it started off with a senseless murder
I think those were the words @theawesononso used to start his review and I must say it stuck in my head. I had hear of fear street a lot of times before but then I didn't make the move to watch it, I still don't know why, maybe I was scared, scared that I wouldn't like it or it'll go below my expectations.
Well, I got over that fear after reading that review. Imagine, getting over one fear to go face another, hehe what an irony. It didn't take me long to download it and begin the journey. Truth be told, the moment I started the movie I knew i was going to like it, I don't know, the whole teenage setting just warms me plus plus it didn't take long to see Benjamin Christopher Flores Jr. the little boy from Nickelodeon tv series The Haunted Hathaways and Gameshakers.
There's this stupidity that comes with this movie and it is enjoyable. You know all that weirdness and stupid talk of young teenagers and then add it with a lot of creepiness and gruesome killings, now that's what I'm talking about. The movie actually talks about segregation too, and I understand this very well. You're hated because you were born some certain kind of way or without a certain kind of privilege. No matter what you try to do to make people change how they see you it just doesn't work and it just gets worse.
The other casts Kiana Madeira, Olivia Scott Welch, Julia Rehwald, Fred Hechinger, Ashley Zukerman, Darrell Britt-Gibson and Maya Hawke were great, and I'm saying this because they gave me everything I wanted, pretty sure the producers Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, David Ready and Director Leigh Janiak actually did a good job on this one but I'll not praise them too much untill I see the other parts of this trilogy movie.
About
The movie starts with a senseless murder in 1994, a book store employee at the Shadyside Mall, gets stabbed to death by her friend and he goes on to kill a couple of other people before interference by the police. This gruesome killings has always been the case for the people of Shadyside who's town is believed to have been caused by a witch who was hanged in 1666, tagged the murder town it's nothing like their neighboring town Sunnyvale that basks in so much riches, peace and safety.
Deena Johnson the protagonist doesn't believe the tale of the witch Sarah Fier and suffers from a breakup with her girlfriend who moved to sunnyvale for greener pastures. Her brother Josh on the other hand does a lot of research concerning the killings and believes that the witch is out to get them.
Her crazy friends Simon and Kate also make fun of the Fier legend and sell drugs in hopes of loving the town. Deena meets Sam in a vilgil held at sunnyvale to remember the victims of the killings and that meeting goes sour as the students of Sunnyvale and Shadyside end up in a fight and it gets worse when Deena realize that Sam must have moved on.
Sam's boyfriend ends up tailing the Shadyside School bus on their way back in a bid to cause more trouble, but Deena mistakingly retaliates and the car ends up in an accident, one that causes Sam to crawl out of the car only to find herself touching bones that makes her see a vision of Fier before being taken to the hospital.
This is where all their nightmare begins to unfold because the bones actually belongs to the witch Fier and she wasn't too happy with the the disturbance. She sends a series of undead killers after the group and it's the worst experience they'll ever have. Will they be able to figure out how to stop the witch from killing them or making them kill themselves? You'll certainly have to find out!
My take on the movie
I must say it isn't the scariest movie I've seen and unlike IT (the movie), there was many scenes that sent shivers running through my veins. But I think it has a really great story and nothing beats seeing a little lesbian love and friendship that actually makes you sober. I love the whole setting of the movie, for an event that took place in 1994 it sure had a lot of cool activities.
It was touching at some point seeing each one willing to sacrifice his life for the other. At some point I didn't care if it was an horror movie, I connected so we'll with the casts that I really wanted all of them to make it and yeah I did say a little prayer and surely the writer just had to dash my hopes up. Deena(Kiana) was great, her expressions were the best for me and she actually entered the character so well that you'd think she was playing herself. I must say I loved the characters Simon (Fred Hechinger) and Kate (Julia Rehwald), they were a great addition to the movie.
At some point I was wondering who even created the Simon character, dude was weird and had this death imprint written all over his face. I thought he was going to die at every scene but he always had something to do to prove me one. At the end when I heard about his story, it got me, and I almost cried, I couldn't bare to think about all he had to go through amidst all the laughter and fun he was just someone who had a lot of problems going for him and he still didn't let him get to him.
I had a lot of favorite scenes so I'll be hard to pick one but I think one that gave me a laugh was when Simon was in the shower, I don't think you'll want to know what happened next ,hehe. Overall, the killings weren't bad, the whole scary setting too and to think I watched it in the night. I'm eager to watch the other parts so I'll be able to conclude if they actually killed this one but for now I'll give it a rating of 7 out of 10.

Creo que esas fueron las palabras con las que theawesononso comenzó su crítica y debo decir que se me quedaron grabadas. Había oído hablar de fear street un montón de veces pero luego no me animé a verla, aún no sé por qué, quizás tenía miedo, miedo a que no me gustara o a que quedara por debajo de mis expectativas.
Pues bien, he superado ese miedo después de leer esta crítica. Imagínate, superar un miedo para ir a enfrentarme a otro, jeje qué ironía. No tardé mucho en descargarlo y comenzar el viaje. La verdad, en cuanto empecé la película supe que me iba a gustar, no sé, toda la ambientación adolescente me calienta además de que no tardé en ver a Benjamin Christopher Flores Jr. el niño de la serie de televisión de Nickelodeon The Haunted Hathaways y Gameshakers.
Hay una estupidez que viene con esta película y es agradable. Ya sabes, todas esas rarezas y estupideces de los jóvenes adolescentes y luego añadirlo con un montón de espeluznantes y horripilantes asesinatos, ahora eso es lo que estoy hablando. En realidad la película también habla de la segregación, y lo entiendo muy bien. Te odian porque has nacido de una determinada manera o sin un determinado tipo de privilegio. No importa lo que intentes hacer para que la gente cambie su forma de verte, no funciona y sólo empeora.
El resto del reparto, Kiana Madeira, Olivia Scott Welch, Julia Rehwald, Fred Hechinger, Ashley Zukerman, Darrell Britt-Gibson y Maya Hawke, estuvieron muy bien, y lo digo porque me dieron todo lo que quería. Estoy seguro de que los productores Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, David Ready y el director Leigh Janiak hicieron un buen trabajo, pero no los alabaré demasiado hasta que vea las otras partes de esta trilogía.

Estos horribles asesinatos han sido siempre el caso para la gente de Shadyside que se cree que la ciudad fue causada por una bruja que fue colgada en 1666, etiquetada como la ciudad asesina no es nada como su ciudad vecina Sunnyvale que goza de tanta riqueza, paz y seguridad.
Deena Johnson la protagonista no cree en el cuento de la bruja Sarah Fier y sufre una ruptura con su novia que se mudó a sunnyvale por pastos más verdes. Su hermano Josh, en cambio, investiga mucho sobre los asesinatos y cree que la bruja va a por ellos.

Deena conoce a Sam en un vilgil celebrado en Sunnyvale para recordar a las víctimas de los asesinatos y ese encuentro se agria cuando los estudiantes de Sunnyvale y Shadyside acaban peleándose y todo empeora cuando Deena se da cuenta de que Sam debe haber seguido adelante.
El novio de Sam termina siguiendo el autobús de la escuela Shadyside en su camino de regreso en un intento de causar más problemas, pero Deena por error toma represalias y el coche termina en un accidente, uno que hace que Sam se arrastre fuera del coche sólo para encontrarse tocando los huesos que le hace ver una visión de Fier antes de ser llevado al hospital.
Aquí es donde toda su pesadilla comienza a desarrollarse porque los huesos en realidad pertenecen a la bruja Fier y ella no estaba muy contenta con la perturbación. Ella envía una serie de asesinos no-muertos tras el grupo y es la peor experiencia que jamás tendrán. ¿Serán capaces de averiguar cómo evitar que la bruja los mate o hacer que se maten ellos mismos? Sin duda, ¡habrá que averiguarlo!
Mi opinión sobre la película
He de decir que no es la película más terrorífica que he visto y que, a diferencia de IT (la película), hubo muchas escenas que me produjeron escalofríos. Pero creo que tiene una historia muy buena y nada mejor que ver un poco de amor y amistad lésbica que realmente te hace sobrio. Me encanta toda la ambientación de la película, para un evento que tuvo lugar en 1994 seguro que tenía un montón de actividades chulas.
Fue conmovedor en algún momento ver a cada uno dispuesto a sacrificar su vida por el otro. En algún momento no me importó que fuera una película de terror, me conecté tanto con el elenco que realmente quería que todos ellos lo lograran y sí dije una pequeña oración y seguramente el escritor sólo tenía que hacer que mis esperanzas aumentaran. Deena(Kiana) estuvo genial, sus expresiones fueron las mejores para mí y realmente se metió en el personaje tan bien que pensarías que se estaba interpretando a sí misma. Debo decir que me encantaron los personajes de Simon (Fred Hechinger) y Kate (Julia Rehwald), fueron una gran adición a la película.
En algún momento me pregunté quién había creado el personaje de Simon, el tipo era raro y tenía esa huella de muerte escrita en su cara. Pensaba que iba a morir en cada escena pero siempre tenía algo que hacer para demostrarme una. Al final, cuando me enteré de su historia, me conmovió, y casi lloré, no podía soportar pensar en todo lo que tuvo que pasar en medio de todas las risas y la diversión, era alguien que tenía muchos problemas y aun así no se dejaba vencer.
Tuve muchas escenas favoritas así que será difícil elegir una pero creo que una que me dio risa fue cuando Simon estaba en la ducha, no creo que quieras saber lo que pasó después ,jeje. En general, los asesinatos no estuvieron mal, toda la ambientación de miedo también y pensar que la vi en la noche. Estoy ansioso por ver las otras partes para poder concluir si realmente mataron a este pero por ahora le daré una calificación de 7 sobre 10.
