📸 Gossip Girl — S1E4: Bad News Blair | When Being Perfect Isn't Enough
Four episodes in, and I think “Bad News Blair” is the first episode that really made me feel for Blair.
At first, everything seems perfect for her. Eleanor chooses Blair to model her new clothing line, and you can immediately see how much her mother's approval means to her. Unfortunately, what should have been a special moment quickly becomes another reminder that Blair never feels quite good enough.
I especially liked seeing Serena and Blair together during the photoshoot. For once, their friendship feels genuine and fun instead of being completely dominated by secrets and competition. Of course, things don't stay that simple for long.
Dan and Serena also continue to be interesting. Their chemistry is obvious, but this episode makes their differences impossible to ignore. Serena lives in a world of money and privilege that Dan can observe but doesn't really belong to.
And then there's Nate and Chuck's weekend... which definitely shows us another side of their friendship.
⭐ My Rating: 87/100
Maybe not as dramatic as “Poison Ivy,” but I really enjoyed the extra focus on Blair. Seeing the insecurity behind her confidence makes her much more interesting, and her complicated relationship with Eleanor adds something deeper to all the Upper East Side glamour.
