Having my phone develop issues meant staying off Hive for a while. I was upset and since I had no laptop or another means to ensure my activities on Hive were unaltered it made me panic. So I stayed off for a whole week and it felt like I'd been away for a month. More than anything else I missed being in the movie realm, this Community actually makes me feel at home.
So prior to getting my phone fixed, first thing I did was see this movie and even though it had been released since July 27, I just got a chance to actually download it a few days ago. I had seen a lot of hype about this animation and even with it all I still didn't expect much from it, lol. I went into seeing the movie without much of an expectation and I was glad though because the element of surprise was quite enjoyable.
DC League of Super-Pets is directed by Jared Stern, and it was co-written with the help of John Whittington and based on the DC Comics superhero team Legion of Super-Pets. I must say they went all out on this one, like way all out. I could remember watching and I was like, there's no way I don't know this voice when I heard Krypto talk, it was awfully familiar and then I heard Ace talk and I was like noooo. The voice casts Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Kate McKinnon, John Krasinski, Vanessa Bayer, Natasha Lyonne, Diego Luna, Thomas Middleditch, Ben Schwartz, and Keanu Reeves left me in awe, so many superstars in one movie.
The movie which was animated by Animal Logic actually made a whooping $146millon dollars in box office already and i wasn't surprised when I saw Rotten tomatoes give it a high rating.
Plot
The movie starts with the escape of Kal-El to safety after the destruction of the planet Krypton but this time he has a companion with him, a Labrador Retriever who comforts him as they make their way to earth. Years later, both of them live in the city of Metropolis but Superman and his dog Krypto the Superdog have to be undercover as Clark Kent and Bark.
Clark is a reporter/journalist who ends up dating his fellow journalist Lois Lane and this makes Krypto jealous. Clark takes Krypto to an animal shelter to him a new friend since he believes his dog might get really lonely. In the shelter, Krypto meets Ace (a boxer dog) who tries to escape and he stops him. Things didn't go as planned as Lex Luthor is seen trying to reel in a meteorite laced with orange Kryptonite with his laser beam. Lex is stopped easily as Superman and Krypto are aided by the justice league.
Meanwhile a Guinea pig (Lulu) who was also at the animal shelter and also a former test subject of Luthor ends up reeling in a tiny part of the orange Kryptonite with her laser beam and this ends up giving her superanimal abilities or superpowers. Unknowingly to her, the other animals in the shelter also get powers too. Ace becomes indestructible, PB the pig can change her size, the turtle Merton becomes super fast and Chip a squirrel can shoot electric from his hands.
It doesn't take long for Lulu to capture superman and the rest of the justice league with her army of super guinea pigs Krypto is left powerless after eating a cheese with Kryptonite with it. Hopeless and vulnerable Krypto discovers that the weird animals in the shelter now have superpowers. He reaches out to them to help him rescue his friend superman and the rest of the justice league. Would he be able to convince them and get them ready to defeat Lulu and her army of guinea pigs? You'll have to watch the movie to find out.
My take on the movie
I think this is one of the best Dc movies I've seen for a long while even if it wasn't actually a Dc movie but an animation movie. I actually enjoyed the fact that they made it a lot more fun by using Dwayne and Kelvin Hart. There's a lot of originality that comes with those two and I can never get tired of watching their combo. The casts could have been a little overwhelming but it wasn't though, it actually played out well, and it made the movie quite enjoyable.
I must say it was way more fun than I was expecting, the story was a simple one but I like the fact that it wasn't just cliche. It centered around friendship and self discovery. What would you do when you realize you're not as strong as you always were or what would you do when you finally discover that you have so much power, much more than you can imagine. Would you use that power for good or would you do everything to hurt the ones that hurt you.
The animation was done very well and the actions were well drawn. One thing I enjoyed was the the dialogue, it was well written, I remember Superman making a very cheeky comment where he referred to Iron Man and it made me laugh, it was kind of like the stuff Marvel is well known for, entertaining you both in action and in dialogue.
I was expecting a boring ending of course, because surely we know the good guys would always win but then I actually enjoyed the part where Batman and Ace were having a weird conversation, hehe, I really don't know why but everything about this movie just appealed to me and there was certainly no dull moment. I know I was a little annoyed that the Justice league had been made to seem weak, how do you explain guinea pigs defeating them and capturing them so easily?
But on the bright side, the story wasn't really about the justice league, and it certainly does what animation movies are always good at doing, bringing the imagination of the writter to life, impossibilities can be possible with animation and this one was beautiful to watch. I recommend this one for anyone and everyone, you should see this if you haven't and if you have I'll love to hear what part of the movie was really enjoyable to you. I'll give it a 8 out of 10.

El hecho de que mi teléfono tuviera problemas supuso que me quedara fuera de Hive durante un tiempo. Estaba disgustado y como no tenía un portátil u otro medio para asegurar que mis actividades en Hive no se vieran alteradas, me entró el pánico. Así que me quedé fuera una semana entera y me sentí como si hubiera estado fuera durante un mes. Más que nada echaba de menos estar en el reino de las películas, esta Comunidad me hace sentir como en casa.
Así que antes de arreglar mi teléfono, lo primero que hice fue ver esta película y aunque se había estrenado desde el 27 de julio, recién tuve la oportunidad de descargarla hace unos días. Había visto mucho bombo y platillo sobre esta animación y aún así no esperaba mucho de ella, lol. Fui a ver la película sin muchas expectativas y me alegré porque el elemento sorpresa fue bastante agradable.

Trama

Clark lleva a Krypto a un refugio de animales para que tenga un nuevo amigo ya que cree que su perro podría sentirse muy solo. En el refugio, Krypto conoce a Ace (un perro bóxer) que intenta escapar y él lo detiene. Las cosas no salieron como se había planeado ya que se ve a Lex Luthor tratando de atrapar un meteorito con Kryptonita naranja con su rayo láser. Lex es detenido fácilmente mientras Superman y Krypto son ayudados por la liga de la justicia.
Mientras tanto, una cobaya (Lulu) que también estaba en el refugio de animales y que también fue sujeto de pruebas de Luthor, termina enrollando una pequeña parte de la kriptonita naranja con su rayo láser y esto termina dándole habilidades superanimales o superpoderes. Sin que ella lo sepa, los demás animales del refugio también adquieren poderes. Ace se vuelve indestructible, la cerda PB puede cambiar de tamaño, la tortuga Merton se vuelve súper rápida y la ardilla Chip puede disparar electricidad de sus manos.
Lulu no tarda en capturar a superman y al resto de la liga de la justicia con su ejército de superconejillos de indias Krypto se queda sin poderes después de comerse un queso con kriptonita. Desesperado y vulnerable Krypto descubre que los extraños animales del refugio tienen ahora superpoderes. Recurre a ellos para que le ayuden a rescatar a su amigo superman y al resto de la liga de la justicia. ¿Será capaz de convencerlos y prepararlos para derrotar a Lulú y su ejército de cobayas? Tendrás que ver la película para averiguarlo.
Mi opinión sobre la película
Creo que es una de las mejores películas de Dc que he visto en mucho tiempo aunque no fuera realmente una película de Dc. La verdad es que me ha gustado el hecho de que la hayan hecho mucho más divertida utilizando a Dwayne y Kelvin Hart. Hay mucha originalidad con ellos dos y nunca me canso de ver su combo. El elenco podría haber sido un poco abrumador, pero no lo fue, en realidad jugó bien, e hizo la película bastante agradable.
Debo decir que fue mucho más divertida de lo que esperaba, la historia era sencilla pero me gustó el hecho de que no fuera sólo un cliché. Se centraba en la amistad y el autodescubrimiento. Qué harías cuando te das cuenta de que no eres tan fuerte como siempre o qué harías cuando finalmente descubres que tienes mucho poder, mucho más del que puedes imaginar. ¿Usarías ese poder para el bien o harías todo lo posible para dañar a los que te hacen daño?
La animación estaba muy bien hecha y las acciones estaban bien dibujadas. Una cosa que me gustó fue el diálogo, estaba bien escrito, recuerdo que Superman hizo un comentario muy descarado en el que se refería a Iron Man y me hizo reír, fue algo así como el material por el que Marvel es bien conocido, te entretiene tanto en la acción como en el diálogo.
Esperaba un final aburrido por supuesto, porque seguramente sabemos que los buenos siempre ganarían pero luego realmente disfruté de la parte en la que Batman y Ace tenían una extraña conversación, jeje, realmente no sé por qué pero todo en esta película simplemente me atrajo y ciertamente no hubo ningún momento aburrido. Sé que me molestó un poco que la liga de la Justicia se haya hecho parecer débil, ¿cómo se explica que los conejillos de indias los derroten y los capturen tan fácilmente?
Pero en el lado positivo, la historia no era realmente acerca de la liga de la justicia, y sin duda hace lo que las películas de animación son siempre buenos en hacer, trayendo la imaginación del escritor a la vida, las imposibilidades pueden ser posibles con la animación y éste era hermoso para ver. Recomiendo esta para todos y cada uno, deben ver esto si no lo han hecho y si lo han hecho me encantará escuchar que parte de la película fue realmente agradable para ustedes. Yo le doy un 8 de 10.
