On this occasion, I present to you one of the most beautiful, endearing, memorable, and successful songs by The Beatles, a song with a reflective, sad, yet also hopeful tone. For us Beatles fans, it's seen as a kind of sad farewell to the group. That's why we see and hear it as The Beatles' farewell. In fact, it was the last record they released to the public in March-April 1970 (although the song was recorded years earlier), when the musical entity called The Beatles ceased to exist. It was recorded between January and April 1969 at Apple and EMI Studios in London. I see it as the beginning of the end.

This wonderful song reached number 1 on the Billboard charts and remained there for two weeks in April 1970, becoming the last Beatles single to achieve that prestigious position. In England, the single's A-side was "Let It Be," and the B-side featured a very unconventional song called "You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)." However, in the United States, the single was released with "Let It Be" on the A-side and "The Long and Winding Road" (another McCartney song that appeared on the album).

This LP was also released with a biographical film and audiovisual material featuring the Beatles' participation in some of the album's recording sessions. A project called "Get Back" had been planned previously. The "Let It Be" album was unique in that it wasn't produced by George Martin; instead, it was produced by another record producer of the time named Phil Spector (who, in my opinion, did an excellent job, but the sound was quite orchestral and very different from the Beatles sound George Martin had accustomed us to). I mentioned that the song "Let It Be" itself has three different guitar versions, the result of multiple takes.

Another detail was the mixes made of several songs; Glyn Johns' mix stands out, as he remixed much of the material. These changes and modifications, both to the songs and the film itself, appear in a documentary titled "Super Deluxe" of Let It Be, released recently in 2021, under the direct supervision of Disney, with remasters and improvements to the videos, resulting in a quality superior to the originals.

Another version of Let It Be appeared on the album "Let It Be...Naked," where you can hear all the original songs from the album, but without any additional retouching or orchestration, just the pure sound, in the style of George Martin. (This album was released in 2003.) The video I'm sharing with you today is from the "Let It Be" documentary. It features Paul on lead vocals, playing maracas, piano, and bass (he's only seen playing piano in the video), John on backing vocals and rhythmic guitar , George also on backing vocals and lead guitar, and Ringo on drums. In the video, we see George Martin playing a kind of maraca, and on the album, he contributed a string arrangement. Billy Preston played the Hammond organ, and Linda McCartney (Paul's wife at the time) also sang backing vocals on the LP. We can also see Yoko Ono (John Lennon's partner at the time) in the video, just accompanying them.

A really good explanation of music. To be honest, I used to listen to this band a lot when I was little, since my siblings really liked them; their lyrics are very moving.
