Greetings dear community of critics. I join in this opportunity to share with you my impression about a movie released last August entitled "The Patient".

It is a series of ten chapters and from what I could see it is the first season. I have no idea if there will be more to come although, the ending of the movie suggests that there will be a continuation. I will wait.

Everyone interprets the films in their own way. Each one applies or rescues, according to his or her experience, hidden themes in each one of them. They may not be the best interpretations or we may not even come close to the author's ideas, but in the end, they are points of view and therefore, they must be respected.

Saludos estimada comunidad de críticos. Me uno en esta oportunidad para compartir con ustedes mi impresión sobre una película estrenada en agosto de año pasado titulada "El Paciente".

Es una serie de diez capítulos y por lo que pude ver se trata de la primera temporada. No tengo idea si vendrán otras más aunque, el final de la película sugiere que habrá continuación. Esperaré.

Cada quién interpreta las películas a su modo. Cada quién aplica o rescata, de acuerdo a su experencia temas ocultos en cada una de ellas. Puede que no sean las mejores interpretaciones o ni siquiera nos acerquemos a lo planteado por el autor pero en fin, son puntos de vista y por ende, deben ser respetados.

"The Patient", its first three chapters grabbed me. The suspense really took hold of me in these first minutes. It seems to me that the beginning was right because it leaves the audience with a lot of expectations.

Steve Carell is the name of the character who plays Alan Strauss, a therapist who is mourning the recent death of his wife. The other main character is played by actor Domhnall Gleeson as Sam Fortner, a serial killer.

Sam turns out to be Alan's new patient. At the beginning, Sam does not tell the whole truth to the therapist, he seems rather to explore the context in order to know how to act later on. Sam had a plan in his mind that he would carry out no matter what.

"El Paciente", sus tres primeros capítulos me atraparon. Realmente wl suspenso se apoderó de mí en estos primeros minutos. Me parece que fue acertado el inicio porque deja con mucha expectativas a la audiencia.

Steve Carell es el nombre de quien interpreta a Alan Strauss, un terapeuta quien se encuentra de luto por la reciente muerte de su esposa. El otro personaje principal lo interpreta el actor Domhnall Gleeson en el papel de Sam Fortner, un asesino en serie.

Sam resulta ser un nuevo paciente de Alan. Al inicio, Sam no cuenta toda la verdad al terapeuta, parece más bien que explora el contexto para saber como actuar más adelante. Sam tenía en su mente un plan que llevaría a cabo sea como sea.

The undercurrent in Sam's attitude was to seek help to end his compulsive behavior. He had already tried other therapists but nothing worked. The fear was that this young man could not confess his crimes for fear of being punished.

That idea kept him disturbed, so he considered that the solution would be to kidnap his therapist to get help. As long as he kept him in captivity, Sam could drain his emotions and confess his crimes. For his part, Dr. Alan, Sam's unwilling prisoner, could in no way reveal his secret.

I was able to extract from this series the importance of learning to manage emotions. Sam was mistreated by his father since he was a child. This situation generated a trauma and was the reason why he became a serial killer.

El transfondo en en la actitud de Sam era buscar ayuda para acabar con su conducta compulsiva. Ya había probado con otros terapeutas pero nada daba resultado. El tem era que este jóven no podía confesar sus crímenes por temor a ser castigado.

Esa idea lo mantuvo perturbado por tal motivo consideró que la solución sería secuestrar a su terapeuta para conseguir ayuda. Mientras lo mantuviera en cautiverio, Sam podía drenar sus emociones y confesar sus crímenes. Por su parte, el Dr. Alan preso involuntario de Sam no podía de ninguna manera revelar su secreto.

Pude extraer de esta serie la importacia de aprender a manejar las emociones. Sam, fue maltratado por su padre desde pequeño. Esta situación genero un trauma y fue la razón por la cual se convierte en un asesino en serie.

During the development of the plot and the actions in each chapter led me to think about the term "Patient" in its double conception. Patient not only implied the therapist's work with this person of twisted behavior. It also implied Dr. Alan's patience in treating the sick person.

Being patient meant for Alam, looking for tools and strategies applicable to Sam. It implied reflecting, reviewing his own life, his way of acting towards his deceased wife and children, recognizing where he failed as a father, as a husband, as a person; recognizing in front of his kidnapper all that he contributed to his life while in captivity, to the point of daring to confess his own compulsions.

In other words, from a therapist she becomes a patient in her turn.

Durante el desarrollo de la trama y las acciones en cada capítulo me llevó a pensar el término "Paciente" en su doble concepción. Paciente no solo implicó el trabajo del terapeuta con esta persona de conducta retorcida. Tambien, implicó la paciencia del Dr. Alan para tratar al enfermo.

Ser paciente significó para Alam, buscar herramientas y estrategias aplicables para Sam. Implicó reflexionar, revisar su propia vida, su manera de actuar frente a su fallecida esposa e hijos, reconocer dónde falló como padre, como esposo, como persona; reconocer frente a su secuestrador todo lo que aportaba a su vida estando en cautiverio, hasta el punto de atreverse a confesar sus propias compulsiones.

Es decir, de terapeuta se convierte a su vez en paciente.

I would like to tell you many more things about the film, but it is better to let others appreciate this work that encourages deep reflection.

I liked the film, I liked the plot, I loved the extraordinary performance of the main characters and the message they leave us.

Me gustaría contarles muchas cosas más de la película pero, es mejor dejar que otros aprecien este trabajo que exhorta a reflexionar profundamente.

Me gustó la película, me gustó la trama, me encantó la extraordinaria actuación de los personajes principales y el mensaje que nos dejan.
