Hey Netflix bingers
Ever since I saw Joker, which I think will be the best movie of the year anything after that would naturally be a letdown. I couldn't get myself to sleep, so I thought let's kill a bit of time and opened Netflix to see what was available and came across Fractured.
The plot seemed generic and open-ended enough to be entertaining, but Sam Worthington is a decent actor while the director Brad Anderson also did The Machinist which I enjoyed so I thought I'd give it a go.

What is Fractured about?
The movie revolves around a typical family travelling across the country for the holidays — they stopover at a gas station to rest when his daughter falls and injures herself. The frantic parents then go to the nearest hospital to get checked in.
The hospital seems to show some signs of oddities around. Still, it's only after his wife and injured daughter disappear from the emergency room, that Ray Monroe, the father becomes convinced the hospital is hiding something.

What I thought of Fractured?
The movie uses the tried and tested Netflix formula, one big/upper-medium actor, 2/3 mediocre ones, rest new unknown ones who want to make a mark in the industry - with a Subpar script. The plot is pretty evident after 15 mins into the movie rest of it could have ended in less than an hour with nothing much to keep you engaged. It does drag for the majority of the move.
This movie features nearly every psychological drama cliche - starting with a domestic scuffle, continuing with lost memory issues and ending with alleged distrustful medical staff.
Nevertheless, this movie is no more than a mediocre attempt to reprise countless same -genre psych-thrillers elements with no unique upticks.
My rating for Fractured?
The movie treks on at a really slow pace trying to move you further and further from the truth and leading you across a number of tangents with the sole purpose of shocking you with the twist at the end.
It's as if they were relying so much on the twist they forgot to put together a wholly entertaining and gripping hour and 30 minutes before.
If you can suspend all rationality and foresight and don't mind a muted colour set with Sam Worthington running around looking confused then maybe it's a tad bit more than not great. In the end, you feel like this was simply a 6th sense or Shutter Island homage and not done very well.
While the twist is pretty good, the movie is pretty average, and I give it ** five plot twists out of 10**
