Behind Her Eyes, is really a big hole in the water that has, however, managed to weave its way with millions of views and lots of chatter, with viewers ready to defend it at sword point at any time and circumstance.
The worrying thing is that the series is not a rarity in the current Netflixian landscape.
Scrolling through the ranking of the most viewed TV series on Netflix, it's easy to realize how the generalist bent has now, and unfortunately, become a habit and perhaps a strategy for Netflix itself.
Titles such as Bridgerton, Winx, Lupin, Firefly Lane, are products intended for those who (and there is nothing wrong in being in this category of viewers) in TV series seeks a moment of pure fun and entertainment, at the expense of quality.
The fact that Netflix constantly proposes us titles of this type makes us understand how the platform is turning towards a form of entertainment much less sophisticated and original and much more flat and pre-packaged.
Behind Her Eyes, it is better to underline it again, belongs inexorably to this circle, resulting in a slightly pleasant product and totally lacking in ideas and originality. A product that would have had some chance to exist and to be applauded maybe 20-25 years ago, certainly not today.

ENG
Netflix continues its generalist turn by presenting us with a product without any consistency but capable of capturing the attention of the public much more than any authorial TV series (note what happened with Damien Chazelle's The Eddy to believe us).
Behind Her Eyes, published in Italy under the title Dietro ai suoi occhi, is a resounding success not only in our country but also worldwide.
A 6-episode mini-series written by Steve Lightfoot, already a writer of some episodes of The Punisher and Hannibal, the series has literally panicked the subscribers of the big N, attracting the attention of those who, like me, try to keep up with the news, always on the lookout for TV series that can make you feel warm but also for the big hits that you should absolutely avoid.
Behind his eyes belongs this second group, thicker and thicker and inhabiting the glorious streaming platform of Hastings.
A confused and disjointed plot, a mediocre cast, a banal story told in a thousand other ways in the recent past and the pretense of being something new, striking, important.
Behind its eyes, there is none of that.
It is a slick, overtly generalized product, artfully packaged to appeal to the general public despite profound narrative incoherence and very low quality.
The story is one of those seen over and over again on the small and big screen.
One would call them psychological thrillers in the great library of seriality but one would be hard pressed to find originality in that definition.
It's one thing to want to be something new, it's another to want to be a series that can appeal to a wide audience.
Behind His Eyes is to seriality what Tavernello is to wine.
Everyone knows this but no sommelier would ever present a glass of tavernello at a dinner party.
The Netflix series is exactly that.
A very famous title but that lovers of cinema, seriality would urge you to avoid like the plague.
The series has nothing original and, worse, when it tries to be, it manages to be ridiculous, bringing twists and turns devoid of any construction and good only to surprise a distracted audience.
The cast includes a good Eve Hewson (The Knick), accompanied by Roger Federer's double (tell me I'm not the only one who noticed the resemblance between Tom Bateman and the Swiss champion...) and the semi-unknown Simona Brown.
The problem with the series is that it manages to irritate those who, like me, have chewed up a lot of TV series and spat out as much, but it probably manages to capture the most inexperienced and least detail-oriented audience.
Not every series can aspire to be Breaking Bad or The Wire, to have the elegance of Rectify or Mad Men, to amaze like Legion or Fargo, to be visionary like Mr. Robot or Watchmen, but every series should have its own space, its own role, play its part.
The great misunderstanding that arises about series like Behind Her Eyes is that they are seen as beautiful because they are successful, as masterpieces because they are so well-known.
And this raises the ire of those who would watch such series while they are busy doing the dishes or emptying the washing machine, while they are clearing space on the shelves or ordering yet another book on Amazon.
Behind Her Eyes' place is among everyday things, it is in your free time, it lives and insinuates itself in the spaces between doing many other things while keeping the TV on, it is not in the memory board, it is not in the list of series you would like to revisit, recommend, pass on. Follow me

Netflix is coming up with new content all the time, and Behind Her Eyes is an example of such a series. It is a series with six episodes, and that is it. I didn't want to watch it at all, but since my wife wanted to watch it, I decided to join in. After 20 minutes, I actually didn't mind watching it, as I was quite curious about the outcome. After 3 episodes, I was quite bored, but I still remained curious about the plot and the outcome. I also asked myself whether "experts" here like @jcrodriguez and others would be able to predict the outcome, even before the story came to an end...
We meet a woman who works as a secretary in an office for psychiatrists. One day, a new psychiatrist is arriving, and by a big coincidence, the secretary accidentally kissed this guy the day before during a bar visit. It all ended there, but the chemistry is there, and a relationship is about to start. But, the psychiatrist is married to a woman, and soon that woman becomes a good friend with the secretary. But, the friendship between the wife and the secretary remains a secret to the psychiatrist, and the relationship (which includes sex) between the psychiatrist and the secretary remains a secret to the wife. It might sound like a standard plot, but there is more to the story than just this.
Something is strange about the marriage between the psychiatrist and the wife. Something doesn't add up. But, who is the crazy person? Is it the wife or is it the psychiatrist?
For 5 full episodes, this is the question that the viewer asks, and in the sixth and final episode, the answer is given¤
As I mentioned above, for five episodes, I was discussing with my wife what was really going on and who is the bad and crazy person of the story. All sorts of theories and solutions were discussed, and so, when the explanation was given in the final episode, it was kind of annoying!
It was good because it explained what was going on and who was causing the trouble.
But, it was incredibly annoying, because it was a solution that it was impossible to predict and foresay. It wasn't based on any human logic, at least not until you saw the explanation given in the last episode. And for the story to end in the way it did, so many perfect coincidences had to take place, that it felt almost stupid to me. Of course, everything was explained, but I hated the way in which the "supernatural" "soul-movement" showed up and turned out to be the solution and explanation to everything that we had seen in the first five episodes.
It was a bit too long, it was boring at times, but it still managed to keep my attention. But, it destroyed a part of the fun with the final explanation... It was brilliant, in a way, but I didn't really appreciate how they went away from pure logic and explained it with something impossible.
Still, I believe millions of people will enjoy this!
My score: 6.5/10
Now I am very curious to hear from those of you who have seen Behind Hery Eyes on Netflix. How did you like the story? How did you like the end? Do you agree with me, or did you enjoy the fact that the story didn't end with a traditional final, and a traditional happy end? I would love to hear your thoughts!
