the drug lord in the city just happens to be a hero? That’s the highest form of customer care I have ever seen.
By the way, one guy took down a whole army of trained mercs and all he got was the usual injury close to his spleen? Yeah. Haven’t I seen that before?
I also wonder where those tiny drones store their bullets
The United Nations and other human right bodies actually let this happen? That’s rich. Conclusion It is an action movie but nothing that will actually get you off your seat. It had a predictable storyline, some shoddy acting and rife with Hollywood clichés. Good luck watching this one
