For days now I have seen several posts in the community about this movie, but I didn’t want to dwell on any of them because as soon as I saw Tom Hanks on the cover I knew I had to see it, besides the fact that by its name we anticipate what it’s about and in this case it doesn’t leave much to the imagination.

Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors, I have seen many of his movies but my all time favorite will always be Forrest Gump, it is one of those movies that no matter how many times I see it I always find something different that I like and that is why I see it every time it crosses my path or on the programming menu.

SYNOPSIS

Otto, who lives on the lookout for others to follow the rules, always nags and scolds the one who does not. One day a Hispanic family, consisting of Marisol, Tommy and their two young daughters, moves into the house across the street. The arrival of these people will make Otto change the way he feels, thinks and does, becoming Grandpa Otto.

CHARACTERS

Otto, who is our protagonist played by Tom Hanks, is an old man who lives in a residential complex for a long time with his wife who died only two years ago. This place is his home and so he has always made sure that neighbors and visitors follow the established rules, because rules are made to be followed. He is a grumpy and grumpy man, but deep down he is an excellent person and never says no.

He is a sad character, with no will to live since his wife passed away and he has tried to remedy this to be with the love of his life but his plans have never materialized and although he has no will to live because he finds no meaning in life, he never stops caring about others and helping the community. I loved this character because he is his own grumpy self, he nags and nags but in the end he ends up doing what is asked of him.

Tom Hanks’ appearance is super different, he looks thinner now and of course the years have passed him by, but even though we don’t see him much in movies like this, because particularly in recent years he only does more serious movies or movies based on true events, there’s no denying that he has talent for anything that comes his way.

Our other main character is Marisol, played by Mexican actress Mariana Treviño, the first time I saw this actress was in a Telemundo soap opera called “100 días para enamorarnos” she also acted in “Club de Cuervos” a Netflix series but this series I didn’t get to see. She is a very charismatic actress and her acting stands out from the screen, I imagine her real personality must be that overwhelming.

From her first appearance in the movie she was so outrageous, I immediately thought she was a confident person but it’s also true that Latinos, even if it bothers some that we are painted that way, we are like that and I think we carry the joy and the will to live in our veins and that shows, no matter the adversities we always get ahead. Those were the characteristics I saw in Marisol, charismatic, demolishing, a friend and she doesn’t let anyone say no to her, without a doubt the scenes where she appears are the best in the film.

Although these two characters are the ones that stand out in the whole movie, the rest of the cast also does an excellent job, I really liked seeing the rest of the neighbors interacting with Otto, it was like when we accept a person because we love them but we know they have a bad character, then it was like. He is like that.

MY OPINION

This is a movie that leaves nothing to the imagination and doesn’t have that plot twist where you say, I didn’t expect that to happen. As the scenes go by you keep imagining what’s going to happen and you usually get it right. It’s a story that has been told many times in movies and television, which is about a person who changes his perception of life with the arrival of a new person full of life and joy, it reminded me of the animated movie Up: A Great Adventure, because of all the flashbacks of Otto’s life with his wife, this part is a little sad. So I could say that during the 126 minutes that the movie lasts I had several feelings and I liked that because I feel that it is not a movie that only makes you laugh or makes you cry but rather to give meaning to life.

Although it doesn’t have that surprising touch, it was a movie that I really liked, I enjoyed it to the fullest, it took me through a path of friendship, acceptance, solidarity and above all love, I love movies like that and in this case I don’t mind that it doesn’t have the twist in the plot that could make it more interesting.

Desde hace días he visto varias publicaciones en la comunidad sobre esta película, pero no quería detenerme en ninguno de ellos porque en cuanto vi a Tom Hanks en la portada supe que tenía que verla, además de que por su nombre anticipamos de qué se trata y en este caso no deja mucho a la imaginación.

Tom Hanks es uno de mis actores favoritos, he visto muchas de sus películas pero mi favorita de todos los tiempos siempre será Forrest Gump, es una de esas películas que no importa cuantas veces la vea siempre encuentro algo diferente que me gusta y por eso la veo cada vez que se cruza en mi camino o en el menú de programación.

SINÓPSIS

Otto, que vive pendiente de que los demás sigan las normas, siempre regaña y regaña al que no lo hace. Un día, una familia hispana, formada por Marisol, Tommy y sus dos hijas pequeñas, se muda a la casa de enfrente. La llegada de estas personas hará que Otto cambie su forma de sentir, pensar y hacer, convirtiéndose en el abuelo Otto.

PERSONAJES

Otto, que es nuestro protagonista interpretado por Tom Hanks, es un anciano que vive en un complejo residencial desde hace mucho tiempo con su mujer que murió hace tan sólo dos años. Este lugar es su hogar y por eso siempre se ha asegurado de que los vecinos y visitantes sigan las reglas establecidas, porque las reglas están para cumplirlas. Es un hombre gruñón y cascarrabias, pero en el fondo es una excelente persona y nunca dice que no.

Es un personaje triste, sin ganas de vivir desde que falleció su mujer y ha intentado remediarlo para estar con el amor de su vida pero sus planes nunca se han materializado y aunque no tiene ganas de vivir porque no le encuentra sentido a la vida, nunca deja de preocuparse por los demás y de ayudar a la comunidad. Me ha encantado este personaje porque es el propio gruñón, rezonga y rezonga pero al final acaba haciendo lo que se le pide.

La apariencia de Tom Hanks es súper diferente, ahora se ve más delgado y claro que los años han pasado por él, pero aunque no lo vemos mucho en películas como esta, porque particularmente en los últimos años solo hace películas más serias o basadas en hechos reales, no se puede negar que tiene talento para todo lo que se le presente.

Nuestra otra protagonista es Marisol, interpretada por la actriz mexicana Mariana Treviño, la primera vez que vi a esta actriz fue en una telenovela de Telemundo llamada “100 días para enamorarnos” también actuó en “Club de Cuervos” una serie de Netflix pero esta serie no llegué a verla. Es una actriz muy carismática y su actuación sobresale de la pantalla, me imagino que su personalidad real debe ser así de arrolladora.

Desde su primera aparición en la película fue tan escandalosa, inmediatamente pensé que era una persona confianzuda pero también es cierto que los latinos, aunque a algunos les moleste que nos pinten de esa manera, somos así y creo que llevamos la alegría y las ganas de vivir en las venas y eso se nota, sin importar las adversidades siempre salimos adelante. Esas fueron las características que vi en Marisol, carismática, arrasadora, amiga y no deja que nadie le diga que no, sin duda las escenas donde aparece son las mejores de la película.

Aunque estos dos personajes son los que destacan en toda la película, el resto del elenco también hace un excelente trabajo, me gustó mucho ver al resto de los vecinos interactuando con Otto, fue como cuando aceptamos a una persona porque la queremos pero sabemos que tiene mal carácter, entonces fue como. Él es así.

MI OPINIÓN

Es una película que no deja nada a la imaginación y no tiene ese giro argumental en el que dices, no esperaba que pasara eso. A medida que pasan las escenas vas imaginando lo que va a pasar y normalmente aciertas. Es una historia que se ha contado muchas veces en cine y televisión, que trata de una persona que cambia su percepción de la vida con la llegada de una nueva persona llena de vida y alegría, me recordó a la película de animación Up: Una gran aventura, por todos los flashbacks de la vida de Otto con su mujer, esta parte es un poco triste. Así que podría decir que durante los 126 minutos que dura la película tuve varios sentimientos y eso me gustó porque siento que no es una película que solo te hace reír o te hace llorar, sino más bien trata sobre darle sentido a la vida.

Aunque no tiene ese toque sorprendente, fue una película que me gustó mucho, la disfruté al máximo, me llevó por un camino de amistad, aceptación, solidaridad y sobre todo amor, me encantan las películas así y en este caso no me importa que no tenga el giro en la trama que podría hacerla más interesante.
