Sinceramente una película que no esperaba, y que comencé a ver por la recomendación de un compañero de clases, entonces la comencé en mi día libre: el viernes, lo primero que me llamo la atención es que tenía la actuación de Adam Sandler, mi actor favorito, pero no es una comedia, si no un drama deportivo. Así que por diversos motivos esta película me cautivo y quise verla, realmente esta película me ayudo mucho a desconectarme de la realidad y de la semana tan complicada que había tenido, así que por esto también me anime a hacer este post.
Hustle o garra traducida al español, trata sobre un cazatalentos de baloncesto, que lleva meses intentando conseguir al jugador estrella que lo lleve a convertirse en el entrenador que siempre ha soñado, este consigue a un albañil en España con una vida complicada pero con un talento increíble. Así que a pesar de todo Stanley defenderá a este muchacho llamado Bo Cruz, y se atreverá a todo por demostrar este talento hasta el final.
Sincerely a movie that I did not expect, and that I started to see by the recommendation of a classmate, then I started it on my day off: Friday, the first thing that caught my attention is that it had the performance of Adam Sandler, my favorite actor, but it is not a comedy, but a sports drama. So for various reasons this movie captivated me and I wanted to see it, this movie really helped me to disconnect from reality and the complicated week I had had, so that's why I also encouraged me to make this post.
Hustle or claw translated into Spanish, is about a basketball scout, who has been trying for months to get the star player that will lead him to become the coach he has always dreamed of, he gets a bricklayer in Spain with a complicated life but with an incredible talent. So in spite of everything Stanley will defend this boy named Bo Cruz, and he will dare everything to prove this talent until the end.

Esta es una cinta inspiradora, que vi en Netflix y que sinceramente me gusto, a pesar de que las películas deportivas no son lo mío y no estoy muy familiarizada con el baloncesto. Sin embargo, la película me cautivo y quiero hacer la reseña detallada de esta cinta. Un dato interesante, es que el personaje de Cruz es en realidad un jugador de la NBA, y esta es de hecho su primera película.
Tengo que mencionar que he amado con locura ver a Adam Sandler salir de su zona de confort, su personaje de Stanley es realmente la estrella que se lleva toda la atención en la cinta, esta es una de esas películas que sin un ingrediente no hubiese funcionado, en esta película este ingrediente es Adam Sandler, con un personaje que nos muestra una persona que siente que necesita algo que lo motive y cambie el destino de su vida, que no se va a detener porque siente que ya ha perdido mucho, un personaje conmovedor que inspira al espectador.
Otro de los personajes principales es Bo Cruz, el cual sentí que tuvo un papel evidentemente de superación, pero también una historia que parece ser especial, sin embargo, debo decir que en ocasiones sentía que este personaje no me mostraba tantos sentimientos como el de Stanley por ejemplo.
This is an inspiring film that I watched on Netflix and I honestly liked it, even though sports movies are not my thing and I am not very familiar with basketball. However, the movie captivated me and I want to make a detailed review of this film. Interesting fact, Cruz's character is actually an NBA player, and this is actually his first movie.
I have to mention that I have madly loved seeing Adam Sandler out of his comfort zone, his character of Stanley is really the star that gets all the attention in the film, this is one of those movies that without one ingredient would not have worked, in this movie this ingredient is Adam Sandler, with a character that shows us a person that feels he needs something to motivate him and change the destiny of his life, that he is not going to stop because he feels he has already lost a lot, a touching character that inspires the viewer.
Another main character is Bo Cruz, who I felt had a role obviously of overcoming, but also a story that seems to be special, however, I must say that at times I felt that this character did not show me as many feelings as Stanley for example.

Esta no es la historia más original del mundo, hemos visto esta misma trama de superación y esfuerzo muchas veces, esto es algo que tuve claro desde un principio, así que no esperaba sorprenderme demasiado, pero me disfrute todo el proceso de ver la película. Hay elementos que me llegaron al alma y fue ese susurro de que jamás hay que rendirse aunque el mundo nos de la espalda, de luchar por esos sueños, de esforzarse y de nunca rendirse.
Debo confesar que sabía que algunas cosas si o si pasarían, pero aún así esta película consiguió sacarme lagrimas en varias ocasiones, porque no solamente toca el drama deportivo también tiene tintes de lo que representa la familia, las pesadillas de nuestro interior y las dificultades que puede darte la falta de recursos económicos, porque mientras más crecemos, más nos damos cuenta, de que el dinero no es un lujo, es una necesidad.
Respecto al ritmo de la cinta y la trama, puedo decir que la primera media hora de película puede parecer un poco lenta para lo que no estamos familiarizados con el baloncesto, pero por otro lado, cuando toma fuerza la historia se hace todo muy entretenido y te atrapa. En mi caso no hubo algo que me causara fastidio o que no pudiera entender, es una película que sabe llegar a todos los públicos.
This is not the most original story in the world, we have seen this same plot of overcoming and effort many times, this is something that was clear to me from the beginning, so I did not expect to be surprised too much, but I enjoyed the whole process of watching the film. There are elements that touched my soul and it was that whisper that you should never give up even if the world turns its back on you, to fight for your dreams, to strive and never give up.
I must confess that I knew that some things would happen, but even so this film managed to bring tears to my eyes on several occasions, because it not only touches the sports drama, it also has dyes of what represents the family, the nightmares of our inner self and the difficulties that the lack of economic resources can give you, because the more we grow, the more we realize that money is not a luxury, it is a necessity.
Regarding the pace of the film and the plot, I can say that the first half hour of the film may seem a little slow for those of us who are not familiar with basketball, but on the other hand, when the story picks up steam, everything becomes very entertaining and catches you. In my case there was nothing that annoyed me or that I could not understand, it is a film that knows how to reach all audiences.

Ahora, es imposible que un amante del baloncesto no se impresione por este drama deportivo, porque aparte se muestran grandes jugadores de la NBA; este mismo aspecto, hace que para los que no estamos tan empapados del tema, se sienta como una historia de la vida real, lo que cual me agrado, debido, a que me pude conectar con la historia y la viví al máximo.
La duración de la película es de casi dos horas, siento que se pudo haber cortado un poco el tiempo, ya que, hubo muchos partidos, pero también lo justifico por la historia que se presenta.
Hustle, es una película que me transmitió tanto, que volvería ver muchas veces más y que me dejo dos frases para toda mi vida: "Jamás te rindas" y " No importa la última jugada, importa la siguiente". Con esta película no solo me llevo una nueva faceta de Sandler si no que también se queda conmigo esta reflexión: que con esfuerzo podemos llegar a ser muy grandes. Una película que quizá no sea extraordinariamente original, que tiene sus errores pero que me cautivo.
Now, it is impossible for a basketball lover not to be impressed by this sports drama, because it also shows great NBA players; this same aspect, makes it feel like a real life story for those of us who are not so immersed in the subject, which I liked, because I was able to connect with the story and I lived it to the fullest.
The length of the movie is almost two hours, I feel that the time could have been cut a little, since there were many games, but I also justify it because of the story that is presented.
Hustle, is a movie that transmitted me so much, that I would come back to see many more times and that left me with two phrases for the rest of my life: "Never give up" and "It doesn't matter the last play, it matters the next one". With this film I not only take with me a new facet of Sandler, but I also take with me this reflection: that with effort we can become very great. A film that may not be extraordinarily original, that has its flaws but that captivated me.
