As Netflix is gearing up to the May 29th release for the first half of season 5 of Arrested Development, folks are starting to go bananas!

A wise man once said, “There’s Always Money in the Banana Stand”. Ok...I take “wise” back, but that fact that Netflix teamed up with Ben & Jerry’s yesterday in Burbank to hold a promotional event in honor of the new season of one of my favorites is indeed...a wise move.
As my Man on the Street, Ron O reports...

Over 500 people lined the street in front of the Ben & Jerry’s in Burbank California on Thursday to partake in the shenanigans. There were plenty of fun events for fans of the show. A claw machine was popular with folks trying to win either a stuffed cow that got you some free tasty ice cream at the Ben & Jerry’s or a red Make America Bluth Again hat. Pretty funny...

While the shows opening jingle blasted through the street, fanny packs, posters, buttons, and bumper stickers were passed out to those that were braving the lines. You were able to pose and snap pics at the mock up Bluth’s Banana Stand (which sadly was not selling bananas) and chat with the friendly promo team.

All in all I love marketing like this. It gets people excited and involved and ultimately...talking. Kudos Netflix!!
The first half of Arrested Development Season 5 will be available to binge on May 29 on Netflix. The second half is set to be released sometime later in the year.

Ron O is my buddy and my new “man on the street” for fun events in the So Cal area. Look forward to more from him in upcoming pieces.

If I were Ron, I would have rented a segway and rode to the event. That's literally the only time riding a segway would have looked cool.
