Today I want to talk about a beautiful Beatles song, a very well-crafted piece that caused a sensation when it was released approximately 60 years ago, in late 1966. The recording sessions and recording sessions extended into early 1967. I'm referring to the song "Penny Lane," an extraordinary track and one of my favorites.

I'll begin by saying that this song was written by Paul McCartney and is based on childhood memories, to which John Lennon added his own. There was a place in Liverpool that was very special to them called "Penny Lane," and it was also close to their homes, so the memories came flooding back. Specifically, it was a street intersection, and one of the streets had that name. I think we all had those mythical places as children that bring back fond memories and unforgettable experiences, moments and memories. I think it's something common to us human beings.

The song was released as a single at the end of 1966, and months later that same single was included on the LP "Magical Mystery Tour." The A-side of that single, "Strawberry Fields Forever," was included on the LP and also on the soundtrack of the 1967 film of the same name (in its English version). Later, in the United States, the Capitol Records version was included on the aforementioned LP. Thus, the song "Penny Lane" was not part of the original film, but it was included on the North American version of the album. Furthermore, in the United States, the single was also released as a double A-side. A promotional video for "Penny Lane," filmed in London and partly in Liverpool, was shot in black and white, and was soon after released in color. It is a great pleasure for me to know that the Penny Lane intersection is one of the most famous in music history, an honor it shares with another famous intersection, also related to music, the legendary Abbey Road. Road.

I love this song because it has a neoclassical and semi-baroque style. A few years ago, a proposal to change the street's name was brought before the Liverpool City Council for social reasons, as the name was associated with slavery. However, the International Museum of Social Affairs (slavery section) found no evidence of this, so all the fans could breathe a sigh of relief; the proposal to change the street's name was rejected.

This song was never played live in concert, but Paul has performed it on several occasions during his solo tours. In this unforgettable song, we find Paul on lead vocals, piano, bass, and harmonium, as well as playing tambourine and adding effects; John on backing vocals, piano, rhythm guitar, and handclaps; George on lead guitar and handclaps; and Ringo on drums and bell. Additionally, producer George Martin plays piano and provides an orchestral arrangement, and in that arrangement, we can enjoy flutes, piccolo trumpets, flugelhorns, and more. Oboes, an English horn, and a double bass—a true gem—reached number 1 on the Billboard charts in those final days of 1966 and the beginning of 1967.

I loved seeing them riding horses; I think it's the first time I've seen them as riders. They look majestic and stately. There's also a beautiful white horse in the video—spectacular! Simply geniuses.

Well, my dear audience, I hope you enjoy this review, made with love for all of you. We'll see each other, read each other, and comment again soon. A big hug to everyone. Blessings!
