Hello friends, hope our day is going well. So am going to be giving a review of the Netflix movie TALL GIRL. It is a heart warming romantic comedy movie with a sweet ending. Directed by Nzingha Stewart, it starred Ava Michelle, Griffin Gluck, Sabrina Carpenter, Paris Betel, Luke Eisner and others. The movie revolves around Jodi, a high school student who was already 6'1ft tall at age 16. As a "Tall Girl ", she was teased about her height since elementary school, due to this her self esteem was kept under the box. Even though she had some one crushing on her she still had that mindset that she was to tall for him not wanting to give him a chance. Not until a tall, handsome Swedish exchange student came to their school. Jodi who did her best not to be seen, hiding in sweatshirt and other men wears making her look like "a very large little boy" according to her older sister suddenly wanted to be noticed by the new guy Stig.
Tall Girl is a simple and straightforward movie focusing on the experiences of teens in high school, unrequited love, bullying, self esteem troubles and being perfect. Showing the life of Jodi as the Tall Girl, what she goes through as a student to finding love and also accepting herself the way she is. There's also Jack Dunkleman who has always had a crush on Jodi but always on the sideline because Jodi feels she is too tall for him. Also, Jodi's older sister Harper Kreyman who has had a perfect life and prefers staying that way, winning different beauty pageant and aiming to do better to win more crowns. Another character is Stig, the tall, handsome new exchange student from Sweden who Jodi is in love with. His life in the new school seemed to be a perfect one, being popular, dating the most popular girl in school and all but in his other school he is more like a "dork", like the most uncool guy in the school.
In my opinion, i think Jodi's height was exaggerated because if there was to be a basketball team in the school then her height would not be an issue, also in other to make a point about her height i could say that majority of cast were like scouted for their height because the other cast were no more than 5ft tall. Although laying emphasis on the height, they were only trying to pass a message of self awareness and self confidence, "acceptance of one self". The movie showed the uniqueness of being different and loving yourself. There was a time i overheard someone telling the other person that she is fat, the response of this other person was however mind-blowing. Her response was "yea i know but am more beautiful than you are", you can see there that she has been able to build her self confidence to a level of "i don't care what you think about my body, i love me this way" it is more like keep your opinion to yourself.
The ending of the movie was satisfying and beautiful, being able to end up with the one who trust and shows confidence in her plus Jack gets to use is milk crate after all....lol. A simple and sweet movie that you can watch with your family especially if you have teens in your home, you never can tell what they are struggling with plus the movie also brightens up the mood.
So guys thank you for reading and have a great day...
