CineTV Netflix Review: Behind Her Eyes

Review by @bozz · 1960d · of Behind Her Eyes

Behind Her Eyes cast : Meet the stars of the must-watch Netflix thriller | BT TV

It seem like every time you turn around Netflix is recommending something that you should watch. I think that was the case when @mrsbozz and I learned about "Behind Her Eyes". Based on the description it sounded like something we would certainly be interested in.

"Behind Her Eyes is the story of Louise, played by Simona Brown, a single mother who has a one-night stand with a man in a bar, only to discover that he is her new boss, David, played by Tom Bateman. Louise's new friend Adele (Eve Hewson) also happens to be David's wife."

Sounds pretty interesting right? Something like "The Girl on the Train" or "Gone Girl". Something with a little bit of mystery and suspense, but also something that you could totally see happening in every day life.

Before I get to the bad, I am going to give you the good. Unfortunately in this case, the bad outweighs the good. The acting is fairly decent. Especially by the lead Simona Brown. She is funny and likable. She embodies the character very well and throughout the show you find yourself rooting for her.

She is someone you would most likely want to be friends with and she brings an energy to the character that is not magnetic, but pretty close.

The other characters are also well played, but not quite to the level of the lead character.

Unfortunately, that is about where the good stuff ends.

At one point in this short series, the show takes a slight sci/fi turn. I am not going to divulge much more to keep from spoiling it from you, but this is a huge deal. Maybe not for everyone, but my wife is not that much of a Sci/Fi fan.

She was pretty disappointed when that moment came and I am actually shocked she ended up finishing the show with me. I think she was more than ready to write it off all together as soon as it took the turn.

In addition to the genre turn, I also found the show a bit predictable. I had a feeling it was going to the direction it ended up going, so the big surprise at the end wasn't that much of a surprise for me.

I am not going to tell you to skip this one, but I just think you should know going in that it might not be the harmless drama/suspense mini-series that you think it is.

It does have some pretty great psychological games in it a-la the aforementioned "Gone Girl", but as I said in the case of my wife the genre jump was just too much to overcome.

If you have watched this, I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it. If you know me in Discord, feel free to hit me up there if you are worried about posting spoilers in the comments.

Well done on the casting for this one Netflix, but overall, you missed the mark. image source

I watched this one too, and I was pretty impressed the first time "that thing" happened. It was kind of like a WTF?

I found it entertaining enough to keep watching.

I was thinking about watching this series when it came out, but then I read that its ending was super disappointing and that discouraged me from watching it. I am still doubting if whether I should watch it or not.

I watched this series a few weeks ago. In the beginning i did not find it interesting but my wife kept insisting me to watch this and as we watched 2-3 episodes i started to like it. And the the end just was very unexpected to me, A mush watch if you are into mystery stories.
