Some years back while growing up, I got a movie collection from a friend in high school and I was excited because it was all cartoons (at least that's what we used to call it then). But it wasn't only the fact it was cartoon that made me so excited, it also had in front of it as the cover picture, a fearsome looking man with read eyes, a black robe and weird blood looking hair mixed with black and he just stared blankly back at me. l loved it so much that I actually made a drawing of it with a black pen and a red pen and it was arguably one of my best drawings till date.
Apparently that man was Dracula and instead of a cartoon what was in the collection was a compilation of game scenes. Fast-forward to today, I had no idea that I'll be seeing the movie after so many years. Have you ever wondered if gods could fall in love? Could they ever be so enchanted by any one to the point where they'll do anything and everything to make them happy? I have never for once doubted the power of a woman. If a woman can àctually make angels come down from heaven then they can enchant any thing and anyone.
This story is a beautiful one and it really is touching, I never expected such a beautiful story to come out of a Japanese video game series of the same name by Konami. This movie does more than tell a gruesome tale of Dracula, it goes a lot deeper, it shows love, one so deeply rooted that you'll wonder how it ever even started. It showed self discovery, betrayal, loyalty and everything that encompass the society today. When I watched it I was scared because I totally became hooked, because every thing was so well thought out. From the voice casts to the whole animation graphics and every. It even got one of the best reviews from Rotten Tomatoes and IMD.
The movie currently has four seasons, the first with four episodes was released July 7, 2017, the second with eight episodes released on October 26, 2018, the third season with ten on March 5, 2020 and the last season with ten released on May 13, 2021. Netflix be doing the most and have anounced that they'll be a sequel based off different characters but one directly telling a story of the descendants of the protagonists.
Plot
The movie starts of with the vampire Count Vlad Dracula Țepeș receiving a knock on his castle door. He's ecstatic, and furiously wonders who'll dare to disturb his peace, he's surprised to find a beautiful woman standing in front of his door. She speaks so boldly and says her name's is Lisa and she walked a long way to find him. She tells him she's heard tales of his vast knowledge since he's lived for a long time and she would want him to share that knowledge with him.
Dracula declines at first telling her of how hateful and gruesomely wicked humans are and how he only saw them as weak and hopelessness. But she convinces that they're people who are good and who need the knowledge he has, for science and for healing, all he needed to do was to travel the world. Dracula is convinced and takes her in to teach her but along the line he falls in love and makes her his wife.
She goes back to helping the of people of Wallachia with her knowledge. The church soon finds out and call her mysterious knowledge witchcraft and a crazy pope tags her a witch and ensures she gets burned at a stake with the people watching. Dracula comes back from his travel with a changed heart only to discover that his wife had been burned to death. He gets angry and vows that he'll make them all pay with their lives. So he summons his dark creatures of the night to destroy the city.
Surprisingly one of the last descendants of a Belmonts, one of the family notorious for hunting vampires and other mystical creatures finds himself roaming the city where these demons are sent to and before long he rescues a magician, a lady who soon become his partner, who also believes that there's a saviour buried underneath the city. They both go underneath to the tomb to discover that there's actually no saviour but the son of Dracula who opposes of his father's ways. Together they join forces to try to end the terror of Dracula. Will they succeed? You'll have to find out.
My take on the movie
I don't think I can find fault in this series, because it certainly wasn't what I was expecting. I love what they did with the cast Trevor Belmont, he's so arrogant and bad mouthed but still so kind, caring and strong, i like that they didn't over exaggerate his powers so much that he needed a companion, someone he'll grow to love and go through so many dangers together and likewise Sypha blows me away with her beauty and continuous support for Trevor, she doesn't ask for two much and she just has his back no matter what, makes you want to really fall in love.
My favorite though, is actually the son of Dracula, the exact opposite of his father, I love how much he and Trevor become cat and dog and their moments together is one of my favorite scenes. He's so smart and friendly and he hardly shows too much emotion but deep down he's scared that he might be a lot worse than his father.
The graphics was on point, a lot of blood and yet still good enough for anyone to view it. This is one of the best Animation series I've seen after Love, Death and Robots and it's impressive in every way. Even when I started to get a little bored in the season 3 when they weren't actually telling any new story but just going from one place to another I didn't know they were actually building up for something I didn't see coming. I loved the ending too, it was a touching one and I can actually call it perfect. The Creator Warren Ellis did really well as well as the producers.
The voice casts Richard Armitage, James Callis, Graham McTavish, Alejandra Reynoso, Tony Amendola, Matt Frewer, Emily Swallow, Theo James, Adetokumboh M'Cormack, Jaime Murray, Peter Stormare, Jessica Brown Findlay, Rila Fukushima, Jason Isaacs,Yasmine Al Massri Ivana were some of the best, I could recognize some of them from Hobbit and they did blend in so well with the characters. This one, I'm giving a 10 out of 10 and strongly recommend it to you, have fun!.

Hace unos años, mientras crecía, un amigo del instituto me regaló una colección de películas y me entusiasmó porque todas eran de dibujos animados (al menos así las llamábamos entonces). Pero no era sólo el hecho de que fueran dibujos animados lo que me entusiasmaba, sino que también tenía como imagen de portada a un hombre de aspecto temible, con los ojos leídos, una túnica negra y un extraño pelo de aspecto sanguinolento mezclado con negro, que me miraba fijamente. Me encantó tanto que lo dibujé con un bolígrafo negro y otro rojo y fue posiblemente uno de mis mejores dibujos hasta la fecha.
Al parecer ese hombre era Drácula y en lugar de un dibujo animado lo que había en la colección era una recopilación de escenas de juegos. Si avanzamos hasta hoy, no tenía ni idea de que iba a ver la película después de tantos años. ¿Te has preguntado alguna vez si los dioses pueden enamorarse? ¿Podrían estar tan encantados por alguien hasta el punto de hacer todo lo posible para hacerlos felices? Nunca he dudado del poder de una mujer. Si una mujer puede hacer bajar a los ángeles del cielo, entonces puede encantar a cualquier cosa y a cualquier persona.
Esta historia es hermosa y realmente conmovedora, nunca esperé que una historia tan hermosa saliera de una serie de videojuegos japoneses del mismo nombre de Konami. Esta película hace algo más que contar una historia truculenta de Drácula, va mucho más allá, muestra el amor, uno tan profundamente arraigado que te preguntarás cómo pudo empezar. Muestra el autodescubrimiento, la traición, la lealtad y todo lo que abarca la sociedad actual. Cuando la vi me asusté porque me enganché totalmente, porque todo estaba muy bien pensado. Desde el reparto de voces hasta los gráficos de animación y todo. Incluso obtuvo una de las mejores críticas de Rotten Tomatoes y IMDb.
La película tiene actualmente cuatro temporadas, la primera con cuatro episodios se estrenó el 7 de julio de 2017, la segunda con ocho episodios estrenada el 26 de octubre de 2018, la tercera temporada con diez el 5 de marzo de 2020 y la última temporada con diez estrenada el 13 de mayo de 2021. Netflix será el que más haga y ha anunciado que será una secuela basada en diferentes personajes pero que contará directamente la historia de los descendientes de los protagonistas.
Trama
La película comienza con el vampiro Conde Drácula Țepeș recibiendo una llamada a la puerta de su castillo. Extasiado, y preguntándose furiosamente quién se atreverá a perturbar su paz, se sorprende al encontrar a una hermosa mujer de pie frente a su puerta. Ella habla con mucho desparpajo y dice que se llama Lisa y que ha recorrido un largo camino para encontrarlo. Ella le dice que ha escuchado historias de su vasto conocimiento ya que ha vivido durante mucho tiempo y que le gustaría que compartiera ese conocimiento con él.
Drácula se niega al principio diciéndole lo odiosos y espantosamente malvados que son los humanos y que él sólo los veía como débiles y sin esperanza. Pero ella le convence de que son gente buena y que necesitan los conocimientos que él tiene, para la ciencia y para la curación, lo único que tenía que hacer era viajar por el mundo. Drácula se convence y la acoge para enseñarle pero en el camino se enamora y la convierte en su esposa.
Ella vuelve a ayudar al pueblo de Valaquia con sus conocimientos. La iglesia pronto lo descubre y llama a sus misteriosos conocimientos brujería y un papa loco la etiqueta como bruja y se asegura de que sea quemada en una hoguera con el pueblo mirando. Drácula regresa de su viaje con el corazón cambiado y descubre que su mujer ha muerto quemada. Se enfada y jura que les hará pagar a todos con sus vidas. Así que convoca a sus oscuras criaturas de la noche para destruir la ciudad.
Sorprendentemente, uno de los últimos descendientes de los Belmonts, una familia famosa por cazar vampiros y otras criaturas místicas, se encuentra vagando por la ciudad a la que son enviados estos demonios y no tarda en rescatar a una maga, una dama que pronto se convertirá en su compañera, que también cree que hay un salvador enterrado bajo la ciudad. Ambos se adentran en la tumba para descubrir que en realidad no hay ningún salvador, sino el hijo de Drácula, que se opone a las costumbres de su padre. Juntos unen sus fuerzas para intentar acabar con el terror de Drácula. ¿Tendrán éxito? Tendrás que descubrirlo.
Mi opinión sobre la película
No creo que pueda encontrar fallos en esta serie, porque ciertamente no era lo que esperaba. Me encanta lo que hicieron con el elenco Trevor Belmont, es tan arrogante y mal hablado, pero aún así tan amable, cariñoso y fuerte, me gusta que no exageraron sus poderes tanto que necesitaba un compañero, alguien que crecerá para amar y pasar por tantos peligros juntos y del mismo modo Sypha me sopla con su belleza y el apoyo continuo a Trevor, ella no pide dos mucho y ella sólo tiene su espalda no importa qué, hace que usted quiere caer en el amor de verdad.
Mi favorito sin embargo, es en realidad el hijo de Drácula, todo lo contrario a su padre, me encanta lo mucho que él y Trevor se convierten en perro y gato y sus momentos juntos es una de mis escenas favoritas. Es tan inteligente y simpático y apenas muestra demasiadas emociones pero en el fondo tiene miedo de ser mucho peor que su padre.
Los gráficos estaban en su punto, mucha sangre y aún así lo suficientemente bueno para que cualquiera pueda verlo. Esta es una de las mejores series de animación que he visto después de Love, Death and Robots y es impresionante en todos los sentidos. Incluso cuando empecé a aburrirme un poco en la tercera temporada, cuando no contaban ninguna historia nueva sino que simplemente iban de un sitio a otro, no sabía que en realidad estaban construyendo algo que no veía venir. El final también me encantó, fue conmovedor y realmente puedo decir que fue perfecto. El creador Warren Ellis lo hizo muy bien, así como los productores.
El reparto de voces Richard Armitage, James Callis, Graham McTavish, Alejandra Reynoso, Tony Amendola, Matt Frewer, Emily Swallow, Theo James, Adetokumboh M'Cormack, Jaime Murray, Peter Stormare, Jessica Brown Findlay, Rila Fukushima, Jason Isaacs,Yasmine Al Massri Ivana fueron de los mejores, pude reconocer a algunos de ellos de Hobbit y se compenetraron muy bien con los personajes. A esta le doy un 10 de 10 y os la recomiendo encarecidamente, ¡que os divirtáis!
